Hadrian will have offered greetings respective of Samael's religious devotion to Helm, having served for a time in a shrine dedicated to the god of protection.
"We fought this 'devil,' as he is called by the locals. I do not believe him to be a denizen of Asmodeus' domain...the term is likely figurative. I believe him to be undead, but we have been told that his powers are beyond mortality. Whatever he is, we need to gather more tools before we face him again."
Hadrian will suggest that we spend time studying the tome and the holy symbol to learn their secrets.
You can take a short rest to attune to the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind. To gain the benefits of the Tome, one of you will need to spend 48 hours over the next six days studying it.

If anyone mentions the tome to Samael, he'll offer to read it, eager to learn more about the situation surrounding the evil of this land and the vampire. "As I have said, so long as the foes we face are of the evil nature, or its allies, you have my promise that I'll aid you until it is defeated, and the people oppressed by it, freed."
Fae bounces up and down cheerfully. "Awesome! Welcome the group, Samael the Shiny!" She turns big, pleading eyes on Hadrian. "Can I pleasepleaseplease have the Symbol?"
"That is for you and him--" He gestures off-handedly to Hadrian. "To decide upon, young Fae. Though more importantly, what is to be our next destination. The next potential hiding place of the other objects of power? I am... would prefer it be clarified now as to avoid wandering these godforsaken paths any longer than we have to quite frankly." Belzo states gruffly, eying their surroundings with wary glances.

Samael looks back Hadrian, "I reckon you refer to these objects as tools to defeat this creature? Understood. How did you find that 'Symbol' Fae speaks of? Is there someone who might know of their locations? While on that note, outside from the vampire himself, is there anyone or thing that might be a source of evil or its ally in these lands?"
Fae bounces up and down cheerfully. "Awesome! Welcome the group, Samael the Shiny!" She turns big, pleading eyes on Hadrian. "Can I pleasepleaseplease have the Symbol?"
“I believe that the amulet must be used by someone trained in handling holy symbols. In my time as an acolyte at the shrine of all faiths in the ten towns, I learned much. If Samael wishes to study the tome, I am happy to attune to the amulet, though it is not the way of Kelemvor to grasp at power. I defer to you all as to how to best handle these relics.”
To Samael, Hadrian answers, “We only recently came upon both of these objects in an ancient temple, protected by strong magicks and occupied by violent thugs.”
(I think Fae would do a better job with it, RP wise. Is there a way to RP with regards to your clericness, Fae? Would love to get into it with you, but don't want to make assumptions)
Fae is her usual bouncy self after the Temple, but when the sun sets, she gives a gasp of wonder. Above the half moon in the sky is a moonbow, a crescent of refracted light. Fae's eyes are wide with wonder, and she whispers "I see your sign, Sehanine Moonbow, and will fulfill the purpose you request of me." For a moment, the elf seems to be bathed in moonlight, and she beams for the rest of the trip.
On the road, Hadrian notices the change come over Fae. "You seem different. A blessing, perhaps? Is that it—have you received a divine calling? Even here in this land forsaken by the gods?" Hadrian holds out the Symbol of Ravenkind. "Then there may be hope for us yet."
Roll for the tome (if anyone else wants to study it): 19
Fae turns her massive grin on Hadrian. "It was a moonbow!" she explains to him with a smile. "Over a half moon, it means that a new elf has been called to help Sehanine Moonbow spread light." She takes the symbol happily, running her finger over it with a soft smile. "There's always hope."
OOC: Since no one else has made a play for the tome, Hadrian gets it.
As you all ponder what to do next, a raven comes flying down toward you all. It bears a letter with the seal of Barovia. You open it to find this message.
My friends,
Know that it is I who have brought you to this land, my home, and know that I alone can release you from it. I bid you dine at my castle so that we can meet in civilized surroundings. Your passage will be a safe one. I await your arrival.
Your host,
Strahd von Zarovich
From your current position outside of Mount Ghakis, it would take over a week to travel to Castle Ravenloft, enough time for Hadrian to read the tome and for you to make any other preparations.
Hadrian will get to work, busily studying the Tome of Understanding to learn what secrets he may glean from it. He spends every waking hour possible poring over the book, distracted from most of the conversations around him for the better part of six days. He will continue to help as asked, including casting any spells or blessings necessary.
Reading the message, Samael is somewhat taken aback by the directness of the message, "....is the man attempting to trap us?" he looks to the others, who would know about the vampire's nature/style better than he would.
"He could have killed us when he met us last time. I don't think it's so much a trap, as it is a cat playing with its prey," says Hadrian, lost in the book. "Oh...might we stop by Blinsky's on the way, and pick up my order?"
"I think we should," says Hadrian, nose still in his book. "Never know what we might learn. Strahd could kill us whenever he wants at this point, so I see no reason to refuse. What do you think?" He briefly looks up from the tome to make eye contact with Fae.
"On that, we are of one mind, Mr. Kelemvorite." Belzo states solemnly as he looked off into the fog. "We should secure whatever provisions we can from that one village. Even if the protections are only minor, it's... better than nothing."He turns back at that point in the direction of the temple. "No.... Too late to turn back now..." He murmured in a vain attempt at fighting back a dark spiral of thoughts. "Beyond the order. If any final relics or what have you can be found along the way... or dare it be hoped 'found' at the destination, we should perhaps be prepared for at least some to play distraction. While the remainder seek these items out. Perhaps... I do not suppose there's a chance we can find someone who might have a map of the interior of the devil's home?"
