Genome tells you all It will be atleast five days at the pace you all can manage. But we shall see, shan't we? ((Give me a faint, description of what each of your characters are thinking about. Also the dice have determined the walk back is gonna be... a little crazy.))
Rose wakes up.in a cold sweat and needs to take a few moments to remind herself that it was simply a dream. Still, she was nervous until she saw Gwen uo and moving around, only then could she sigh in relief. Rose ate her rations quickly and lent her aid where needed, likely helping Paavu collect the rest if the gold and secure it as best they could. Unless her help was needed elsewhere she simply suited up and readied herself for more likely awful creatures ahead. Before heading out she would gather the others for a brief pep talk of sorts.
I'm sure I don't need to say this people but the road ahead is only going to get more dangerous. But we took a dragon head on as well as all the annoying vermin here. The spider doesn't stand a chance. I have faith that we will pull through. So if any of you have any doubts leave them here. Whatever doubts you may have about yourself, you were sent here because the gods knew we needed you to succeed. Her words, laced with a bit of magic, would hopefully give Cirrus a bit more confidence and keep him vigilant on the road ahead (Vigilant Blessing As an action, you give one creature you touch (including possibly yourself) advantage on the next initiative roll the creature makes. Once on the road Rose listened to the Dopplegangers history lesson with interest, but she kept to herself still not trusting the creature fully. Even still her primary concern right now was Gwen, last nights dream weighed heavily on her mind and as such she often found her self walking closer to Gwen than normal. Five days it is then. Your spider friend only has five days to live. Rose marched forward hoping to give off an air of confidence, not wanting to let others see her own worry and doubts about the road ahead.
"Unless you choose to turn upon us, it will not be Paavu's hands wet with your lifeblood... As of the fate of your kind, do not so easily submit yourself to it. There are always other paths you can choose. Even if harder at times, there is fulfillment in accepting toil, and in defying one's so called 'racial' fate. This, you understand as much, least you would have already simply become thief or temporary lord long enough to secure the wealth to lounge for the rest of your existence already." He chuckles. "Or you can even become the most sought after prostitute in some big city for your 'particular' talents. A hedonistic life style, but one the least likely to result in catching a blade to the skull or a shiv in back." He say as much during the Zone of Truth time.
"Or maybe you take it easy for time as someone else without needing another's face... But, always there is choice. And with one of your abilities, you have more of them than you think. And Fie to any would be conqueror or cabal with goals that will inevitably lead to a bad end for them." He finishes, waving his hand dismissively. If the Doppleganger -- Genome had more to say on that, he would listen and ponder, but leave any further replies for the next day. Even his surface thoughts backs his claims as-is, as Paavu was one to typically speak them. The only time not was the past suggesting of payman for certain services. To which, he briefly thought of a firey-haired yet stone-skinned woman, before immediately shunting that thought to the back and half-heartedly glared at Genome(at the time).
(I have the imagery, in case it becomes relevant)
When morning comes, and no dream can be remembered, Paavu sighed a bitter sweet sigh of relief. For there were stories yet untold by the goliath. Old memories that, if not for the passage of time and his own resolve, might've left him weeping by daybreak. As it stands, he still spent the first few minutes of alertness just idly petting Yue to let the rest of himself catch up. After any last minute exchanging of items, Paavu is sure to rouse the others. Any pep talk he leaves to Rose, and is quite thankful for at that, if the shoulder pat is anything to go by before the group carry on the road. Of Paavu's thoughts, they are clear in his agreement about the spider's fate: An end at the group's hands, one way or another. Any imagery in mind presumes the spider to be some drow. Of any regarding Genome, there is only the phrase 'We all have a Choice'

(To All: Everyone can and should add 1,000 gp somewhere to their sheet. This is for carrying purposes. Though Paavu can 'technically' carry it all in his pack even going with the coins encumbermant rules, even for a goliath sized backpack maybe giving him an extra 10 to 20 lbs to work with, 5'000 gp worth a gold still breaks the limit of one back pack by a good 2,000 or so. So, let it be assumed everyone's carrying about 1,000 each, not including Genome, but definitely including Gwen, with Paavu holding onto the extra remaining 701 for now.)
(Regarding the scrolls, given DM's ruling on them previously, Burgee should perhaps be holding the lightning bolt one and Cirrus the misty step one to get himself out of danger perhaps a bit easier.)

He felt an energy when he held it or focused on it. He tucked it into his backpack and left a few things so that he could carry the additional gold. "I can carry that share," he says to Paavu before they set out.
As they continue down the path, he thinks about the past, and wonders if this spider may have any secrets about flight, and how to restore that gift to his kind. Someone must know and if he could just fly...

In response to Rose, Cirrus nods, still a little shaken from his dream, "Y-yes, I believe you are right. I do not know why I was singled out, but this" he says, referring to the staff of healing, "is proof to me that my mission in this world is to help foster life, perhaps atonement for the pain I caused in my last world is not an impossibility..."
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
Between Paavu and rose the previous day, and with five of oyu splitting it, you're able to get the majority of the gold easily enough, however you do have to leave a small chunk behind or else drop other items in your possession due to sheer volume, unless given to Genome, you are able to get 4968 GP between you all. The morning comes easily enough, and Genome hasn't moved. As everyone gets up Gwen seems to be distracted and in thought. After a brief breakfast you all begin to move, and Paavu begins talking to Genome... And after his small speech, it would say You speak as though these have not already been considered. And not every one of my kind is able to do what you say so easily. It is not as if we are chameleons. We must imitate more than just appearance. But should by the fate of some patronizing diety I should live, I will see what I do from there. But there are no heroes in this world. And you will all learn that soon enough. And as for you, Gnome....halfling... We shall see. You find overconfidence far too easily.
Making your way out the northern side of Thundertree, heading almost directly west, with a few caveat, or otherwise forced turns, it looked as though you were all being led to mountains. As the day pressed on Gwen had remained silent. But eventually noticed that Rose was playing like a chihuahua, and heeling. Mmm... Whats the matter sweetheart? Feeling cold so you wanted to stay close to share warmth or something? You did qake up in an odd state but didn't say anything so, I figured when you wanted to tell me you would. But it seems like somehting is bothering you pretty badly. I've never seen you act so..... so...... Huh, for once I can't think of the right word, what a shame that is for a bard huh? You know I mean you're acting odd though. Anything I can do to assuage whatever it is? regardless, if a response was given, Gwen would reply as best as she could.
Burgee would sense metaphorical dark clouds on the horizon, as if fate itself was attempting to thwart the party's advance,,, and he sensed a road, laden with hostility. Paavu sensed a great series of battles ahead.
After any responses---
The party is moving through the forest, and at about midday... as they are passign between two massive hill-like mountains, through a valley, they spot a fork a branching path. But at the bottom end of that fork, is a pair of Trolls, feasting on a slain ownbear. For now, the party has not been noticed, and options are limited. There is a valley pass far to the left, but it still passes nearby the pair of trolls, you could also attempt to climb the forested hills. Just to name a few options. Or.. you can fight.

(Man, my roleplaying is really suffering because of this school semester...)
Before heading out, in response to Genome, "Wait, 'He has many resources?' The Black Spider is a man? I thought the Black Spider we have pursuing was the drow woman you disguised yourself as? Was there ever a drow woman, or was that merely a disguise you created?"
Later:
When Cirrus notices the fork in the road and the trolls, he asks "Genome, is our journey taking us to the left?"
I'd like to roll to see what Cirrus knows about trolls:
I know it might be cheating to do two rolls for the same thing, but I remember one of your house rules...
If you're wanting to see if your character knows something VERY SPECIFIC roll a 1d4. 1-2 you know nothing. 2-4 you know exactly what you're seeking (such as a weakness).
I'm trying to see If Cirrus has read about their regeneration ability (4)
Regardless of the results:
"None of us are thinking of fighting those things, right? They're like giant, bald, ugly bugbears. I think it would be smarter to try to avoid them as best we can." If Cirrus remembers any critical information about Trolls, he will say it now. "Think of it this way, what if we kill these things, and then tonight we get ambushed by more zombies before we have a chance to recover? Let's try to avoid fights that we can see coming, to conserve energy for the ones we can't, eh?"
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
As far as the management of coin went, Paavu would've looked to Gwen on the final word, as it was her group's coin. If left to him, he'd bury the rest somewhere close to their resting spot deep beneath snow and earth, then marking the spot subtly enough via the building so that most casual onlookers would pass it by. A nice nest egg to later pick up if any found there way back to Thundertree. Regardless of the results, he himself didn't mind Genome carrying the coin one way or the other, assuming they were willing to in the first place. It certainly not something he would force.
Later..
As the day pressed on, but before meeting the Trolls(sort of), Paavu keeps a fairly close eye on Genome. Knowing what little he knew of their people, he tries to keep his surface thoughts fairly mundane. But he was no wizard, artificer, or some other egg head used to mental multitasking. Whether something slips to the forefront or not, any observed changes would be telling enough add credence to the concerns forming in mind. His goal, in the end, would be to piece together their conversations and the reactions of the creature up to then, compare it to the now, and gleam whether or not Genome was willing to die for the Black Spider's cause just to escape some supposed worse fate, or had enough faith to truly lead them right and gamble on the 50/50 of the group's success. That, and if there was something more to Genome. A cursed mark or some such at work that they've been careful to obscure up to this point.
No matter his conclusions, the group face trolls, and Paavu's hand rests heavily atop Hew; his itch for battle clear. "More Orc than bugbears... and yes. Considered, if no other way. We aren't, as been said before, the stealthiest." He reminds calmly. "And anything that would disturb their meal, be it fog or silence will stir them from their meal into actively searching.. and eventually finding us. Still, what say you Genome? Are either the way we can or must go to reach our destination?" He asked while trying to recall anything and everything he could on trolls.
Genomes words only served to annoy the Cleric and forced her to embolden her spirit even further. Pushing the doubts further away Rose says confidently I have every reason to be confident. Selûne put us on this path and there forever we cannot fail. To think otherwise is simply foolish. Your spider friend will see the light, even if I have to drag them to it. Rose would repeat that in her head several times throughout the journey, hoping to boost her confidence.
When Gwen started to catch on that something was a bit wrong Rose sinply smiled and said It's fine hun. Just a bit...on edge. It'll be fine. I'd rather not go into it more with...it...nearby. The last bit said in a whisper so only Gwen would hear. Still Rose kept close to Gwen's side, unable to shake off last nights dream.
When the group found the trolls Rose eyed them with mixed feelings of yearning to crush something but also a desire to not fight random beasts when much larger prey lay ahead. I think Cirrus is right. If we can avoid the fight we should try. Save our strength for our real foes.
Burgee waits to hear Genome's reply as to which path they need to take before agreeing with Rose and Cirrus, "Agreed. No since fighting what is not needed. Our goal," he says, "is the map. And sooner rather than later." But has he says it, he knows it is not the full truth. For it is a much greater prize that he seeks. And it is from gods and magic that his end goal would be found. So, if they could find and face this Spider and live to tell the tale, perhaps that could get him closer to finding the lost words that could restore him and his kind to the realm of the skies. He thought of soaring through the wind and though the path ahead gave him cause for fear, the thought of floating through the air with the wind flowing through his feathers lightened his step and put an ever so slight grin on his face.

Nothing more than a face I stole. Genome says in response to Cirrus' question. You will never truly know if you are speaking to someone, or one of my kind. We're .. everywhere. Genome said with a slight smirk that faded quickly. You all choose to bury the remaining gold behind the tower in a pile of brush, after killing yet another twigblight.
Later as the party is moving, Genome is carefully scanning everyone's thoughts. Genome can tell Rose is worried about Gwen, for seemingly no good reason. Gwen doesn't mind the closeness but is ..curious.. Paavu is studying Genome, which only makes it smirk more as Paavu's attempts to conceal his thoughts are working as intended yet, in doing so also reveals his own concerns.. as they say 'sometimes its not what you say, but what you don't say' and so on...Burgee's mind was stormy, but focused, it was clear even without deper probing what his desires were and everything here was just a means to an end. Cirrus always seemed worried or concerned about the past.. and things that happened there. Genome would take note of these in their memory.
Once the pair of trolls came into sight, and the group began huddling to decide what they would do next, and clearly the most anyone in the party knew about trolls was that they were dangerous, and little else... Gwens answer being the only one not stated.. I agree with the others, we should avoid it if we can help it. I don't know much about them but they aren't exactly spoken of as easy marks. Let us try to avoid them for now. And just be ready for if they see us. Gwen leans in and gives Rose as peck on the lips, magic flowing from her and into Rose giving her inspiration I know you're not the quietest, so maybe that will help.... she whispers into Rose's ear.
Group Stealth Roll DC 5: (17 / 3 + 1 / 14 / 14 / 17)
Rose nearly fails were it not for Gwens inspiring kiss, the trolls would have set upon the group, while Paavu all but vanishes from notice, if not for already knowing where he was you all likely would have lost track of him. With some time wasted, you manage to sidle around the trolls unnoticed. And once feeling secure that the trolls wouldn't hear if you continued normally, Eventually, the valley opens again, and you all notice Genome never answered if the path was necessary, though Paavu, having been divining Genomes intents and action, has thus far concluded that in true neutrality, Genome has accepted that this is what is going to happen, and they seem intent to just see it through, whatever end may come, but that they also derive some degree of pleasure from others torments or confusion. Or as Paavu would likely put it "They are true to their word but they're an ******* too"
As everyone sets in for the night, and watches are handled, the night itself goes by peacefully, if a bit cold, but thanks once more to your specialized clothing and armors. Morning comes, and everyone partakes of their rations, and proceeds. The journey continuing westward. It isn't long into it however that you find yourselves wandering through a large cave. An eerie thrum can be heard throughout it, but Genome assures you that that is always there. The thrum doesn't hurt you, it is merely annoying, and ever present like the hum of a machine in the background, but amplified. Halfway through it however (19 / 20) at some point, Paavu hears noises just faintly through the thrum, while Gwen and Rose, the only ones with any form of darkvision remain unaware. It sounds like fluttering of flesh.. agitated. In the tunnel above you all after Paavu points this out in some fashion, Gwen and rose look up, to see a swarm of stirges coming down from the massive ceiling! No surprise on anyone's part, normal engagement.
The tunnel roof is about 80ft above you, and the tunnel itself is roughly 30 feet wide (map soon) Genome runs to and presses themselves against the wall. ((For ease of combat, if you hit 14 + on ac, and deal more than 1 damage, you can assume a target is dead)
((It's safe to assume that Stirges do not consume space, so you can be in the same space as multiple Stirges without penalty) Editing
((Speaking of inspiration, Burgee gets DM inspiration for the events at the tower. Forgot to mention it before - and you can thank Paavu's insane perception for spotting the trolls))
Party is up with an 18 vs 13 roll lead. The stirges are 40 feet above you all and closing in fast, and you can also tell this initial batch isn't the only wave.
(Ah.. apologies... i forgot after my computer died.. i lost my map maker and haven't reinstalled it yet.. so theater of the mind, they'll be flying in swarms of 5 about 10 feet apart from each other.)

Seeing Genome run off to the side, Paavu couldn't grunt in a conflicted bit of mild annoyance. But understanding the being as he did, and needing them alive for that matter, the goliath pushed off the act, and focused once more on the creatures above. Though his first thought is to go for Pig Sticker, feeling its loss as his side, he grunts again, and goes for 'Hew' instead, readying to strike the moment even one of the buggers came within reach.
Just before then, runes about the armor glow as strength increases to its limit.
Bonus Action: Active Ise Rune, making STR score 20.
Action:(Ready to use) Hew - To Hit: 24 For: 9 magical slashing damage(not tha tit matters).
Burgee calls upon the raging powers of a Nor'easter and raises his staff and a frigid streak of light streaks toward one of the creatures dropping it out of the sky. Burgee gets ready for the rest of the swarm that he knows will soon be upon them all. (Attack: 21 Damage: 4)
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
Rose draws her hammer but instead of trying to swing at the besties clearly out of her reach she bides her time. Only when the stirdges were right up on them would a flash of light burst from where she was standing burning the weakest stirges. (Action hold to cast Word of Radiance on as many of them as poss. DC 13 con save or take 6 radiant damage)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As they descend upon you all from on high, the few of you with ranged abilities go at it as best you can. When one gets near, Paavu slits the little shit in half, partially digested and coagulated blood spattering onto everyone nearby. A ray of ice freezing one of them completely, only for it to eventually fall to the earth and shatter into a spray of ice and blood. Cirrus draws his crossbow and aims it almost straight up, quite a dangerous feat (1) Luckily it lands between the group and doesn't hit anyone on the way down. Rose however waits for a them to actually reach her and just when a swarm of them was about to surround her to make a snack out of her tiny frame... a burst of light illuminates the cave, and five of them vanish in an instant! disintegrated by Selunes power.
Eight of the creatures die in a moment of brutality, the remaining 12 descend on the group. Unfortunately the flash of light attracted the attention of the remaining Stirges within the cave... Thirty more beginning to descend.
As the stirges finally get in range, with quite a few of them vanishing instantly as they chose the wrong midget to assail, (4, 1)
(3)
Four of them flock at Cirrus, attempting to drain him of his lifeblood... (Attack: 22 Damage: 4 - Attack: 25 Damage: 11 - Attack: 21 Damage: 6 - Attack: 24 Damage: 5)
Three of them avoided but in so doing, Cirrus fails to see the third one, as it latches on, it's probing tendril piercing through armor and flesh, as it begins to drain him of blood (5 damage)
He manages to block ones advance, but as he does, two latch onto his armpits, while one pierces his neck, all draining blood from his body in a violent suction (14 damage)
the last four, seek larger prey.. seeking after Paavu's flesh, but they're smart enough to go behind him and attack at his back, as they do with Trolls....
As the first bugger swoops down toward Burgee, he holds his staff up calling for protection and a shield envelops him, but that first little bugger manages to still hit him as the shield is going up. But it helps to deflect the attacks of the others until another persistent creature swoops in to bite him. "Ouch!, These things are everywhere," he exclaims and he swats the last one in an attempt to zap it like a bug light would. (Attack: 16 Damage: 6)
Raised shield as a reaction bumping AC to 17 until my next turn.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Although Paavu had half a mind to enlarge himself and try flopping on the insects, the thought of making a fool of himself in such a way nixes the thought. "Unless you catch number of them with ice shard magics again, we must persevere. Anything too loud, and they may be the least of our problems." Paavu admits, as spun around swinging twice over in a surge of adrenaline fueled fury.
Action: Attack a Stirge attacking him. Hew - To Hit: 27 For: 7 magical slashing damage.
Adrenaline Surge: Attack a Stirge attacking him. Hew - To Hit: 26 For: 12 magical slashing damage.

I'd like to roll to see what Cirrus knows about trolls:
here is the d20 version:
I guess this is nature? 5
d4 version:
I know it might be cheating to do two rolls for the same thing, but I remember one of your house rules...

Insight: 23.

Initiatives: Burgee - 21 Cirrus - 8 Paavu 8 Rose 8 Gwen 17
Enemy: - 13 - 9 - 4 - 17 - 11 - 4 - 10 - 4 - 13 - 17 - 10 - 21 - 20 - 8 - 13 - 18 - 16 - 14 - 8 - 21
PARTY IS UP
Occassional Dungeon Master.
Goyo - [Tortle]Druid/Warlock - Circle of Sea/Celestial (Libretalia)
Vogan - [Goliath-Hill]Bard - ???(A Dungeon-Delving Campaign Group C)
Jack Vicvan - [Eladrin]Warlock - Archfey
Burgee calls upon the raging powers of a Nor'easter and raises his staff and a frigid streak of light streaks toward one of the creatures dropping it out of the sky. Burgee gets ready for the rest of the swarm that he knows will soon be upon them all. (Attack: 21 Damage: 4)

Crossbow Attack: 14 Damage: 5
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
Rose draws her hammer but instead of trying to swing at the besties clearly out of her reach she bides her time. Only when the stirdges were right up on them would a flash of light burst from where she was standing burning the weakest stirges. (Action hold to cast Word of Radiance on as many of them as poss. DC 13 con save or take 6 radiant damage)
Four others seek after Burgee... (Attack: 21 Damage: 4 -Attack: 22 Damage: 4 - Attack: 22 Damage: 7 -Attack: 13 Damage: 6)
(Attack: 17 Damage: 4 - Attack: 23 Damage: 6 - Attack: 15 Damage: 5 - Attack: 22 Damage: 6)
Not a single one of them manage to pierce his armor though, all bouncing off of it like flies on a windshield. Only with sickeningly meaty thuds.
Party is up, next round the other 30 stirges will be incoming.
Occassional Dungeon Master.
I applied the 10 damage from attack 1 & 4.

Rose silently chuckles to herself as the stirges are burned away. However once realize more are on the way she sighs thinking that this will take too long. Focusing on her amulet to channel her magic Rose picks a point that will affect the most stirges, even risking catching some of her allies in the spell, and sings a magical Lullaby 21
