Gilly takes another look at the far bank and spots what might be a single clawed foot on the far bank. He turns to Tiro and says above the noise of the swamp - e.g. croaking of frogs, the bellow and roaring of crocodiles at some distance, cries of birds etc "reflecting on it I'm not sure they were trying to hide their tracks, that footprint over there is quite deep which suggests they were just walking normally. The problem is they're native and we're not!"
{OOC - the lizardmen are probably moving at normal pace (30') whereas Tiro and Gilly will be moving at 1/4 pace (7.5') because they are trying to be stealthy (halved) and it is difficult terrain (halved again)}
Will take about 5 minutes if traipsing up and down the bank poking at the river bed but eventually you find the edge of the quick sand. Unfortunately You’ll have to swim across the river rather than wade. River is about 50’ wide.
(OOC - will put up a time post later today)

Tiro and Gilly push through reeds and marsh, stepping in and out of puddles, for a further five minutes following the direction they think the tracks led.

Remember Tiro swims as fast as he can walk... Actually, so does Gilly (swim as fast as he walks).
In open water yes but this is a marsh with submerged logs, reed beds and you're also trying to be stealthy. Thus halved for difficult terrain and halved again for stealth.
About now Gilly looks around and comments to Tiro "this is all looking the same to me?" Tiro replies "i agree"
So now what?

"I think Downstream would be the way to head," says Tyro to Gilly, "that would bring us to the rivermouth, and we should be able to find our boat from there."

This is the way I see it. Gilly and Tiro waited about 10 minutes after the Lizardmen left before:

"I think so says Tiro, I'm not convinced we will learn anything here at this stage." So saying, Tiro looks to backtrack form whence they came.
