”You, don't want the money? Okay, so everyone gets one more gold piece, silver piece, and copper piece, except I'll take one for the team and not get a gold and silver piece, I have a lot of money from pit fighting, so I'm good.” Dwaye says as he hands out an extra GP & SP to everyone but himself & Reynard, then hands a CP to everyone but Reynard.
[Btw, who needs sleep? Amirite or amirite? It’s... Uh... 2 AM where I am...]
"Anyone else coming to look into the tunnel?" Reynard enquires of the group. "Because I'm always keen on enjoying more stench and filth..." he finishes with a cheeky grin.
Stepping forward and drawing his rapier, Reynard approached the tunnel, checking to see who was with him...
Reynard and Dwaye explore the tunnel; it goes maybe twenty or twenty five feet straight forward, at which point the tunnel ends. Above, faint rays of light stream down from the gaps around a flagstone. You could try getting up into the room above by lifting and pushing aside the flagstone, though it looks kind of heavy. (Athletics check if you wish.)
”Damn, nothing interesting...” Dwaye says as he walks back out of the tunnel ”Hm, we never did check that stone door in the main tunnel...” He says as he goes to Q1, carefully opening the door with his Warhammer readied.
[Edit: It's 3:30 AM, I'm going to go to sleep, I have school in like two days]
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Reynard looks at the flagstone above but knows strength is not his forte, so doesn't expect much... still, he's a positive person and who knows? Maybe it's not as heavy as it looks? he tries to shift it carefully aside.
“None of the spells in here seem to be ones I can use” Alton says before the party left.
He laughed at Reynard’s joke, then hesitated as maybe he wasn’t joking. “We got lucky.”
”I am ok with exploring some more. Now that the floor is dry.” The hin used prestidigitation to remove the muck stains from his boots. They will still need a good washing. He walked back to where he left his lantern, the beam still shining against one wall at the top of the stairs and throwing dim light into the rest of the room. Picking it up, he shouldered his lute again and walked back to the central spoke to examine it further.
Arcana or insight? 5
Once he is done examining the room and retrieved his belongings the halfling follows the group up the tunnel to the wine cellar. He looks up. ‘I’m going to need a lift” he says. “We should be below candle lane here still. I wonder if this is a bar!”
"A wine cellar? I'm up for investigating that!" Reynard tries to hoist himself up and into the cellar above him.
(Not sure which of these is appropriate; regardless of results, if I could choose which before rolling it would obviously be Acrobatics as he's +5 verus -1 !!) Athletics 4 or Acrobatics 17
All that Alton can infer is that the pillar is some kind of device which, when provided with the appropriate key, opened the portal that the mind flayer left through.
The party (or those that decide to go investigate I suppose; Dwaye is occupied elsewhere) is able to clamber up into the cellar without too much trouble.
Soar asks Alton to help get some of the sewer out of her armor, after she sees him clean himself up. "The armorers at the chapterhouse would thank you, as would my sense of smell."
She thanks Dwaye for splitting up the money, and she's mostly been sticking next to Floon and Renaer, making sure they're okay. She shows him the little paper origami bird they found in the hideout in an optimistic attempt to lift his spirits. Noting his reaction to the party members alternately pausing for extended periods of time and flitting off without warning to chase things or explore, she offers a smile and a shrug. If Floon needs a few minutes to recuperate, she'll follow behind Alton and Reynard to explore north, finding them at the grate and offering the halfling a boost, but she's reluctant to leave Floon behind. "See anything up there?" If there's trouble she'll pull herself up and help but otherwise let them explore.
(OOC: I'm not sure who was there searching the office with Soar - think it was Vanvalor who's not here anymore, so I'm just assuming Soar picked up the bird because she loves seeing beauty in otherwise drab and foreboding places.)
”I should probably get the others” Dwaye says to himself as he walks back to the main room. Not seeing anyone he thinks for a moment before going to the tunnel that the others are at before saying ”Hey team, there's a big stone door to the west, we should probably go check it out soon” As he hoists himself up into the wine cellar.
(I'm glad somebody remembered the paper bird, hehe. If you show it to Alton his detect magic spell shows that it is indeed magical, but doesn't tell you how to operate it.)
Judging by the labels, the wine seems of fairly new vintage. Judging by the sound from the stairway, it is occupied. Judging by the middle aged halfling man standing in the stairway, gesticulating wildly, it just may belong to him.
"Hey, yew! What are ya doin' in m'cellar sneaking around like sum filthy wererats?" The man looks more confused and scared than irate.
"Sir, forgive us, we are just lost down here. We had to rescue someone who was taken, and were just trying to explore a bit on our way out. We didn't know it was your cellar. Many apologies. We'll get out right away."
Soar's strong and comforting response is sincere and convincing, but might be more so if she were not standing in the sewer hallway while looking up through the flagstone hole in the ground.
(OOC: Ha! Soar was just thinking of the last nice thing she saw and wanted Floon to be able to delight in something. If Alton notices it's magical, she begins wondering out loud what magic it could possibly contain.)

Dwaye, leaving the group for a while to go explore on his own, opens up the stone door back in the main tunnel.
He finds a Z shaped room leading to another door, and by it another arrow slit.

Reynard is just barely able to move the large flagstone above him. He discovers above him what looks, and smells, like a musty wine cellar!
Faint light trickles in from stairs leading upward; maybe this is a way out of the sewers?

Reynard would like to search this place for:
a) Signs of who owns it?
b) Signs if it is in use or abandoned?
c) Signs of any quality wine. :D

“Where next?”
