We haven't seen any indications of anything hostile, so there's no reason not to have a fire. Got to actually cook/smoke the turkey. If Natalia hasn't already cleaned it, Kal will. Once the fire is going, he will dig a small pit to smoke the turkey for several hours.
Everybody will need to stand a watch since we don't have any elves with their 4 hour sleep cycle.
Surprised by Natalia’s bold move, Niche stares wide eyed as she casually stuffs the snake into a sac and ties it to the hook at the back of the wagon. As Natalia passes by her again, she mumbles a question in thieve’s cant disguised as a complaint to satisfy her curiosity.
Are you out of your mind? Getting at a snake with venom like that. I‘m getting dangerous vibes from it already, you better get rid of it later alright?
Casting cautious glances every so often at the snake containing sac for the rest of the journey, Niche watched as the sun began to dip lower and lower until the sky turned a pretty red and orange hue. She calls out to those at the front of the wagon, ”Looks like time to make camp unless you guys want to travel in the dark! And I don’t want to travel over muddy paths when I can’t see well. We’ll have enough light to make fire and get some more food if we stop around here I’d say.”
(has it been enough time for Niche to finish meditating on her ring btw?)
Natalia smiles and nods slightly and answers your question, We will be having it for breakfast in the morning unless anyone objects to some warm food.
(Yes, if you had been meditating on it practically the whole time after lunch)
“I can’t see too well in the dark either but the fire will help. Don’t mind when I take the watch, I’m a pretty light sleeper anyways.” Niche hopped down from the wagon and did a few stretches, then proceeding to head a bit deeper into the forest, “Just having a quick look around, my legs are sore from sitting around all day. Don’t start dinner without me!”
Natalia sets up her tent and sets out her bedroll. She sees Kal cleaning the turkey and takes over so he can dig a pit, she cuts the turkey in two sections, one to smoke over night and one to roast for now.
Niche, what direction are you going, and are you remaining close to the party? If so, eyesight range? Earshot? Or perhaps a 'pit stop'?
(Going into the forest, not entirely which direction that will be though and remaining in ear shot but mostly out of sight. Would like to just survey the surrounding forest in case there’s anything that seems a bit off.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

Niche, there is nothing out of the ordinary here, just the forest with quiet a few trees and some signs of some small wildlife, you can hear some squirrels chittering and some crickets. There is a dead tree that has fallen over about 40 feet away and some bushes and shrubs around you, scattered haphasardly.
Going slightly deeper and sitting herself down behind the dead tree, Niche takes out the emerald ring she had been fiddling with all afternoon and puts it on, making sure the party can no longer see her. She just couldn’t shake off the feeling that it might be more than just a pretty ring and whatever it is she wanted to check it out by herself first.
Unsure of what exactly to do, she tapped on the emerald, focusing her thought on the shadow inside.
Once what’s done is done, Niche will put away the ring, collect an armful of the dry branches from the dead tree and surrounding area to bring back to where they made camp.
Niche's ring glows slightly green, then the shadow moves to the fore front and you seem to hear a name in your mind 'Reyn'. You feel a bit of confusion and excitement.
This all technically would have all happened before he began cleaning the bird. Since we're near the sea, he would have found some wetter wood for the smoking. Then he would have dug a hole a little bigger than the size of the turkey and started a fire in it. While the fire was burning down, he would have found some greener branches to build a grate to hold the turkey. Once the fire burned down, place wetter wood on the low fire to generate the smoke and place the bird on the grate over the fire pit to let it smoke.
We gotta keep an eye on it o'ernight. Keep addin' a bitta wet wood to it when th smoke dies down. In da morn we'll have smoked meat. Should keep for a week or so wit an overnight smokin.
To Natalia
Might wanna do bof halves an' save it all fer later since we seemta have perishables for tonight?

(Yep this would be happening pretty much right after the fire is prepared and take maybe 10 to 15 mins I’d say?)
“Reyn...” Almost subconsciously, Niche whispers the name she hears out loud, butterflies in her stomach as she’s trying to comprehend this echo in her mind.
As soon as she finish voicing out this foreign but somehow suddenly familiar name, the emerald on the ring flares up into a flash of green flame that felt cool rather than hot. Taken by surprise, Niche lets out a yelp and thrusts her hand out away from her body in panic as the once tiny green shadow flickers and disappears from the emerald before emerging on the ground next to her, solidifying into a draconic shape that is about the size of her head.
“Oh Tymora help me.” Frozen in both fear and sheer surprise, Niche manages to utter a sentence as she watched in awe. Now in its physical form, the summoned creature looks clearly to be a dragon, however instead of scaly hide or flesh, it’s structure is purely skeletal: the bones a pale, beautiful jade colour with a hint of translucency, two backward curving horns sits on top of its head and some tattered olive green hide remains as the webbing between the wings. The green fire that flared up doesn’t dissipate but instead surrounds the dragon’s form, more or less filling up where it’s flesh would have been.
The dragon turns its head towards Niche, it’s eyes which look like two shining emeralds set into the boney socket twinkle a little amongst the flickering flame. Niche suddenly gets a sense that the dragon is happy to finally be able to take a physical form again, and it’s intent is more friendly and curious rather than malicious.
Natalia sets both halves of the bird on the makeshift grate and checks that the weight will be supported and it wont fall into the fire after a few hours, she sets the gate to the side and lets Kal season them as she prepares the night's meal of the leftover meat pies. (Yay leftovers again said nobody ever) We will need more wood for in the morning, I think that I can make some biscuits to go with the snake.
Meanwhile in the woods by the dead tree, Niche make a stealth roll to see if anyone hears. (The others are busy making camp and hearing the crackle of the fire (especially with the we wood sizzling. DC15))
As you whisper the word, the blackness in your ring swirls and fades until it disappears. You hear a chittering sound from beside you and feel a sense of eagerness and excitement that is not your own, as you turn to the chittering noise, you see a small green skeletal dragon. Its bones are a slightly translucent as you can see through it, almost like it was made of a green glass. Its eyes are black voids and no white can be seen. It stands only about a foot and a half off the ground and is about two and a half feet in length with its tail. You have not seen its wings unfolded, but it appears like they would be long enough to fly. It has a thin webbing of some sort, skin possibly you think that attaches its wing bones to one another. It is tattered and torn in some places with holes in others. You freeze in shock at the sight of it and it races up your leg, you can feel its claws and they surprisingly enough are not sharp. It climbs up your body with surprising speed and perches on your shoulder, then jumps on your head and lets out a small roar. (This is what the DC check is for)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(One request, can the dragon have the emerald eyes I described before? Personally just want something vaguely eye like to better convey emotion, if not that’s all g)
”Oh, oo dear.” Niche instinctively flinches as the dragon dashes up to her and starts climbing up her leg, expecting sharp pain but surprisingly feeling only slight pressure as the dragon scampers scampers up to perch on her head, letting out an excited roar. Not able to foresee this turn of events, Niche gets pretty flustered as the roar echos out to the immediate vicinity. Her fear of the creature replaced by the fear of being spotted, she hastily crouches even lower and puts both her hand up to try and cover the dragon’s mouth, and attempt to bring it down from her head if possible, “Oh goddess, no no no shushhh! You gotta be quiet!”
The wildlife seems not to have noticed the roar, and nobody in the party heard the roar either (unless someone wants to roll a nat 20 for perception as off hand I do not think anyone can beat that stealth roll.)
As you bring the dragon off of your head, with one hand still over its mouth, you come eye to eye with the dragon. At Niche's insistence to be quiet, Reyn stops it's roar and becomes silent, you feel its emotions shift from eagerness to questioning and anxious (still with the excited)
“Um good uh just stay quiet please...uh I guess it’s Reyn right? Oh gee this is not what I expected.” Glad that there’s no significant reaction in the area from the dragon’s roar, Niche takes her hand off the dragon, allowing it to perch along the length of her arm instead. Her words comes out a little jumbled and shaky but with a hint of exhilaration as the situation finally settles in. A dragon summoning ring?? She wouldn’t have believed it if it wasn’t happening to her right now. “Ah, hi? Nice to meet you? I’m Niche by the way. I guess I’m the new owner of this ring now, if you don’t mind...” Unsure if what to do, the halfling goes off into a mindless ramble once she senses the faint anxiety coming from the dragon, “Sorry for startling you like this but uh, really it’s you that surprised me though, well, not that it really matters now... aah this is so cool...”
Once she takes a few more minutes to come to terms with her new found companion, Niche starts worrying again, “I don’t think I can bring you back to the group like this... Do you think you could go back into the ring for now? Does it work like that?” Afraid of upsetting the dragon as she’s still not fully confident that it won’t suddenly turn aggressive and attack her, Niche quickly added a reassurance, “But I will get you out when I can, when I figure this all out I guess.”
(Also sorry everyone for so much “secret” stuff going on, just want to get the ring figured out in character so she can use it in combat or other occasions sooner rather than later)
Once Reyn feels like you want her to go back into the ring, you hear a small chirping growl and feel a sad emotion wash over you, and she disappears in a swirl of black smoke. The ring feels warm and the gem turns solid black, and gradually the blackness recedes into the ring center leaving it swirling inside.
Kal keeps an eye on the smoker's fire, adding more wood as necessary. He also takes this opportunity to pull out a book and begins writing in it for a bit.

“Sorry!” Niche whispered another apology as a sense of dragon’s sadness wash over her, but it does obediently go back into her ring to her relief.
Niche emerges from the forest with an armful of branches for the fire, looking as if she’s been busy collecting firewood for the group. “Nothing seems off with the forest as far as I could see,” she declared once returning to the group, “And I got some more branches to keep the fire going tonight. Oh, I see we’ve got the turkey going already.”
To those who looks at her closely, she seems a little shaken and her face paler than normal but otherwise not showing any signs of what happened in the forest.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Still need a night shift order, and rolls for perception.
With 5 members requiring 8 hours 'rest' and 6 of it sleep, I will say that all 5 members will need to take a watch. Looking at our current roster, nobody gets a 'meditate' or 'Sentry Mode' to offset this.
