Nirzeg scowled, and glanced away moments before the creature reaveled itself. "******* Narc." He mutters, assuming the worst despite not knowing who recieved the last communication. Once he realizes what the creatures is, he lets out an even more exasperated sigh and rubs at pinches the bridge of his nose. "A Coautl. Suppose I shouldn't be all that surprised."He admits, finally looking up to the creature. "And I s'pose you already know then, since you oh' politely decide to root around in noggin or some other nonsense, that the chieftan's already dead."
"And for free, at that. So, if I were to ask you now about the giant artifact we're also after here, you wouldn't be obligated now to, I dunno, give that up to us?"

The winged serpent flies slowly to the center of the cavern, where you can all "hear" its telepathic communications.
As it hovers there, shining in radiance, all the barbarian occupants of the cavern fall prostrate. Dozens of voices all begin murmuring the word "Elrem."
The couatl speaks to all of you, burning the telepathic words into your mind. <I have no artifacts of giantkind to give; that item belongs to the people of this tribe alone. But I can see in your thoughts, and in the amulet worn by one of you, that you indeed speak the truth. Chief Wormblod the Evil is dead, by your hands. I therefore bestow upon you my favor as a reward. The good people of this tribe may be prevailed upon to aid you in your quest.>
Then, in unison, all the residents of the cavern give a start, as the couatl is obviously mentally communicating with them now.
// Each of you have been given a divine Charm of Restoration. This charm has 6 charges. You can use an action to expend some of its charges to cast one of the following spells: greater restoration (4 charges) or lesser restoration (2 charges). Once all its charges have been expended, the charm vanishes from you. Please make note of this on your character sheets! //
Even after pulling down the goggles to help shield his eyes, Nirzeg had to squint to keep staring up at the winged serpent. And he would do so, if not out of defiance, than simply less reverence for creatures of its type. Even that said, the Githyanki was more inclined to think along the lines of not angering the creature, remembering at least some tales of overly greedy raiders having run afoul of the creatures in their overzealous hunts across the multiverse.
"You.... have our thanks, Elrem, I presume?"He quirked a brow. "And look, I rather not... what's the word... put you out, I think..."He huffs. "Sorry. My common tongue on this world is not the best. What I'm trying to ask is if you can relay to the tribe here about any trophies or artifacts of giantkind they might have while you apparently got their attention. Save us both some time, all things considered. Or by the ninez, if you got any other blessings to at least grant one of us the ability to communicate with them, that'd much would be at least appreciated."

Without another word, the couatl recedes, and disappears back into the stone altar. The burning presence you felt in your minds likewise recedes.
One of the elderly women steps forward. In broken common, she says, "I...now speak for...the tribe. You...seek treasure. Elrem has...tell...us, that what you seek is from giant. Come, I show."
The old woman takes you up the incline towards the crescent-shaped gong, which rests in a crude stone frame. It is a beaten copper disc, 13 feet in diameter, wrapped in what looks to be red scales, possibly from a dragon. It hangs from two strong, but ancient, ropes.
"This...treasure. Ancestors kill giant, bring this...here. Glory to Uthgar. Glory to Elrem. But now, you...take." The woman gestures towards the heavy gong.
"Or you can do that because why not." Nirzeg stated flatly as hope of simplicity gave the middle finger as it departed view. Just as he'd begun pinch the bridge of his nose again and contemplated the merits of petty revenge, hearing the steps of another immediately drew his gaze. "Hn. My... Thanks, Elder." Nirzeg had replied haltingly as he followed after the woman.
And while he half-expected the gong to be some kind of summoning device, his eyes went a little wide at the final statement. "You mean... aww ****'n by the nine -- you -are-serious."He looked to the gong again, and then sighs. "Think you can convince some remaining warriors to help move the thing outside the cavern then?" He asked. Though if need be, he would look to Derrikoth and saying, "Looks like we got some heavy lifting to do. I can shrink it for a bit, but I'll likely be tapped out once we get the damn thing back to the ship... as head's up."

// Feel free to make a Persuasion check, but the check is made with disadvantage for an unknown reason. //
Nirzeg grimaced, and would first to Derrikoth with an almost -- ALMOST pleading look. But then in remembering the Dragonborn's own position in regards to the locals, he sharply looked back to the elder and says, "Perhaps not stronger than warriors. Would not take otherwise. Would not be here otherwise. But need that-..."He gestures to the gong. "To stop giants. Use giants own weapon against them."He says, changing tacts slightly upon seeing her reaction, before then giving her his best, reassuring grin.
Nirzeg squints hard at the older woman, but soon after rolls his eyes. "Very well. If you must insist. Just keep your people out of our way... And don't complain if something goes awry."He said while stepping away to examine the gong. "Red! Mind goin' out there to the ship, and make sure they're ready to receive our prize? Tho' do hurry back!" The request made, Nirz gives Derrikoth a sidelong glance just before casting Identify on the gong.
"So what do you think, Blue? Think you can manage to carry these thing if I cast a spell to grant you flight?" He asked casually.

Nirzeg can tell this massive artifact has seen many ancient battles. The copper is covered in red dragon scales, and its shape is that of a shield, though it has been broken.
The gong has no inherent enchantment, but it obviously has great ceremonial significance to the worshipers here, including those of many past generations. It almost pulses with spiritual energies.
Lydia's allows the Guiding Bolt to dissipate. "Well, that is a relief." She says as the couatl turns out to be good-aligned and non-hostile. "Yes, let's take the gong."
