Even early in the morning you already feel the summer heat and there isn‘t a single cloud visible in the sky over the Neverwinter Woods. From the beginning of todays march Zurzg is distracted and several times he runs of after squirrels or other small animals and Nobody spends a a huge amount of his time to chase after the goblin. Margaret tries to lead you towards the location that Falcon marked on your map and with Dains guidance (2) she is able to do a decent job, but the heat of the day and the wild forrest take their toll and you only manage to cover around 12 miles for the day.
Otrov twice you come across animal tracks and when you describe them to everyone else you figure out that one set ( in the morning) belongs to a giant frog and the other one to a large carnivore, maybe a bear or a wolf (in the afternoon).
Both sets don‘t pose a danger, because they lead in a different direction compared to your destination, but if you want, you can try to follow them ( would take away some of your travel distance).
If you decide to ignor the tracks, you can settle down for the night. You will set up a campfire and take turns with the watch. In that case, give me 3 perception checks with advantage please ( If you got a familiar, you can use the familiars perception for the check, but you still roll only one check with advantage).
Dain and Zurzg will take the first watch. With the setting of the sun, the air begins to cool down to a pleasant temperature. It is one hour into your watch, when you start to hear a swarm of hummingbirds. They seam to come closer from a north west direction. You get up and carefully get a bit closer. Around 45 ft into the forest you see a small swarm of five stirge who approach the campside. Your comrades sleep 15 feet behind you around the campfire. What do you do?
Dain frowns and decides to take care of two birds with one stone. He steps forward and casts thunderwave trying to catch as many of the creatures as he can in the spell.
DC 13 Con save or take 4 damage and be knocked away from Dain. Half damage on save.
That will do it. A loud boom rattles the trees and 5 stirges drop to the ground. Four of them die instantly and one twitches on the forrest floor, before it succumbs to its injuries. As you expected, the loud noise scared a few forest creatures nearby and woke your comrades, but a quick scan of the situation and a short explanation later, everyone returns to their bedrolls.
The rest of the night passes without a hitch and without further interruption. Dain, the next morning you wake up with a headache and you didn‘t get as much rest as you would have wished (You only got a short rest and no risk of exaustion) if you and the other wish, you can rest 2 more hours to recover your spellslot but it would impact the amount of time you can travel.
Everyone else gets a longrest. Everyone marks of 1 ration on their character sheet please.
Nobody, you can mark of one more hour.
Who leads todays travel and what is everyone else doing?
Wanting to seem useful, Otrov will head out on the trail in the front, Survival: 18. ensuring we stay on track and paying particular attention to tracks and animal droppings.
"I take it you didn't sleep well. We're not in that much of a hurry, and it'll take time to break camp and get ready, if you want to rest a little longer."
Nobody just nods in agreement with Margret. Between the rude awakening having somewhat disrupted his own sleep and debt of thanks there for removing the threat, the tiefling hardly had a foot to arguing on anyways. Plus the time it takes for Dain to recover just meant more he could spend on studying his book free from trouble. That is, assuming Zurzg's antics didn't require he stop every five minutes to make sure the goblin didn't get into too much trouble. And even if he did, Nobody stays patient with him in such incidents.

Why wouldn't Dain get a full rest? It was during his watch that he had the confrontation, and he took care of it in a couple of seconds. Watch would then have switched to someone else and he would have gone to sleep. He wouldn't have stayed up any extra due to this vs his normal watch rotation, so I don't understand where this is coming from.

Through Nobody's persistence, Zurzg finally gets the hint that he shouldn't try to hunt and lead the party at the same time. Letting another lead the way, he spend his day around the periphery of the group, attempting to catch various wild game.
Otrov would like to take some time to focus on the trail they are following, looking for tracks of anything that has come this way before.

Relgalyn is good with leaving right away or waiting, either way.
Dain will continue to rest until he feels better and then will be ready to go.
Ok, what is everyone doing during todays hike through the forrest?
