"Ones that are to fat to hold their own weight do. You can handle a weapon unlike some of the rich fops I have worked for." Kruk says as he boredly fiddles with an arrow.
"Fine but don't get in the way if it is more then you can handle. " Kruk tells Renaer as he moves to leave the room and go back to the kenku. "If you know the way then start leading birds. If you do anything to mess with us I'll finish what you started earlier."
The Kenku lead you out of the warehouse, down a small alleyway and to a circular metal cover inset in the pavement. The cover is easily lifted, with a ladder leading down into the sewers.
The Kenku look at you hopefully, as if to say "May we go now?"
A putrid stream flows along this sewer tunnel, which leads in two directions. In one direction, Kruk sees a tiny symbol drawn on the wall in yellow chalk: a palm-sized circle with ten equidistant spokes radiating out from its circumference.
Alton Thorngage had entered the yawning portal early that day. He looked a bit nervous, as his eyes adjusted to the light.
“Threestrings!” he called out, seeing a known face. He moved across the floor, lute slung across his back and traveling cloak looking like it had just been purchased that morning. “I am looking to join the group that set out from here.”
Spells:Cantrips: Minor Illusion, Prestidigitation; Level 1: Comprehend Languages (R), Detect Magic (R), Healing Word, Sleep
Background: Alton has heard of the search for a relic, and the clerics of Mystra have asked him to investigate. He has spent much of his time in the temple and knows little of the city. He is round of build, short even for a halfling, with wide eyes and curly brown hair. He has no noticeable scars or marks on him. He enters the tavern knowing only threestrings, and is aware of the party that has headed out on the adventure.
[Please let me know if there is still space to join, and an appropriate way to join the party. If directed to catch up by anyone at the yawning portal I will gladly do so.]
[There is space, hope you're up for a bit of sewer crawling.]
"You might want to speak with Volo the wizard about that, as he's the one that sent them." "Threestrings" directs Alton to Volo, who directs him to the Skewered Dragon, where he is directed to the Zhent's hideout, where to make a long story short he ends up seeing the party heading down an alleyway lead by some Kenku bound in ropes; the Bugbear of the party has already gone down the manhole while the rest of the party debates what to do with the captured bird creatures.
Alton sees the group leading the kenku and the open manhole.
”Mystra guide me, my first adventure and there are sewers” he thinks to himself.
Addressing the party, he approaches carefully to gauge their reactions. “Hail and well met my friends” he says. “Volo has sent me to catch up with you. A bit of song for your adventure, and a sharp wit.” He smiles, worried. He glances at the sewer entrance and approaches. He has his lute in his left hand, his other empty. An unlit lantern hangs from a hook at his waist and a crossbow is slung across his back.
Assuming he is able to approach, he glances into the place that the bugbear jumped down into. “Safe to join you fellow?”
He looks at the Kenku, puzzled. He notices they are bound and glances at the others but otherwise keeps his counsel to himself. Once acknowledged by the bugbear he will jump down and look about.
[If the sewers are dark, he will wave his hands and mutter a few words casting prestidigitation to light his lantern.]
"It had to be the sewers, of course. It makes me wonder if kidnappers have anything against brightly lighted castles with clean walls and floors smelling of roses. It's as if they have something to hide, damnit! Ha ha"With that light-hearthed comment Erik follow the gang keeping an eye on the kenku on the way to the sewers. He is so NOT looking forward to climbing down there but seeing no other options he grumpily follow the happy bard and Deryus into the sewers.
”I say we leave the Kenku tied up here, with a note on them explaining what happened, they’ll probably be found by some guards, and get the proper punishment.” Dwaye says before starting to write a note explaining what the Kenku’s did and placing it in between one of the Kenku’s and the rope restraining it. After which he jumps into the sewer and lights his lantern.
Soar looks at the kenku, bound tightly by hand, and pulls them sternly back to the warehouse down the small alley. She shoves them into the warehouse ("Stay!"), pulls the door closed again, tries to wedge it shut with something, and runs back down the alley. She runs past the people climbing down into the sewer, to the end of the alley onto the main street. She says in an ebullient, but also long-suffering voice: "City watch! I'd like to report some murders in the Zhent's warehouse hideout -- ask the four detained kenku inside, they'll know more. We had to go find someone who's still in trouble. Trust you'll figure this mess out. I'll explain later!"
If there's a city guard in sight, she'll say this, dramatically looking into the middle distance, and not interacting with them at all. If there's no city watch in sight, she'll deliver the pronouncement in the same manner and hope someone heard her.
She runs back down the alley and follow the people headed into the sewers. She can see without light and volunteers to clank ahead, looking for more signs, warhammer ready. She barely registers the smell. "Never been here before. Should be fun!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Reynard drops nimbly down to land in the muck at the back of the party. Happy to travel in the half-light of the shadows behind the rest, he tries to blend with the darkness as he moves quietly along.
“What a wonderful smell you’ve discovered,” he mutters softly to himself. Keeping his ears open he listens to make sure no one is following them.
”Everyone here?” Dwaye says as he looks around ”Looks like it, let’s go.” Dwaye then begins looking for ”The yellow signs”, then starts walking in whatever direction they point him in.

Reynard looks at the bugbear. “I travel the city without protection. Not every wealthy person needs hired muscle.”

Reynard nods at Deryus. “Agreed.”
He turns to look at the noble. “My lord, may we lead you out of here and back to more ... suitable surroundings? Unless you wish to accompany us?”

Renaer shakes his head. "It's my fault Floon was taken captive. It is my duty to see him safe again. I'm coming with you."
"Fine but don't get in the way if it is more then you can handle. " Kruk tells Renaer as he moves to leave the room and go back to the kenku. "If you know the way then start leading birds. If you do anything to mess with us I'll finish what you started earlier."
“Great,” replies Reynard. “So how do we find the sewer entrance?”

Kruk shrugs and drops down into the sewers, drawing his Greatsword as he lets the rest of the group decide what to do with the kenku.
