"Power?" Belzo mutters, perking up for the first time in a while. Unless Hadrian decided to secret the Tome of Understanding or leave it be, he steps in the room intent at least on observing the attempt to open up the model castle more closely. And if any volunteers tire in the effort, the sorcerer to physically insert himself into the effort with far more enthusiasm than usual.

Through the hard work of Kasimir, Elyse, and Ismark, the model castle opens, revealing not a miniaturized version of the interior of Castle Ravenloft, but an empty space, save for a pedestal containing a sun-shaped platinum amulet with a large crystal in the center.
You have found the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind.
Wondrous item, legendary (requires attunement by a cleric or paladin of good alignment)
The Holy Symbol of Ravenkind is a unique holy symbol sacred to the good-hearted faithful of Barovia. It predates the establishment of any church in Barovia. According to legend, it was delivered to a paladin named Lugdana by a giant raven — or an angel in the form of a giant raven. Lugdana used the holy symbol to root out and destroy nests of vampires until her death. The high priests of Ravenloft kept and wore the holy symbol after Lugdana’s passing.
The holy symbol is a platinum amulet shaped like the sun, with a large crystal embedded in its center.
The holy symbol has 10 charges for the following properties. It regains 1d6 + 4 charges daily at dawn.
Hold Vampires. As an action, you can expend 1 charge and present the holy symbol to make it flare with holy power. Vampires and vampire spawn within 30 feet of the holy symbol when it flares must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, a target is paralyzed for 1 minute. It can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns to end the effect on itself.
Turn Undead. If you have the Turn Undead or the Turn the Unholy feature, you can expend 3 charges when you present the holy symbol while using that feature. When you do so, undead have disadvantage on their saving throws against the effect.
Sunlight. As an action, you can expend 5 charges while presenting the holy symbol to make it shed bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet. The light is sunlight and lasts for 10 minutes or until you end the effect (no action required).
After finding the Holy Symbol and gaining one of the treasures that you will need to defeat Strahd, you all hit Level 7!

Hadrian looks dubiously at the amulet. “It cannot be that simple, can it?” He asks. If allowed to handle it, he will turn it over in his hands to examine it. (Do we automatically know the lore regarding this holy symbol?)
Doremor raises an eyebrow at talk of leaving, "It doesn't take a fortune teller to know that there's more treasure in this place, just look at it! If there's stuff like this, perhaps there's more that would be useful to have. Taking a rest sounds like a good idea, but leaving this place untapped is just silly."
OOC: You don't know anything about it other than what Madam Eva has already told you. But Hadrian could at least figure out what it does over the course of a short rest.

Hadrian purses his lips behind his black beard. “I will not abandon you. You have my shield if you wish to continue exploring, but we have what we came for.”
(OOC: I'll let the five of you decide who gets the amulet and the Tome of Understanding. But in the interest of keeping things going, we will be exiting the Amber Temple. Also, since Elyse's player has not posted in the thread for several weeks, we will be replacing Elyse with a new player and hopefully our final one.)
You all decide to bid farewell to the Amber Temple, having found the treasure that Madam Eva saw in her vision. You descend Mount Varastok and cross the Tsolenka Pass before setting up camp for the night. When you awake the next morning, you resume your travels and after an hour of walking, you pass through a heavy fog that obscures your vision. After spending a few moments stumbling around blindly, the fog clears up again. Elyse is nowhere to be found once it does. Before you have time to ask too many questions, you see an aasimar coming down the road, garbed like a warrior of Helm.
Samael:
Helm has been speaking to you in your dreams these past few nights. Directing you towards a land that is plagued by an evil scourge that needs to be wiped out. You see a dark castle looking over a gray land that is covered in fog. You see a lordly man, although when you look at his face, you see the anger and hatred in his dark heart. And as your dream ends, you only hear one word being whispered. Barovia. And so, at Helm's direction, you set out for this mysterious land, ready to carry out your god's will and bring light to the darkness. Before long, you start to pass through a misty forest and you reason that Barovia can't be much further.

Seeing similar looks of indecision on the faces of some others, Belzo turns away from them all, and starts to pace. With each pass his expression darkens, and grip on his newly acquired staff tightens to the point even his knuckles visibly whiten. It's not until his shadow -- which at times seems to have its own differing but ponderous posture to it -- decided to poke at a shower, that the pacing came to an end.
".... It's all... a trap. A prison. A poison... of darker things. Better we find ourselves.. not falling in the same trap... as that vampire lord...Find power elsewhere than... than become little better than him at 'Best'." Belzo strains to say as sweat started beading on his brow. Finally, he turns upon Hadrian and says, "Before we do... Hadrian, wasn't it? You found some sort of Tome earlier. Do know what it is about? Might it be a parting gift of this place as we take our leave sooner than later?"
Later:
Belzo sighs heavily at an all too familiar sight, and bundles up in his robes. "Well met, warrior of Helm" He squints at Samael. "You... are one of those, right? Or is the iconography upon you merely for show?" The scarred, turami scholar, or at least what appeared to be one judging by the robes, air of superiority, and ruined and blinded eye. Despite the somewhat cavalier attitude behind the question, he grips a strange, crystalline staff at his side rather tightly.
Samael walks through the misted that rests at his ankles. The forest was dark and his journey long, but it was a scenery he'd long since gotten adjusted to. Making his way out of the forest, he feels a pang of sadness for both the land, and the denizens trapped in here....however, he could give no quarter to the darkness here, no matter their pain. as he walks down the road, he takes note of the party and gives a small smile, before approaching them.
His crystal blue eyes exude both kindness, yet decisiveness, even as stray ends of his platinum white hair dance over them. His porcelain white skin is only tarnished by faint lines of gold, that seem to trace his body where skin is visible. Standing at 6ft 2in, his athletic build is mostly covered by his chain mail and symbols of Helm that covers both his chest and shield. A standard longsword is strapped to his waist, but a strange spear like blade is attached to his back.
Entering a semi comfortable distance (~10ft) from the party, he nods his head, and speaks in a semi-angelic voice, "Why hello there. Might I inquire where the nearest settlement lay?" Taking note of their state, he also adds in, "Do any of you require aid?" Taking note of Belzo's words, he adds in, "If I said I was, would you believe me?"
"I'm Faerynna, but everyone calls me Fae! Fae the fey!" Fae giggles. "That's Hadrian, Doremor, and Belzo," she lists off, pointing at each person in turn.
Belzo had merely looked to Ismark and the rest in answer about the nearest settlement. And to the offer of aid, he furrowed his brow but gave no straight answer right away. When it came to question to his question however, he smirks and merely said, "An interesting answer. I already like you more." Then, as if anticipating Fae, he closes his eyes and sucks in a breathe as if girding himself for something. "Belzo Balkamaar, to be more exacting. And I am afraid I have bad news for you, Sir Samael. Long story short, 'less the master of this domain allows it, OR they are deposed thoroughly from their seat, do not expect to return form where you came from."He explains, folding at least one hand behind himself.
"If either of these are your wish, and you have no qualms with facing almost guaranteed death at the hands of a powerful vampire-...." Belzo catches himself there, and looks to the others. Knowing Elysa had just disappeared, and that he was already new to the group, saying or offering more seemed inappropriate to say the least.

The smile on his face dissipates slightly, and Samael locks eyes with Belzo, "...If what you say is true, than all the more reason for me to stay." He glances at the rest of the party, "...if all of you are willing to trust me, I will gladly offer my blade in the eradication of this evil...that being said, I've only just arrived, guided solely by my God's graces, so I am ill informed on what is actually going on here."
"Bring your blade! Yay blades!" Fae cheers. "There's a big bad vampire, and he's a devil and stuff, and apparently we're supposed to stop him, and also did you know you're really shiny?"
He gives a small laugh and smiles at Fae, "Yes, I have been told that. If it bothers you, I do apologize." He then ponders for a moment, "If this vampire be a Devil or Demon, might he have a true name you've come across?"
