Thomas rides after the two pall bearers , getting within easy bow shot of them. Ignoring the dust that seemingly disappears into his armor (under the Disguise spell), Thomas rides after the two pall bearers , getting within easy bow shot of them. The dust layer on his mystical horse is more obvious, but it seems undisturbed by the marterial. You''l need a DC10 animal handling or DC10 DEX check because your horse is incapacitated by the substance and falls to the ground. You may still be mobile this round but the horse isn't. Failed roll means you take 1d6 from the fall.
It's a solidified illusion. Does it still get affected by poisons, etc.?

Good question. "quasi-real, horselike creature appears" sort of implies that while it is an illusion it follows all the rules for a 'real' creature. The way DnD works is by exception. Unless you specifically except a rule it is always followed. In this case "The creature uses the statistics for a riding horse, except it has a speed of 100 feet ..." so the only exception to normal rules is movement.
OOC - Okay. This dust needs to be washed off bare skin? The tactical armor is a barrier to it's effects?
DEX Save 19
Rolling off the falling horse with oddly agile movements, the black-armoured knight lands and fires at the foe. After the shot, Thomas feels around for a canteen, feeling the tingling effect from the dust on the few bare patches of his skin. (Use the same rolls for results)

If you keep your armour on you'll need two waterskins and two man-rounds of work to clear the substance ie you'll need someone else's waterskin and if they help you'll be clean in 1 round
Seeing what happened to Thomas' steed, Em rides up to the sailor and pulls out his waterskin. He will help Thomas clean up and then switch places with him on the horse.
Round 4 will be the cleaning round for Thomas, I gather.

Concentrating a little, Sarah summons her minor magic to clean away the nasty mess coating her. A... poison? Well, that was for later study. For now she was just glad to be free of it.
