You inspect the small twig figures trying to determine what they are or why they are there. You don't see any significance to them beyond how they clearly resemble each member of the party.
As Chip reaches out to gather them up though they suddenly spring to life and attack!
The twig creatures leap off of the mantle and begin attacking the party. Kazri and Krom are attacked, but their armor keeps them from being hurt. Chill is able to duck away while Chip has a claw rake across his face. Rhogar also has a couple gang up on him and claw at him cutting through the ice.

"AHHH! Ya damn twig bastards!" He would shout as flames erupt from his mouth as he jerks his head to engulf as many of the small creatures as possible (without hitting friends if possible course...) The dragonborn would clutch his face as flames dance across his scales "That stings!"

"By Moradin's flaming beard!" says Krom as the twigs spring to life and start attacking the party. As armor blocks the monster's attack, Krom brings down on it his warhammer in retaliation.
Warhammer (enchanted by Blessing of the Forge) : Attack: 29 Damage: 22
(@DM: The two twig creatures to hit Rhogar took 10 ice damage each. And still got 4 Temp HP left)
With every strike the lands, frost spreads across an offending limb. If the two to strike survive the chill, a brightly grinning Rhogar shakes his staff to the side, engulfing it in bright, blue flames. And if not them, then the next closet pair, regardless of the personal risk. Ghorar in the meantime tries to make herself as small as possible behind his head, and focus on just keeping from off-balance her Dragonborn brother.
Action: Casts (Cantrip)Bursting Blow - Attack: 25 Damage: 17 non-magical bludgeoning and fire damage. Plus an adjacent twig creature takes 7 fire damage.
If that is a miss, burning Favored by the Gods to add: 4 to the attack roll.
(In Kazri’s turn) Kazri will hit one of the twig creatures that are attacking Rhogar. (Attack: 23 Damage: 7)

Kazri - Level 10 Human Paladin (Oath of the Ancients) - The Tales of the Fellowship of the White Cloaks Hildebrand Took - Level 2 Fallohide Hobbit Messenger - A Tangled Skein - Adventures in Western Middle-Earth
"Science is organized knowledge. Wisdom is organized life."
@Orileo - Yes, sorry, missed that you cast that at 2nd level
As the 2 twigs claw at the face of Rhogar they suddenly turn to ice and fall dead. Krom swings a mighty blow and one of the twig creatures explodes into flying pieces of bark and leaves. Kazri and Chill both kill a twig creature as the last remaining twig ducks to avoid the majority of the flame bursting from Chip. Rhogar lashes out at the singed twig but his attack misses.
Can Rekuburk finish off the last poor twig or does it live to fight another round?

"OOOOHH! Look at this!" Chip would say as he holds his hand with one hand and rushes over to pick up the silver object in the other. "This looks expensive, we should take this with us. He would add with a grin.
"Perhaps, Chip. Perhaps. We know not know whatever devilry may be tied to this place, or what lies within." Rhogar comments on while brushing a few loosened patches of ice from a shoulder. Though only a faint echo of the armor remained, he hesitates part way into a new incantation, and then abandons it; trusting the armor to last "long enough". "More importantly. Let's finish looking around starting... there?" He gestures to the door by the fireplace.

Stone steps lead down to a flagstoned courtyard (W8) that has a pillared arcade to the east. Seven windows on the upper level overlook the courtyard, in the middle of which is a five-foot-wide stone well with thick vines erupting from it. Guttural snorts and yells erupt from the southeast corner of the manse, signaling the presence of orcs nearby.
If you speak orc
Those of you who understand the Orc language can overhear the orcs planning some sort of attack.

Krom whispers to the group "Orcs planning some sort of attack, be ready." the dwarf then points in the direction of the noises. Preparing for the orcs' ambush Krom murmurs an hymn to enchance his senses.

Rekuburk cuts the last twig creature clean in half and the room falls quiet again.
In the scuffle of the fight the broken table parts have shifted and you see a tarnished silver candelabrum laying in the ruined mess.
There is also a closed wooden door on the south side of the wall next to the fireplace.
Edit to add -
There is another closed wooden door on the north wall of the room.

(OOC @DM Can Krom understands from the voices how many orcs are nearby?)
No, more than a few but you can't determine a number.
"So what is the plan?" Chip would whisper to the others as he holds his longsword and horn.
Rekuberk listens intently, looking to the others slowly. "Shall we put an end to them now or plan an attack?"
"I say we go now" Chip would add holding his sword tightly.
