Cirrus does not Catch the dishonesty, happy to finally meet a goblin with some manners. "We'd be honored! Take the lead! we have some indication of their direction, but for a good while it's straight along this path, we'll let you know when the trail diverges."
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
Bastille eyes Cirrus and Vimak, noticing that Vimak may also suspect something. Regardless, she remains at ease. If it was an ambush, she would be ready. Mentally, she prepares to annihilate the hobgoblins should they choose to betray the party.
The hobb and orcs seem to visibly relax, and, at the Hobbs command Put away weapons, fellows. the orcs do as they're told, each of them shrugging it off as they turned around. You say is straight this way? If they come this way, should be easy to find. Not much to see but road and mountain. Yes, yes, Road and mountain, is far stretching through our territory. Make easier to find! The ranger looks between everyone in the group, shrugging it off but saying Then it looks like my services are no longer needed. And i won't be persuaded otherwise. I won't even ask for payment. Seems these folk know their way around and that's exactly what you all were looking for, right? So I can finally get back to my own duties. Maybe I'll see you again in Phandalin, if luck has its way.
The ranger seeming to blend into the forest as he disappears before anyone can give an argument otherwise. You all can feel eyes on you, but when you look around, you notice the Hobb and the Orcs have turned back around and are looking at you, so that's probably who it was. The small band make no hostile actions and seem calm now. Well, this is as far as patrol go. You come from other way, and not see anything, so no need to patrol further. We take you back up north, to report in to Hobgoblin master. Treat you to to food and rest. Will come with us?
Will continue 'travel' or initiate combat based on party decisions.
"That sounds more than agreeable." Cirrus follows behind the group.

"Believe me," Vimak says, "these folks are not trustworthy. They make promises they do not keep. I know hobgoblins are honorable. Any information you could give us would be most secret. It would free you from deceivers and rid the world of liars," he says, trying to be persuasive: 20.
Vimak watches the hobgoblin and orcs closely, considering the best moves against them, but wanting information more than their death.

The hob stops in it's tracks, as if nearly tripping over something. You know not of what you speak .. human? he said the last word un-assuredly. it seems as if he has never before seen a goliath. We value martial strength. Not honor. And our king has it in spades. But you have convinced to be fair with you. We were going to... the orcs look at the hobb with shock. ...Take you to our stronghold, and lead you into trap. Make sure you cannot get away as we surround your weak selves. But you have changed my mind. Our leader has seem weak, and has parlay with other weak people.
So I make proposal..... We still take you to Cragmaw..... but we not help them. We not lead you into ambush, but we also not help you. I curious to see who is more powerful. You, or king. Do have deal?
The hobb walked straight up to Vimak with military stiffness, before thrusting out his hand with a smirk. The smirk was clearly that he was looking forward to watching the battle to come, as opposed to attempting to deceive. The other two orcs, seemed to be gettign excited by the idea themselves.
Cirrus has said he's okay with following them and Vimak guesses that Bastille is as well. "Sure," he says to the hobgoblin. "Deal. Lead on." He'll shake the hobgoblin's hand, then gestures for the three of them to go first.
Once they are a bit ahead of the party, Vimak whispers to Cirrus and Bastille, "What do you think?"
Cirrus want to get more information out of the hob, "So what exactly are you suggesting? You take us to Cragmaw, and you want us to prove our strength.. how? by fighting these weak folk you speak of? or your King?" Cirrus is not trying to sound eager to kill the gob king, more incredulous at the idea.

He turns to face Cirrus, saying flatly I ay, instead of lead you to ambush and sound alarm. You get to go in. You get prove to me if our king or you is better. Prove which is better path. Continue on as we do. Or change way. What else you do there is you problem.
Bastille responds to Vimak, "We are rested and wiser than we were before. I believe these "Weak ones" the hobgoblin talked about might be the bandits we are looking for. If that is the case, we were going to have to fight them regardless. I believe we can destroy them with moderate effort." She eyes Vimak's weapon and says, "If the battlefield has ample space, would you consider switching to a lance and hopping on my back after I turn into something that can carry you or would you prefer to have your default weapon."
"Thank you, Bastille, for offering," Vimak says. "Can you turn into something that can carry me and attack foes at the same time? Your ability to attack might be better than my having a lance." Vimak is thoughtful. "I should have tried to stop the ranger from leaving. We will need as many blades on our side as possible. How many of them will there be?" He continues to watch the Hobgoblin. "On the other hand, dividing them somehow might help us. Is this hobgoblin plotting to put himself on the throne once we defeat his king?"
@DM: If Bastille turns into a Dire Wolf and Vimak mounts her, can she still attack normally?
Bastille follows Vimak's gaze and watches the Hobgoblin too. She says, "Whether or not he wishes to take the throne is not my concern. I have no fondness for him nor do I have any grievances. As long as we get our target and he doesn't get in our way, I do not care what he does."
Cirrus whispers to the group "His common is so broken I can't tell for sure exactly what he wants us to do once he lets us in the castle. It sounds like he wants to see if we are better than his king, and he said that his people value strength above honor, which leads me to believe he wants us to try and kill his king to prove we are better. If that's the case, then I'm noticing a recurring trend among goblins: when one is in charge, at least one underling wants them dead. Did either of you get e better grasp of what his intentions are past getting us into the castle?"

(Depends, how often does she have men ride her? Sorry, i had to, lol. But yes. Just put a 10 feet to movement, since not only are you carrying weight .. he's pretty damn large)
"It sounds like we are willing to let them lead us to Cragmaw," Vimak says to the others.
OOC: Once they arrive there, assuming no objections from Cirrus and Bastille, the hobgoblin doesn't attack them first, and there are no more random encounters, Vimak pauses long enough that he and the others can assess the place and the numbers of goblins and hobgoblins there. He hopes they will be able to change plans if necessary.
"There's really no safe way to enter a goblin keep," Cirrus whispers, following with his party and behind the gobs, "but as far as methods go, I think this is the closest thing to safe we're going to get."

"Hmm, yes," Vimak says. "You are probably correct." While he is watching the hobgoblins in front of him, he occasionally watches for moment in the woods behind and to each side of them. Like his old mother said, he thinks, the paranoid survive.

So... I think I tied the Hobgoblin's deception. Does Bastille know something is up?
(a match or higher i count as noticing/knowing to whatever degree is possible based on the check. you're not AS sure as vimak, but you caught onto it)
