Meat pie in hand, Niche detached herself from the group at the fire heating their food and chose a ledge on the side of the wagon to sit on with a good view of the road. For a moment Niche had wanted to catch the little lizard she saw but decided against it, instead she reached her hand into the inner pocket of her shirt and felt the weight of the emerald ring she left there, the green stone smooth and cold to touch. She drew it out discretely into her empty hand and focus her attention on the structure on the ring, and the little green shadow that danced inside the emerald. (meditating on that ring she stole)
As she was about to get up from her spot on the side of the wagon for a second meat pie, Niche heard the familiar sound of wheels on the path and another wagon came into view. She hopped up, walking over to the other side to get the attention of whoever is still left around the wagon (Natalia and Varax I believe) “Hey, there’s another group coming. I wonder if they are going to Phandalin too.”
Poking her head back out from behind the wagon, and making sure none of the passengers seemed familiar, Niche gave a friendly wave at the approaching party, focusing mainly on the children.
Branagh's axe flies through the air, spinning end over end and embeds deep into the turkeys chest, it begins to run away on pure instinct and falls over after 3 steps. On your way back to the party you take a slightly different route and see some berries. If the two of you take some a nature roll is needed. (at advantage if you both are checking the bush)

(Sorry for any confusion, you are currently headed south and they are traveling north from the area that you could possibly be coming from) (I am changing your words to "coming from Phandalin")
The children are smiling and playing with each other, one is a boy of about 8 and the other is a girl about the same age. She is an elf and he is a human. The adult is a human woman in her early thirties. She has on a pack with supplies and she waves as she approaches you. She stops and asks Niche Bout how far yet till we reach ze farms outsidda ze city? We been travlin for a few dayz now an we ain't never been her before. Ittle be nice to fine-ally relax after this trip. The boy moves over to the oxen as she starts talking to you. She does not notice him because he is behind her and to the side.
Niche’s gaze follows the boy for a bit but made no attempt to stop him, “Careful of the horns.”She warned with a chuckle before focusing back to the woman. ”Oh it’s only about a half day’s travel to the city, maybe less if you want the farms outside of it, just follow the road.”she offered, wiping the pie crust off her hands on her shirt hastily as she approached the other wagon. While she talks, she also tries to get a peak inside their wagon. (to figure out if they are just a family on a trip or maybe a merchant or something) “Where did you guys come from if I may ask? Has the trip been a good one? Heard there might be goblins around on the way to Phandalin.”
After seeing the axe strike true, Kal releases the tension on his bow string and sheathes the arrow.
Nice throw. Now that ya kilt it, do ya know how to dress it?

You recognize these berries as a sour berry that you have cooked with before, you know that if you eat too much of them that they will act as a...very strong stool softener...but you know how much to add for the nice flavor without the side effects. (Also useful for pranks if you are a prankster)

Dont you be touching nuttin zat ain't ours! She says turning to the children. I 'pollogize for zat, zey are still young. You notice it is just the 2 children and the woman carrying a pack of supplies, they have no cart or any animals with them. You see some cloths sticking out through the top of the bag, but can make out nothing more. We be comin for ze town of Leilon. I ain't seen no gobzins, but then again we been stayin on ze main road. Phandalin is on ze little trail. We saw two men ride by on some horsez but zey didn't stop to talk. Ze trips been good so far but it rained yesterday so ze road ahead for ye may be a bit muddy if ye got 'lotta weight in dere.
(Oh gosh totally just assumed they drove a wagon too, so yea Niche will look at their belongings rather than their non existent wagon lolol)
“Ay that’s not a problem,”Niche’s attitude is visibly softer than usual towards the kids, although she’s not much taller than them herself. “Technically not ours either, just doing a job.”she gestured towards the oxen and shrugged, “They seem friendly enough, haven’t given us any trouble. Ya boy should be fine.”
Niche nodded with satisfaction when she heard that they haven’t seen any goblins, surely that’s just something Gundren said to make them more alert. She also noted down that the two horsemen the other party passed before must be their dwarven employer and his guard, “Ahh right, good to know none the less. Hopefully we won’t get stuck anywhere in the mud.”
With that being said, the three of them pass and the children resume playing tag with one another. You hear the woman tell the children as they walk away, Looks like bout halfa day more, zen well be dere. As the human child goes to tag the elf child, the elf disappears and reappears about 10 feet away. You can hear the boy saying something about cheating as they move out of earshot.
Shortly after the travelers pass through, Kal and Branagh return from their hunting expedition with the prizes in hand. 1 turkey, and some berries to season it with.
Thank you for taking me on that little hunt Kal, I enjoyed it immensely, we should try spear fishing sometime I think you would enjoy the challenge. He looks to the others Did we miss anything while we were gone?
There is possible mud ahead on our journey due to the rain Natalia replies to the question, offering no more information as she helps prepare and cook the food. This is quiet a lot of meat Bran, we should have enough for later as well.
(as you have a discussion over lunch, also notate who will do what role on the rest of todays journey. (I will be off for the next 12 hours, I will make a post then.)
“Just had some travellers pass by actually, they said they saw Gundren and Sildar on the way too.” Niche added to Natalia’s information, “Had a good hunt I see?”She said as she goes back into the wagon for the map, checking where Leilon is in relation to Phandalin.
(Added a link that will have all of the pieces to the maps we will use on the actual mines portion of this adventure. This is in the DM public notes of the campaign.)
Well you know me Natalia, I always provide fresh meat. He winks at her as he says so, warning groans and eye rolls from everyone.
He chuckles himself. Tough crowd he thinks. It’s good to hear that Sildar and Gundren are making good time. Niche how far along on that map do you think we are? We on schedule or do we need to pick up the pace? I’m happy to keep manning the helm, so to speak, of the oxen but if anyone’s footsore and wants to switch I’m happy to do so.
“Can’t say exactly but around here I’d say.” Niche held up the map for Bran to see and gestured roughly along the High Road, “I’d say what we’ve been travelling at is good, no harm in speeding up a little more if the ovens can take it either.”She said as she tucked the map back into the pouch, “Just gotta remember to turn once we reach the trail to Phandalin or else we’ll end up in Leilon. But I don’t think it’ll come up for another while yet.”
“Well I’m happy with my spot in the wagon, the flour sacs are pretty comfy actually. And the space is probably too cramped for you big guys anyways.”

Kal takes the appropriate amount of berries for the turkey. He's too practical of a man to deal in pranks.

Natalia smiles slightly at Branah's comment but says nothing about it. I will take up a flanking position again.
