Assuming Dain’s “open book” stance is still in effect, Otrov places The Prick gently on the ground, takes off her pack, wraps some of her rope around her waist, and takes her manticore spike weapon out and wades carefulky and silently into the water where Dain indicates. She takes a deep breath and gives her companions a wink and slips under. Immediately she comes out, “if you feel a hard tug, pull me out!” she whispers and slips back under, piton in one hand manticore spike in her teeth, going for the shiny!
Do vipers like water? She thinks to herself. Hmmm, Otrov the eel glides towards her prey, silent deadly, eel!
You see the skeletal remains of a humanoid (human, elf or something similar) on the bottom of the pond, barbed metal shards the size of your dagger stuck in its rips. Through the bones you see a shiny bronze wand with a tip made of a blue crystal shard.
Drawn to the item, Otrov grabs it and pulls hard on the rope twice and begins to swim calmly back to the shore, being careful not to splash around like Uncle Trapspringer’s pet blink dog. She’ll show Dain when she gets to shore (and anyone else, for that matter).
The halfling shakes herself off, having seen Zurgz do something similar before. Hmm, not bad, she thinks approvingly. She gears back up and gives The Prick a smooch.
Listening intently to Margret's scouting report, she muses, "Hmm, well it seems the middle could be clogged up, leaving the sides free. We could loop back southward, towards Fungus Town - or maybe there's an exit out of this area. Either way, I think having set the Cube where it is now could be a nice surprise for some of our foes." She grins at this last part. "You know, it might not be a bad idea to sprinkle a little cheer around,"she pats her pouches full of ball bearings and (WTH are the spiky things people step on? brain fart!)...

I will just assume the 5 of you and the familiars will keep your eyes open for spiderwebs and tripwires: The strands of spider silk start again at the stairs. You can keep moving slowly forward in that direction and burn them with a torch if you wish to do so. Beside the webs, Marco sees an intersection that leads in all cardinal directions and a closed door east of the intersection.
(as a general location: the door is on the same level as the forge, but you to far east to directly connect to the forge from here. You judge there may be 1 large or two small rooms between that door and the forge.)
"We would need to take a bit of a rest for me to study the wand enough to know what it does." Dain says as he puts the wand into his pack. "I could simply try it, but that might cause more harm than good."
"Agreed but I suggest you put another of your alarm spells back at where we came into this area first. Then again the longer we wait the greater chance of discovery. Could you see if that stairway has any magic to it Dain?"
(Considering that detect magic last 10 minutes)
Margret says to Otrov with a wink
"You are our trap springer do you see any physical traps there? Even after we burn the webs."

Otrov
”sure,” Otrov says to Margret. She appraises the webs again, looking to see if there’s anything more to them if possible. Then she’ll look for additional traps on the northern stairs. Investigation - 7
There is no magic aura visible around beside what the characters may have brought with them (Margarets longsword or the wand for example).
As for the wand, it seams to be a fairly easy design, point it somewhere and press the arcane runes that are carved into it. It doesn‘t seam to require attunement.
The stairs don‘t seam to be trapped, only the spiderwebs wich seam to be simple threads.
Zurzg helps with burning the webs. But unless directed to otherwise, he leaves listening at the doors to others. As far as the discovery of the wand and its easy use, the words hardly gain any more interest than most other things so far. For whatever was the strange thing Zurzg ate, that Kai and Gundren only knew of so far from the time before the group returned last, little seemed to concern the little goblin as much anymore.

Margaret looks at the door, but realises that short from opening, she has no clue what she is looking at. She steps back to let Otrov have a shot and the halfling has a more professional look into it. She doesn‘t see any traps and it apears to be not locked or blocked.

"It doesn't need you to get familiar with it Dain, you just use it. Even Otrov can use it"
She looks at the stairway "Lets burn webs again then listen at the door"
Getting Marco to keep watch she starts with the torch

"Could you check the door? We don't need to open it just yet" she whispers to Otrov
