But, 3am rolls around and the hooting turns into the loud whiny of the horse you previously heard... the horse stops almost as suddenly as it started and a blood curdling howl carries on the wind down toward your camp...
It sounds as if it is coming from the rocky hills just north of you (see picture above).

Arxius will ready her bow, and if it's still dark she will move away from the light of their camp. [Umbral Sight give her 90ft of darkvision and while in darkness, she is invisible to any creature that relies on darkvision to see her in that darkness.] If it's not that dark she's going to move up onto the rocks to see if she can get a better vantage point and see what's coming.

Your best guess is the sounds are coming from about a half mile away up on the ridge in the left side of the photo. It is quite dark.. there's some cloud coverage this very early morning (it's 3am), so you can't quite make anything out at this distance.
If everybody's curiosity is satisfied, shall we move on?

Again silence...
