You finish your beacon ( Otrov, Dain and Relgalyn get a serving as well), pack your staff and say your goodbys. Nobody and Otrov each rent out one room for the next week To store your stuff. You make a quick stop at Barthens to pick up more supplies and a mule to carry the load.
It is already afternoon, but the road allows you to travel in a brisk pace and you manage to cover 10 miles and reach the Triboar Trail. You travel another 30 minutes, before you stop and make camp in a small grove off the road.
Are you makeing a fire or not? And i need 3 people to roll perception (with advantage) please
Long rest in the wilderness:
A fire slightly increases the chance of a random encounter, but it also gives you advantage on the perception check, so it makes it less likely to be surprised. Without a fire, i will use the first roll of your perception checks.
Also people who are fighting during the long rest, will only gain the bennefits of a short rest.
You set up a fire for the night. You set up shifts for the night and there are always 2 people keeping watch. It is a beautiful summer night, and beside crickets and the occasional owl, everything stays quiet. ( Long Rest & rations -1)
You use some dried fruits and oats to make porridge for breakfast before you get back on the road. Around midday you leave the road behind and turn north to cross the plain towards the Neverwinter Woods. It is a very nice day for travel. While traveling the grassland , you come across a small creek where you can rest and fill up your waterskins again.
Kai and Otrov are the first to spot it. It is hard to make out , because you have to look into the sun, but some flying creatulre is fast aproaching you from the south. Maybe 800 feet away and closing in.
Otrov stops in mid-slurp and squints into the distance. “Uhh, guys? Somethings flying towards us,” Otrov nods toward the thing, “and fast.” She readies The Prick and stows as much as she can in her pack, popping in a chunk of bacon and gives a wink to the goblin. ”Can anyone see what it is? Maybe spreading out a bit might be wise?” Realizing the others have been together longer, she leaves it at that and waits for others to chime in.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kai looks up in the direction Otrov gestures in and squints as well, sitting her drink and break feed ast to the side as she stands, her hand glowing an aqua green defensively (holding sacred flame for if this thing attacks us).
Perception: 10

"Huh?" Nobody wipes the water from his face using a sleeves, and squints up where directed. Even after remembering to put his glasses back on his well, the tiefling shook his head. "N-nothing but the sun, I'm afraid. B-but good advice. Try not to get too separated though. That might invite whatever it is to start picking us off one by one." On that note, Nobody makes a sharp gesture at a nearby stretch of earth, and then hold his hand outstretched there.
Up until whatever it was reached the 150ft mark, the Tiefling busily shifts bits and pieces of the landscape into a small, five foot deep trenches and cubbies to hide within if necessary. Only afterwards does he ready the a cold hand of death for the potential foe.

Relgalyn would be sitting a little ways off from the rest of the group so as not to disturb them while he tunes his instrument to his desires, and has no idea that something is coming just giving a distracted wave when Otrov speaks up.
Whatever closes in, is a large creature, and it is fast. Within the blink of the eye it covered 150 feet and it is now 650 feet away. Nobody you move 5 cubic feet of dirt.
Zurzg notices everyone else preparing weapons, and nocks an arrow to his own bow, baring his teeth at Otrov as he spies more bacon. "Zurzg think maybe big bird we can kill and eat?"
For a moment the creature opens it wings to adjust its dive towards you, you can see giant bat like wings. Against the sun you are unable to make out any colors . It is now a bit under 600 away.
Margret, can you roll a perception check for your familiar please, with disadvantege if it stays close by, normal if it moves 100 feet away.

Seeing Zurzg‘s envious glare, Otrov rips a chunk and throws it to the drooling goblin. “Otrov give for Zurzg!”Unsure if the flying creature is friend, foe, or other, Otrov creeps to a spot not far from the newly made trench in case she needs to dice in. She looks closer to see if she can identify anything more about the creature (perception 14)
