Bert's going to insight check Kella on her story about coming here and getting knocked out: 5
"I saw one of the goblins downstairs had a bolt in its head, which I assume is yours. Now that you're awake and there are even fewer goblins, what's your plan? Where were you headed?"
Bert's traveled around a lot, and seen many people from lots of backgrounds in Waterdeep especially, so he's trying to see if he recognizes her. Is she wearing traditional monk clothing?
She seems to be telling the truth. The clothing is a form of traditional monk clothing.
"I will continue on my journey. I might wait here a couple of days to see if the villagers return and if they do I will help them. If they do not return I will move on, head maybe along the coast, past Waterdeep."
Who wants to wake up this Greenie here and see what he knows? Make sure you check that he is well bound before you do!
(OOC: also, I haven’t added anything to my equipment/inventory yet, did Bert give Hawk something or not yet? Just want to make sure we are clear on who is carrying what so we don’t double our gains by mistake)
"I understand. Well let us know if we can do anything to help, and if you'd like to help us make sure the village is safe, we'd appreciate it!" Bert says, exiting the room and heading downstairs.
He walks down to Hawk and sits down next to him at the table. "I think this potion might give you a temporary boost in case we see trouble again. Is there anything I can do to help fix you up? You're not looking great. Good idea about the goblin, maybe Krakkan can handle the interrogation?" Bert checks to make sure he's tied up well.
He fills Hawk in on Kella's story, and also what he found in the chest. Bert's been quietly giving 7.5 gold to each of the party members as he sees them, with the caveat that if they see the inn's owner again, they might want it back. If anyone else wants to hold onto a jewel that's okay with Bert. He's enthusiastically trying to give away the chain mail and the helm too, and if no one wants to use it, he suggests Krakkan might carry it because he's so strong.
Has Forge's owl seen sign of any other goblins other than the ones in the farmyard next door? If not, Bert suggests that after an interrogation, or perhaps before, they go next door to take out the two remaining goblins. If there are more, then he thinks there's more planning to do. "We're in a decent spot here, but Hawk's really hurt and we still don't know what's going on. Oh and there's that keep with the broken bridge, right? Do we want to check that out after the goblins in town aren't threatening anymore?"
Alf sees no more goblins on the North side of the village apart from the farmyard (though he can't see inside). Who knows what is on the south side.
"I would help you but I am still not feeling quite right in the head after being hit. I feel I would be a burden. I will stay here and try to recover and will make sure if any more goblins enter they die. If you need a safe space this will be it."
Bert also starts to theorize with Hawk about the missing big stone, the boulder attack, the giants, and the goblins. "So it seems like the giants showed up, threw a bunch of boulders at the town, came in, stole the stone somehow, and carried it off somehow. Then the goblins stayed behind, or maybe showed up after, and looted the place. Or maybe I'm totally wrong!"
Have we seen any bodies of villagers since we've been here?
Zook also sits down with Bert and Hawk to discuss the situation at hand. He takes out the bottle and alows himself one more small sip, savoring the intense smoky flavor and strong, mouth tingling sensation the whisky provides.
“This is an odd mystery indeed. What would giants want with the Nightstone? It must have some importance, if they were in the mind to destroy an entire village such as this. I also think that we should have a look at the other areas here, but given the extent of Hawk’s injuries, perhaps we should consider resting for the night here inside the inn, so that he may recover. Or perhaps, Mandaway could provide him with some divine healing. Either way, we should walke up our sleeping goblin friend soon and see what he knows.”
"If we think he will stay quiet and not shout for his companions while we question him, I'm fine questioning him now. If he'll just shout the whole time and we have no way of keeping him quiet, then we should go out and eliminate the threats of those two goblins I saw at the farm. I'm not seeing any options of how to talk to him without him sounding the alarm, so why don't I and Krakkan and Forge go and take out the goblins, while Mandaway and Hawk watch our captive. Zook, what do you think? Forge, does your owl see where the goblins are now?"
Bert prepares to go, letting the others who aren't there know about his proposal.
“I definitely see the merits of taking that approach, and given that we do not know how many other greenies are out there, I would offer to go with you and offer additional hands, eyes and feet. The more the merrier, right?”
Hawk takes the coins (7 gp and 5 sp) from Bert, as well as the potion.
I will keep this potion for when it is absolutely necessary, if the time comes before I get some more rest. For now, I am good to keep an eye out on the Greenie here, but do call me if you guys need help with the other two Greenies out there. After that, I think we should finish exploring the town, there is still much for us to uncover here I believe. I hope the townsfolk are okay somewhere safe! I think they are the priority, before we spend time thinking about the Stone thing!
(OOC: What time of the day is it? I feel like it can be much later that early afternoon since it was about noon when we got to the town?)
"Give me one moment I'll go take a quick look around." and Forge will use Alf to take a little flight around the Inn area just to see if he can spot the goblins or anything new.
Hawk feels a wave of energy fill him. He watches as his scratches and cuts become healed scars, and feels the bruises on his knees, the weakness of his muscles and any remnant pain leave his body. He feels great! He could still use a good night sleep later, but for now he is ready to get back into action!
He looks up to the sky and says: Cat Lord, was that you?
Then he notices Mandaway making some gestures and realizes the energy is flowing from him: Mandy? You're amazing, I didn't know you could do that! Perhaps your god ... Eldass.. Eldart.. ELDATH! is more powerful than I first thought! Thanks mate!
He gets up and goes in for a feline hug (if Mandaway accepts it, otherwise just a hand shake).
Mandaway accepts the hug and maybe holds it a little too long for Hawks comfort.....it is the first hug Mandaway has had in a very, very long time.....
" No worries. Everyone else alright?"

" Well, I was just thinking....if they took it then it might be the reason the giants came here. Cos it certainly wasn't goblins that carried it off."

You haven't. Though you have only been in the temple, the inn, the graveyard and the square. So there is a lot of areas you haven't looked at.

Mandaway looked up when he heard his name, he had been trying to think of what use for this particular big black rock might exist.
" Whose hurt most? I can do two of ye then I'm spent til dawn prayers....well, I can probably manage some little stuff..."
Bert says he hasn't been touched - but he thought Hawk could use some healing.
