Dihek'nir inspects his wounds and finds them not life-threatening. He then steps up to the "cooking" knife and takes it down from the wall.
Over his shoulder he says, "Hey, guys, do you mind if I try this on for size?"
Thinking for himself for a bit, "Lets see", looks around, steps up to the corpse of the hag and hacks its head off. "This needs cleaning," and goes and shoves the knife into the coals under the pot.
(OOC: I'll add it to the inventory later if everyone is OK with it)
"Yes, we are indeed the Duke's men. And I understand".
However, a younger-looking man interjects:
"But we can be useful to you! The Duke sent us here to set up an advance headquarters if an assault on Kirkleigh was ever needed! We can provide information for the Count! I assume he sent you..."
Before he finishes his sentence, though, he is smacked in the face by the old man. The youth slumps down to the floor, clearly having no energy to retaliate, while the old man says:
"Did those monsters eat your honor too, boy? Have you forgotten your vows?"
“I respect yor honor, old man. But just think, what is the worth of an oath, if in the end it only puts you in a grave. What do you earn when paying the hihgest price?“
"My honor is my life, both grow in one. Take honor from me, and my life is done. Since I cannot pay whatever price you ask of me, without forsaking my honor, then, paying that "highest price" is all that I have left to do", Says the old man and turns his back onto you.
The Old man does not react, while the others seem more contemplative. The young man that was recently hit by the old man seems to be very deep in thought. Nobody responds, however.
The old man is silent, but the young one finally responds to Dihek'nir's question:
"It... it was a monstrosity. We had camped out downstairs, wanting to spend the night before working on establishing a base here and... It just materialized out of nowhere, emerging form a huge portal that was not there before... It was huge, much larger than that ape and looked like a cross between a demon and a pig... We never stood a chance, as we had been caught with our pants down, the only sentries being placed at the entrance of the temple... The creature incapacitated us, then had the Hag, the Ape and the Headless dog emerge from the portal as well... The Hag changed her voice and had the sentries come back inside, who were then quickly subdued... It was over in minutes... You killed the Hag and the Ape, and the Dog was guarding the entrance, at least that's what the Hag had ordered it to do... So, unless something else has come from the portal as well, the enormous Pig-Demon is all that remains downstairs... And it is too large to fit onto those stairs, so if it comes here, that will either happen through the floor, or via another portal..."
At the same time, a third person speaks up. She says the following:
"That thing... It is far too dangerous and none of you seem to be particularly healthy... Kill us if you must, but, for your own sake, leave this place without going downstairs".
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dihek'nir nods, "Lets rest, but lets do it at the entrance. Just so we don't collapse another floor. Anyone got any rope?"
"I'll look through this first as well. I didn't really understand who was controlling whom from that description. Would someone care to join me on this for another pair of eyes?" He steps over to the corpse of the hag, lights up the place around it (Dancing Lights) and uses Mage Hand to remove the clothing and everything else piece by piece, turning the corpse around with a swift kick when needed. He will then sort through the resulting stuff looking for something that could account for controlling the ape or the dog or the demon thing. (investigation check if needed, hoping someone else will join in on this as well: 9)
(OOC: as I understand then the upper floor has collapsed on one side and makes it fairly impossible to just walk outside?)
Before any members of the party have a chance to continue the discussion, a huge *PLOP* is heard. In front of where you all stand, between you and the pillar, a huge monster appears. Like the prisoners explained, it looks like a hybrid between a pig and a demon. More specifically, it looks like this:
Some of you even recognize the creature to be a Nalfeshnee, a rather horrendous fiend. One additional thing you notice is, that instead of the determination of someone ambushing its prey, the face of the creature betrays surprise.
Before any of you, including the Nalfeshnee, have a chance to react, opposite the monster, a wall of ice erupts from the ground. From it, as if from a portal, another creature emerges. It is roughly of the same height as the demon, but looks like a broad-shouldered knight in full-plate armor, with a horned helmet and glowing eyes. more specifically, it looks like this:
None of you recognize this creature. It steps towards the Nalfeshnee, raising its hands, with a huge sword made of ice manifesting itself within them. The demon barely has the time to blink as the Ice-Knight cuts it down, severing its body diagonally into two.
Then, after making sure the Nalfeshnee is dead, the Knight moves closer to the party. The Sword in its hands disappears and the creature, very slowly, bows to you. Then, in a flash of ice, it disappears.
Several seconds later, you can hear a voice coming from the cell. It's the old man:
Before all this insanity happened, Dihek'nir went through the Hag's items, finding a huge rusted key, but nothing else that seems useful, in her possession. The key seems to fit perfectly with the lock for the cell inside which the prisoners are located. It was exactly after making this find, that the huge creatures appeared in the room.
OOC: Part of the upper floor did indeed collapse, but you should still be able to walk out, if doing so carefully.
„I’d say we get out of this hole set for the night and then decide what to do with those“ ferdinand motions to the prisoners. „They should be safe in here„
Dihek'nir pulls his glowing hot knife out of the coals and sets it on the table to cool.
"Oh, him, don't mind him. His name is George and he's kind of watching over us with one eye while he's off playing golf with the titans or whatnot on some outer planes."
He goes and unlocks the cell, opening the door, but staying in the opening for a bit. "Kind of makes you re-evaluate all that honor bit, huh?"
Looking dead in the eyes of the old man, "But your choices are your choices and I respect them."
He takes a look at all the weaponry they found here and throws all but a single dagger into the bubbling pot. He places the dagger on the table and waves others to follow him up the stairs.
"well as it seems we all will exit" ferdinand walks over to dihek'nir and whispers: "Now how do you plan on containing them? Do you want to keep watch all night long? Until they have chosen they'r fate, i dont think they should escape. makes the entire point useless."
"I am not comfortable killing unarmed men. We have an option...cover their faces and remove all clothing giving away who they are, and take them as prisoners. If they agree to this. disguise then there may be no issue."
From previous post.....However, if you take prisoners, make sure that either the Count's men do not find you while you're en route to here, or, at the very least, be certain that they do not realize it's the Duke's men that you are hauling.
