"O..O...Okay." Enialis agrees. Taking the jug of wine from him and drinking a huge gulp of it.

Hadrian isn’t quite sure how to take in all this frivolity. He stands at an inconspicuous distance, smiling little under his beard at Fae and Enialis’ antics. 

Meanwhile, he is attempting to take in the scenery, and to discern the nature of what Ismark called the Vistani. 

Wisdom (Insight) if applicable, just trying to see if he can tell anything interesting about them from just listening and watching: 8

Elyse finds a place off to the side to sit alone and wait out the frivolity. Any Vistani that may approach would be met with a death stare.

Hadrian, you're unable to gain any useful information, but they don't seem to be as fearful or as oppressed as the other Barovians are.

Eventually, one of the sober Vistani raises his hand and the dancing and drinking comes to a momentary halt. He gathers the five of you around a campfire and begins to recount a story. 

"A mighty wizard came to this land over a year ago. I remember him like it was yesterday. He stood exactly where you’re standing. A very charismatic man, he was. He thought he could rally the people of Barovia against the devil Strahd. He stirred them with thoughts of revolt and bore them to the castle en masse. “When the vampire appeared, the wizard’s peasant army fled in terror. A few stood their ground and were never seen again."

“The wizard and the vampire cast spells at each other. Their battle flew from the courtyards of Ravenloft to a precipice overlooking the falls. I saw the battle with my own eyes. Thunder shook the mountainside, and great rocks tumbled down upon the wizard, yet by his magic he survived. Lightning from the heavens struck the wizard, and again he stood his ground. But when the devil Strahd fell upon him, the wizard’s magic couldn’t save him. I saw him thrown a thousand feet to his death. I climbed down to the river to search for the wizard’s body, to see if, you know, he had anything of value, but the River Ivlis had already spirited him away. I cannot remember the wizard's name, but it sounded like he was important. The five of you should get to seeing Madam Eva now. She does not like to be kept waiting for too long.”

Enialis, who has been drinking some more and is perhaps a little tipsy, listens to the story before turning to Olyvar and saying, "That's....that's...that's my call. I'll...I'll...I'll be back for you though." Before he heads towards where Madam Eva is. 

Fae bounces cheerfully after her brother, keyed up after all the dancing and the story.

Magic flames cast a reddish glow over the interior of this tent, revealing a low table covered in a black velvet cloth. Glints of light seem to flash from a crystal ball on the table as a hunched figure peers into its depths. As the crone speaks, her voice crackles like dry weeds. “At last you have arrived!” Cackling laughter bursts like mad lightning from her withered lips.

"Enialis, who took what was not yours. Faerynna, who watches over the Phoenix's egg. Phanuel, who fights to prove that he is a worthy descendant. Elyse, who hides her true face after rejection. Hadrian, who lives in exile after being falsely accused. Come, and learn your fates! You seek to defeat a great evil that plagues these lands, but to do so, you will need to find three great treasures; The Tome of Strahd, The Holy Symbol of Ravenkind, and The Sunsword. You must also find an ally who will help you defeat the devil Strahd. Then, you will travel to Castle Ravenloft, where he is waiting for the final battle.

The Tome of Strahd

This card tells of history. Knowledge of the ancient will help you better understand your enemy. "The thing you seek lies with the dead, under mountains of gold coins."

The Holy Symbol

This card tells of a powerful force for good and protection, a holy symbol of great hope.  "The treasure is hidden in a small castle beneath a mountain, guarded by amber giants"

The Sunsword

This is a card of power and strength. It tells of a weapon of vengeance: a sword of sunlight. "I see the skeleton of a deadly warrior, lying on a bed of stone flanked by gargoyles"

Strahd's Enemy

This card sheds light on one who will help you greatly in the battle against darkness. "Seek out the brother of the devil’s bride. They call him “the lesser,” but he has a powerful soul."

Strahd

Your enemy is a creature of darkness, whose powers are beyond mortality. This card will lead you to him! "Look to the mother’s tomb."

You all hit Level 4, for meeting Madam Eva and hearing your fates.

Fae pokes her brother. "Do we seek to defeat a great evil?" she asks him in her "whisper". "And how'd she know about my egg? And what does she mean you took what wasn't yours? And why are there so many mountains?"

Enialis, ignoring the questions for now, asks Madam Eva “How do you know all this?”

"Mother Night has given me the gift of foresight, child. You can believe it or not, but I do not speak falsely."

Enialis looks at the others and then asks, “Are you here to destroy a great evil? I was just following along with Fae until she tires of this place and we move on to another.” 

"Well you and your sister will not be doing any moving on as long as Strahd lives, child. The devil holds dominion over this land, and no one leaves without his permission. Even the dead cannot leave these lands, their souls remaining trapped under Strahd's tyranny."

Hadrian's face pales a little. He musters himself, and speaks from the off to the side, "Then our path is clear." He seems to be readily accepting of this form of fortune-telling.

"Madam, who is this ally of whom you speak?"

When asked if he is here to face a great evil, Phanuel nods with more confidence than he's had in a while.  "I have a lot to learn, but yes, I think that's why I'm here."

Phanuel reaches out tentatively and touches the Sunsword card... "This... this one calls to me.  Where is this?"

Ismark pipes up in response to Hadrian's question. "I was often called Ismark the Lesser, by the people of the village who never believed that I would escape my father's shadow. But perhaps I might, since it seems that destiny has chosen me to help you in the fight against the devil Strahd." 

"If I had to guess child, I would say that the sword lies within one of the crypts at Castle Ravenloft, as does the tome. The Holy Symbol lies somewhere within the Amber Temple, although I don't know where." 

In response to Ismark, Elyse asks "She also called this ally 'the brother of the devil's bride,' is there something you and your sister are hiding from us?"

"Mountains of gold? The dead have knowledge. Where can we find these things?" Hadrian continues to mull over the cards and their apocryphal meanings.

"No. My sister isn't married to anyone, least of all the devil Strahd."

"I already told you. These things are likely in one of the crypts under Castle Ravenloft. But the castle is dangerous, I would not advise you to go rushing there, unless you wish to have a crypt of your own."

"And we still need to take Ireena to Vallaki and find someone that she can stay with, especially if I am to be joining in the fight against Strahd."

"Vallaki is far from here and the night is almost upon us. You should stay here, lest Strahd's minions attack you while you're on the road."

"Would Strahd's minions not attack you here?" Hadrian asks Madam Eva.

"No. They will not."
