Taran doesn't move, though the tremors play across his body and his eyes are prickling from staring. He's being torn apart by the voice and his own instincts, his training on risk and his training to obey. The crossbow is unaffected, it is as true as death, though it has ceased to rise and remains pointed at the spie's knees. That shot will slow them, prevent them from fleeing or getting past them to the others where they could take hostages. The kill shot would be second. More important to immobilize first.
But he can't make the call, he shouldn't make the call. That wasn't his place. It was his place to execute the order. So, he teeters on the edge, waiting.
Jharee's voice hardens. "I've got my own spare clothes, thanks. And you're not using your magic or...whatever on me." He opens his bag and reaches into it, digging around in it. "For all I know, you'll use a spell that'll make me say whatever you want so you can kill me and cover your bases. How would any of us know, after all? So either kill me, stop threatening me, or take the other six and I'll go back to going on my own like I was before. Maybe try and make it to Syrkarn."
“Jharee. You still haven’t answered where and how did you get this clothes? You say off a Thousand Eye but I don’t see any signs of a struggle on those clothes. No blood or rips or anything. Can you answer the question and answer it truthfully? We want to make sure you’re safe, that we’re safe, and that the other refugees are safe. That means no stone left unturn. Nothing left to chance. So....help us help you and tell us. Where did you get those clothes? Exactly how did you get them?” Vishal asks once again trying to persuade the man as best as he can.
" If that's the way you want to play this, take your chances and go to the wild frontier, for all I care. My job is to bring you refugees back safely, but loudmouths like you aren't included in the bargain, especially if they refuse to follow orders. "
He turns to the others.
" You all should go now if you want to get there in time. You know where I'll be. "
He then turns his back on the group and starts walking back towards his old hiding place. After a few paces, he looks over his shoulder - still streaked with grass stains and dried bird droppings - and calls out to Taran:
" Stop pointing your thing at that fool's knees. C'mon over here, help me cover up. "

"Alright, listen up everyone!" he shouts so that everyone in the party can hear him, as well as the others refugees. "We have no joy in asking this hard questions, since we don't know you and you don't know us." he starts moving towards Jharee "We ask you questions so that we can better determine if you legitimate or a spy. In fact, as some of you we got intel suggesting that there are indeed Thousand Eyes agents in this village. So you understand why we must be cautious with everyone right now." He draws a pipe from his backpack as a well Derrstalker hat which he promptly puts on his head and points to Jharee "You, Jharee. Let's look at the facts:" he takes a puff from the pipe, exhaling a small cloud of smoke and casting Friends on Jharee.
"Fact #1: You came alone, with a very cautions look on you face. By itself, not something unusual giving the circumstances but you also can't provide an alibi or corroborate your story. Fact #2: Speaking of story, you mention you were a simple farmer, but you gained magical powers somehow and with not magic or survival training, managed to escape trained Thousand Eye's agents that came for you Fact #3: My colleagues picked up something magical on your clothes. Magical clothes apparently. On a farmer. Fact #4: When asked some time and position related questions, you casually mentioned that you just happen to cross Dul Zeer... the Thousand Eyes' greatest stronghold! Nothing gets past them, with all the scrying, remote viewing crystals and teleportation circles. Not unless they want to. Fact #5: You also mentioned that passing Dul Zeer is when you came across the Thousand Eyes' agents. But in Fact #1 you said they came to you in your farm, when you discovered your magical powers. Which one is it? Or did you escape trained Thousand Eyes' skilled agents twice with no military or magic training? Fact #6: Regarding the magical clothes, only when questioned about it you took some time saying that you took them from the Thousand Eyes's agent. Which one? the one in Fact #1 or Fact #5? And how did you happen to convince a fully trained agent to make part of his magic and valuable clothing? Did you killed him? Did you stole from him? Big balls for a farm boy. Fact #7: You mention you ran into the agent. Was that when he came from you when you showed magical powers in your farm and when you passed their highly vigilant stronghold? In both cases, I find it strange you ran into them and not the other way around, wouldn't you say? Fact #8: Not only you you mentioned you ran into the agent but you also said he wasn't deliberately hunting you. How's that possible? They hunt all magic users, for recruitment. And they also hunt those foolish enough to casually stroll near their base of operations. Fact #9: Despite all that, you claim he wasn't looking for you and that you run into him... and then you said you ambushed him. How can you ambush someone you are not aware they are looking for you? Again, with no apparent training. Fact #10: Despite all that you claim you manage to kill him and got rid of his body. Why did you take his clothes? Fact #11: How exactly did you killed him? Normal people usually use swords or daggers. Between that and the poison magic you showed us, there should be some damage on your clothings. Our estimeed colleague Vishal didnt' seemed to notice any. Is he right?"
Juhaan stops for a few seconds catching his breath and giving multiple puffs to his smoke "You can see that some of things you told us are not adding up my friends. You can also see that my colleagues are starting to become nervous with such... shadiness you may say. Now you have two options: come clean with us and explain everything. Or we have no choice but to take more drastic measures.... since you've seen our faces and know how many we are, for the safety of everyone. Please chose wisely." Juhaan finally adds, hands at the dueling cane at the ready but trying to look casually holding it.

At Juhaan's impressive array of facts, Jharee sighs. "You just had to keep pushing. You green guides." He nods his head at the refugees clustered at the back of the clearing. "Didn't want any of them to get hurt, they could have been saved by the il-altas." In a swift, fluid motion, he withdraws a carved wooden box from his bag, flipping it open (Taran, this would trigger your readied action, but not stop him from doing this). As the box opens, a silvery mist bursts out, spreading with a soft, shrieking noise that batters at your very minds, trying to drag you into unconsciousness.
Everyone is within range of this, and must make a DC 12 Wis ST. I'll roll this round to save time since they're all at the same time, but the rest will be up to you during your turns. Fail or success, each person needs to repeat the save at the start of their turn when they are in the mist. Once you exit the mist, it will hang in your lungs and cling to your clothes for two additional rounds, necessitating a reduced DC 10 save.
Jharee shakes his head and snatches the bag from the ground, backing towards the trees. As those of you who fail your save drift into unconsciousness, you hear, "But now I'll have to kill all the witnesses."

Everyone who fails their save is unconscious. Someone unconscious uses their action for a save. A success means you're awake for the next round. Example: Taran fails his initial save and is unconscious. Taran fails the next save and stays unconscious for the next round. Taran succeeds at his next save and can take a movement and a bonus action. At the start of his next turn, Taran succeeds at his save and can take a full turn. The next round, Taran fails his save and is unconscious again. And so on for ten rounds. LMK in the Discord if you have questions, this is a slightly confusing item.

Vishal begins to loudly cough at the gas and struggles to fight off the sleepy gas. His quori spirit giving him that little extra bump he needs to stay conscious. His eyes glowing blue as he focuses on his magic Vishal takes out his chakram and traces it, blue magical energy coming off of it that he blasts towards Jharee hoping the magic takes effect. (Casting Faerie Fire DC 13) “Lanan and Dulamul keep everyone else safe!” Vishal instructs loudly as he moon walks out of the mist and runs towards Taran (stopping at P7) and giving him a calming encouraging hand on the back as he whispers, “You can do this.” (Bardic Inspiration)

Jharee Save: 6
Jharee manages to dodge Taran's bolt and avoid the magical blast from Vishal and climbs the tree rapidly, vanishing into the leaves.
Anybody who has a PP of 15 spots him and can make attacks as normal. Anybody who does not must use a bonus action to make a Perception check to spot him.
Lanan draws his sword and readies an action. Dulamul starts quietly moving the refugees further back from the fight.
"You can do this" the words echo, but he is already moving to stumble out of the mist.
Save: 16
The smoke clings to his clothes, but he has more important concerns. He darts up and around, cresting the hollow. (Move to K11 if possible, not sure if the walls are difficult terrain)
First goal, find the enemy and any reinforcements. Know the number of targets so they aren't surrounded. (Bonus action perception: 18 , and I'd like to look over the grasslands for any approaching forces.)
He's too well hidden. Plans flit through his mind. No tools to burn the tree and remove the enemies cover, not quick enough anyway. He can't remain hidden and attack, not while he's watching, but would it be enough?
Doubtful. Best plan, copy. Take cover and make sure the next shot counts. He blends into the grass, waiting, hunting.
Taran keeps from falling asleep as he escapes the mist. The walls are gently sloped, and it only costs an additional 5 ft of movement to crest them, so you can move to K11.
