The party manage to wrestle the longboat over the side of the ship and tie it to the side. Gilly clambers down and grabs the oars, while the two lizardmen nimbly scramble down the side and position themselves in the bow. Tiro then climbs into the boat and takes up a position in the stern.
Gilly takes up the oars and smoothly rows the boat to the shore. At the older lIzardman's directions, he rows towards a large area of marsh. As they get closer Gilly and Tiro can see that this is the also the mouth of a small river. Gilly runs the boat up onto a sandbank and the two lizardmen leap out. As they splash off into the marsh, the older one looks back and says "bring weapons and metal tomorrow!"

Tiro watches the Lizardmen carefully until they are fully out of sight, ensuring that he commits to memory the direction they went. Then he says to Gilly, "Do you think they are intentionally rude, or is this just their manner?" he then continues "Do we assume that Thrash can find his way here? He did say something about not being in their clan - perhaps we need to make some mark to ensure that we find our way back here."

If they are speaking close enough for Thrash to hear, he would turn and look to Tiro. "I with clan one year. I know way." The lizardfolk would say with a nod. "Other lizardfolk jealous of Thrash. No doubt tell lies to win favor with queen." He would say with a hiss. "I raised in dwarf clan. Thrash learn to blacksmith and more cultures.... learn how not to be dick."
"I think we'll be OK," Gilly says, looking in the direction the lizardmen went. He looks back at Tiro with a mischievous grin. "Think we should follow them? Make sure everything's on the up and up?"
Tiro replies "Perhaps we should Gilly, to be sure we know where to go tomorrow." Then Tiro arises and disembarks from the boat. "We had better tie the boat up in case the tide comes in." After Tiro and Gilly have tied up the boat, and disguised it a little so it is not obvious to a casual observer, they set off cautiously in the direction taken by the lizardmen.
Better make some stealth rolls then. How far are you planning to follow the Lizardmen.
Thrash and Devin who've been watching from the boat see Gilly and Tiro drop the Lizardmen off and then after what appears to be a brief discussion pull the boat up on the shore and dismount before heading off into the swamp/marsh.
Gilly and Tiro pull the boat up onto the small sandbank. “Now which way did they go?’ Gilly asks. “I’m pretty sure they went that way”Tiro responds pointing out a small path leading off the island. They set off to follow the Lizardmen into the swamp. After about 50 feet, it is a very small island, they come to a stream. For the life of them neither Tiro or Gilly can spot any tracks leaving the other side of the stream.
So now what?

If not, Gilly will look up and down the stream. "They must be using the stream to hide their tracks. It's almost as if they knew we were going to follow them." He listens for any sounds which would indicate which way to go.

Tiro and Gilly are having this discussion whilst in the row boat so Thrash is truly out of earshot.

DM, are we proficient enough to find our way back, or should we do something to mark the spot?
You would be sufficiently proficient to find your way back to where you dropped the Lizardmen off.

Better make some nature rolls as well to see if you can follow the tracks. Once I get that I can start to develop a post.
