Soar, the dragon attempts to move to the side, but your swing anticipates this, and cuts a large chunk of flesh from about half-way down its body. What follows is a horrific, high-pitched screech, surprisingly from a fairly large creature.
As its mouth screams in anguish, Breena's arrow flies as if from nowhere, entering the mouth and piercing the lower jaw; the creature closes its mouth, snapping the arrow in two, and turns with hatred and fear in its eyes to look upon the party. It is close to death.
Round Two:
Group A: Elspeth and Jalt, in any order Group B: Drake Group C: Breena and Soar, in any order
(OOC: not clear yet whether Jalt or Elspeth got the killing blow, but the drake is most definitely dead)
Combat is over.
You stand in a dark passageway, maybe seven feet across; at the end is a door that seems to be broken. On the floor is a dead drake and two dead and frozen kobolds. The sounds of battle echo down the passageway; the keep’s defenders are still outside and battling the invaders, counting on you to get into the guard room and seal off the Sally Port.

Soar goes to high five both Jalt and Elspeth but realizes her hands are full and instead looks up with a big grin. Without a word, she walks forward, with a bit of caution because again she almost died today.
She takes a quick look and listen as she approaches the room for any sign of hostile intent (perception 15) before proceeding into the room through the broken door. This is assuming the door is broken OPEN, but if it is closed she will offer to hit it hard with her hammer unless someone else has a better way to handle it...
"Did we just kill a dragon? That's pretty awesome... I mean, it was a small one but that's still a dragon!" Breena grins at the group and goes to follow Soar to try and get the sally port sealed off.
Soar, there is no sign of hostile creatures nearby, but the door is in bad shape. You attempt to push it open, but it does not move; it appears that it is broken off its hinges and somehow wedged in place. If you would like to attempt to force it open, make a straight Strength check.
Elspeth waits until the corpse of the drake definitely stops twitching before she lets out a sigh of relief. "We didn't do too badly." She agrees, with a faint smile, skirting around the corpses to follow Breena and Soar.

Soar looks to Escobar, asking "this is the only way in, right? We should force it open?" and if he doesn't respond in the negative, she pauses to accept help from Breena and/or Elspeth in forcing open the door, using her hammer as a battering ram with a running start alongside her companions (strength: 22).
Breena and Elspeth aren't really able to render much assistance, but Soar doesn't seem to need it. She strains against the door, and it shifts, slightly. Again, and it shifts a little more. Again, and again, and slowly the door begins to crack and warp; after a solid five minutes of effort, the door cracks one final time, the hinges give way, and the whole thing falls back into the guard room.
The room is bare, functional, dusty and clearly rarely used. There are a few broken tables piled up against one wall, but otherwise little of interest. You can see the mechanism that raises and lowers the portcullis has been damaged; you can actually see the top half of the portcullis protruding through the floor. Someone from below has forced the metal bars upwards with such strength that they have stuck in this half-open position. It would be a strength check to force the bars down again and jam them closed, but there is space for two people to work on this together.
(Please choose someone to roll a strength check, with advantage if someone else helps. Please note that if Soar attempts to join in with this, she risks a point of exhaustion from the strain.)
Soar is going to take a look at the door she just strained to open to figure out how it was broken (investigation: 22).
She will offer to help if needed, but she's taking a breather after getting the door open. As she catches her breath, she also looks into the state of the mechanism that normally raises the portcullis to see if there's a way it can be repaired (investigation: 11).
Soar, you can't really say how the door got into its current state.
The mechanism that controls the portcullis is old and neglected; ropes are frayed, metal parts rusted. The invaders, pushing from below, were able to snap something in the machinery that allowed them to push the portcullis up half way, where it jammed. There's nothing to be done tonight except force it back down and lock it in place; a skilled artisan will be able to fix the mechanism properly, or construct a replacement, in a few days.
Jalt, it takes a good few minutes, but you are able to push the portcullis back down; you have gravity on your side, so this task is not as demanding as Soar's. As the portcullis hits the stone floor beneath, you hear three things: first, the loud clang of the metal hitting stone, second, the cheering of the guards defending the keep; they know that they have the numbers to win, and the invaders will have no immediate reinforcements. Third, you hear the sound of movement from outside the guard room.
Three humans and two kobolds burst through the open doorway at full speed; the humans wield scimitars, the kobolds sharp, ugly daggers. The humans look a little less like bandits than the ones you've faced before; their armour is better and suggests a uniform, though there is no obvious marking to say whose uniform it might be. One human stops, points at you all and shouts For the Queen! The others raise their weapons.
(Breena would have tried to help Jalt, but I imagine she might not have been able to reach and her 40 pounds and -1 strength probably didn’t do much. Still, she would have tried)
Turning when the newcomers enter the room, Breena grumbles. “Oh, come on. We just got the thing... you guys don’t quit, do you?”

Elspeth , initially relieved they managed to get the portcullis down, whirls around as the new opponents enter the guard room. "Queen?" She echoes, confused by the volunteered information, "Which queen?"
A: Humans One, Two and Three B: Jalt C: Kobolds One and Two D: Soar, Elspeth and Breena, in any order
A: Humans
Elspeth, one of the humans looks over at you, an expression of religious rapture on his face: The Queen. He says it as if this is answer enough to your question. However, as he cannot reach you, he strikes his scimitar down at Jalt:
Attack: 21 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
The blow glances off the dragonborn's chainmail armour.
The second human also looks at Elspeth with incredulity and fervour. The Queen comes. She then turns to Soar, and repeats, louder: The Queen comes! and attacks the paladin:
Attack: 8 Damage: 5
The strike is parried effortlessly by Soar.
The third human looks at Jalt: You shall not stop her!
Attack: 23 Damage: 6
This time, the scimitar bashes against the armour and manages to find a hole to penetrate; the dragonborn is injured, though not too badly.

Jalt recognizing that the drake is in serious trouble runs close to it, raises his mace high and swings down NAR SIA IRLYM!!!

"Ive heard it both ways."
Seeing her bonfire was rather useless, Elspeth shoots a stone using her sling at the creature.
