Maya tries her 'final' shopping attempt once more #6

After getting stumped last time, Maya decides to do a little more research before heading out to try again. And her extra time pays off! She finds a cloak of protection for a great price after discount! (255gp)
Feeling good with that find, she tries once more to see if she can find another within her budget.
First 5 days to buy a magic item Spending 100GP for "Buying a Magic Item" Base: -1 High Magic Setting: +10 Additional 15 days: + 3 Total modifier: +12 Persuasion vs DC 15: 25 Cost: 1 x 100

Maya was lucky enough to find a second Cloak of Protection, although not at such a great price, it just made it within her budget (425gp). She was practically tapped out of her spending money. But she felt as though she had a good run with her training and shopping during her down time.
Maya would spend her last 10 days accompanying the others should they welcome her company. She would gift Toonary a Cloak of Protection (if he would accept it). The druid would also be willing to put her new skills to test. She'd offer to cook dinner for everyone and make up some rations for their next adventure!

As the final week of downtime rolls around, Gridolpho joins up with the group. The thief sports a new blade at his side and a fashionable earring curled around his left ear. He orders three pitchers of clean water and places two of them in front of Toonary before beginning to chug his own. Pausing for breath...
"Drink up, heifer. Ya gonna need it where we's goin'."
"Listen up, y'all. I'm takin' the horn head here carousin'. We're both in dire need o' exercising some bad habits. If'n we ain't back by the end o' tha week, check the jail then check tha morgue."
Gridolpho drop a coin pouch on the table.
"Tha's fer bail or burial. I counted it and I'll wan' it back."
The lightfoot cracks his knuckles, stretches his arms and shoulders, does a few squats with deep breaths and walks out into the street with the minotaur in tow.
Stopping in the middle of the street, he shifts his feet feeling the texture of the cobbles as he closes his eyes and waits a moment.
The sounds of The Street dance around in his ears and he sorts them out. Ignoring the fishmonger cries, the laughing urchins and the cawing gulls the faint and distant refrain of a drunken shanty is finally heard.
The thief's eyes snap open and he turns sharply left.
As the group joins up prior to the final week and Gridolpho mentions he's taking Toonary on a grand master plan, Maya would raise a brow at their enthusiastic lightfoot. The druid would pull out the extra Cloak of Protection she acquired and present it to Toonary as a gift. "Don't get into too much trouble without us." She'd smile.
Accepting the coin pouch off the table, Maya would test its weight before putting it safely in her bag of holding. "It's more than enough for your burial if he comes back with a criminal record." The genasi would wink plafully at Gridolpho. "Seriously. Not a scratch." She would put her hands on her hips and raise her brows at their thief. After a moment her face would relax and the druid would smile again, even with a soft chuckle escaping her lips. She knew they were more than capable of taking care of themselves.
"Have fun!" Maya would say honestly when the pair would set off on their mission.
Maya would invite Seethe to spend some girl time together by the waters. The druid would put her new cooking skills to the test, cooking up some meals for them and some bacon rations for their next group mission!
First she would spend some weeks learning how to brew potions ( Alchemyst's and Herbalism ) and aiding the fishers community with services to Procan to protect the sailors.

(Now that everyone has finished Downtime, on with the Story)
The Party has just finished a hearty lunch at , The Snapping Line Inn when you are approached by a member of the Saltmarsh City Watch. She hands you a sealed envelope with Saltmarsh City Seal. Opening it you pull out a letter it reads.
Greetings Brave Adventurers,
The Town Council of Saltmarsh humbly requests your presence at tonight's council meeting.
As you ponder why the Council has summoned you, Eliander Fireborn (human, male) walks through the front door. He doffs his great helm, and looks around the room. Spotting the Party he makes his way across the room to your table. Eliander smiles, and nods his head in greeting. " Well met brave adventurers. Your reputation for succeeding where others fail continues to grow.
Toonary looks at the human, rubbing his face with his hand "Why human yell so loud Toonary can hear fine." Toonary drinks his water, and then Maya's water as well.
Fireborn smiles at Toonay's remark then addresses the Party. " I stopped by to make sure that you attend tonight's meeting. The Lizardfolk, Merfolk, and Locathah have all representatives. We're going to discuss our mutual Sahugin problem." He informs you. "I also want to ask if you would help patrol the Docks after the meeting? Several people have disappeared, and the last time anyone saw them was around the Docks." He states.
At first Maya couldn't understand why Toonary was thinking the man was shouting. But when the minotaur would chug back his water, and hers, and press his hand against his head, she finally clued in. The druid would take in a small breath of surprise at the realization, then a soft chuckle in amusement, then her face would rest on a soft smile. She'd give Toonary a gentle pat on the back, rubbing it before casting a glance at Gridolpho. Oh we better hear all about this... Maya would look for another mug of water to hand Toonary.
Maya would nod her head to Eliander, "We will make ourselves presentable for the meeting tonight, and prepare for patrol after. Any other information besides dissappearances at the docks? Are the targets random? Any one seek out any witnesses yet?"
Eliander answers Maya's query. "Unfortunately, that damn fog that's been rolling in at night has prevented anyone from seeing anything, but shapes in the fog. Humanoid, according to several witness. One witness reported he caught the faint smell of rotting fish. The people that have gone missing are mostly young adults." He looks at Gridolpho. "I was hoping that you would help me out of a desire to perform your civic duty, Master Halfling." The Captain of the Guard says with a small laugh.
