This day passes without incident as well. Liana doesn't seem to relax much around Caelius, still giving short or evasive answers to his questions, and there are a few narrow escapes from Inspired patrols, but night finds you safely camped in a cave, Liana once more sitting at the edge of the firelight and staring into the darkness. Luiri takes up a post near the mouth of the cave, doing his shaggy boulder impression while the rest of you relax (or don't) and wind down for the evening.

Same deal as before. Do any rp you want, then roll your Day 3 rolls. If nothing is posted for 24 hours, I'll have you roll, but you know, if there's nothing you want to rp out, saying that in Discord would be preferred so that we don't just stall out for a whole day.

More focused on her armour, Kaori makes a bit less noise today, but she still clinks and clanks about.

As the night comes, Akuma helps the others set up the camp before moving to sit next to Liana to have a simple hushed conversation.

Taran would head over to sit next to Luiri, waiting for a moment, before asking the question that had come to mind during the long trek today, "M-Mister L-Luiri, i-is th-there... is th-there s-s-somewhere w-we sh-should g-g-go in the T-Tundra? W-We c-c-could c-c-certainly h-hole u-up o-or w-w-wander f-for a f-few d-days o-or a w-w-week, but, w-would th-there b-be a d-d-destination you w-w-would r-recommend?"

Luiri turns his head to look at Taran. "Don't know," he rumbles. "Never left the range before. Slopeseer says there are very small people called Akiak who also hate Inspired. If you find them, they might help."

"M-Maybe, b-b-but I do n-not w-want to put m-more p-people at risk." Taran says after a long moment, "Y-You're p-people have d-d-done m-much f-for us, an-and we have d-done n-nothing for you. Asking even m-more k-kind strangers f-for aid... it would f-feel gr-greedy I think."

Taran's hands move without much conscious thought, pulling out a jar of oil and tending to his fletching and strings, "I w-wonder if it was h-her beauty that caused us to f-fail." Taran muses, "Th-The S-Storm Daughter, sh-she w-w-was m-magnificent... and m-maybe th-that w-was wh-why I-I w-was so sl-slow to r-react to her f-fury. I th-think th-the th-third b-bolt n-nearly stopped my heart. Wh-What... wh-what w-w-will you d-d-do, s-since w-w-we have f-failed?"

Vishal sends a secret telepathic message to Akuma while she’s talking to the refugee, “Can you figure out where she’s from? I know her somehow I just don’t know how and she’s kind of scared of me.” 

After a discussion, Akuma stands from where she had sat beside Liana, hovers for a moment in the last of conversation, then returns to the others around the fire, finding one of the shadowed corners nearby to sit down, giving a slight nod to Vishal along the way. Anyone close enough can see her wave her hand, a small black flame of shadows forming and dancing neatly in her palm as she watches it quietly and calmly. 

Kaori has her sword laid across both hands as she sits at the fire, looking at the blade with a bit of sadness as she turns it in her hands. She visibly flinches whenever her armour makes noise and tries her best to stay as quiet as possible.

Luiri chuckles. "From what slopeseer has said, Akiak will be glad to help you. Kind they are not, but they hate the Inspired with everything they have." He tilts his head at Taran. "Lightning bringer has been quiet since you went up the mountain. Perhaps you scared her off, or Inspired moved her. Even if not, we survive. We always do."

Taran finishes oiling the strings, putting the jar away, pulling out a second jar of laquer for keeping the old wood of his crossbow strong.

"I-I h-h-hope sh-she f-fled." He says, "I f-fear f-for her. Sh-She i-is m-making d-d-decisions in a-anger th-that w-w-will only h-harm herself." Taran rubs the wood with a stiff cloth, working the laquer in to keep the water and ice from warping the wood, "I w-w-will m-mention the A-Akiak t-to th-the o-others, th-they m-may w-w-wish to s-seek them out. Th-Thank y-you ag-again M-Mister Luiri, I d-do n-not kn-know wh-what w-would have b-become of us i-if you h-had n-not ch-chosen to aid us."

Luiri gives Taran a craggy smile. "Does not matter. We did, and you are here now."

Taran chuckles, "I-I s-s-suppose y-you are r-r-right."

Taran puts down the rag, reaching for the trigger mechanism and slowly twisting it, revealing a small, yellow sun painted on the inside, "I-I t-tend t-t-to w-w-worry a lot ab-about wh-what ifs, o-or m-maybes..."

Luiri reaches out a massive hand and pats Taran's shoulders. "Past is past. Present matters now, and future, equally important."

Taran nods, letting the trigger flip back, and putting away the jar of laquer. "Th-Thank y-you, M-Mister L-Luiri." Taran says standing up, "I-I n-n-need t-to tr-train n-now, b-but I w-will th-think on it."

Taran moves off to practice his sword katas, and work on his dodging.  

The next morning, Taran again conceals and covers the campsite, before setting out again to lead the group towards the Tundra.

Akuma falls into her usual formation for the days travel, staying center group as everyone gets ready to head out. However, she does keep a curious watch on Liana periodically throughout their days journey.
