Zeke nods as Ethan passes on Arvel's message, and then smiles slightly as the artificer asks to examine his gear and measure his wings.
'Perhaps the tinkering could wait just a bit longer my friend? At least until we're certain I won't have to slaughter this lot here.' he inclines his head ever so slightly toward the goblins clustered in the dining hall keeping his blade sheathed but makes no effort to keep his voice down. 'They've been fine allies up until this point, and I'd hate to have to do anything rash, but I'm not entirely sure what's going to happen between Master Arvel and Yeemik.'
'But make no mistake, whatever the outcome of that conversation, Oghma's shrine will be restored and will not be desecrated again.' As the tiefling finishes, his voice rises to a booming thunderous roar and the ground underneath the goblins quakes (thaumaturgy). If Ethan were quick, he'd get a clear look at the mechanics of the barbarian's wings as he flexed them and spread to their full sweep, flaring himself out to drive home his point.
"Actually Zeke," Elra says quietly, "I think we should take it somewhere else. It wouldn't be fair to restore the shrine here, where it would never be used for worship. For the goblins or Oghma. Maybe... maybe we should take it back to Phandalin with us."
Fae's chest would rise and fall with heavy breaths following the launch of her missiles. Her eyes would be fixed ahead at the bloody scene that unfolded before her in the dining hall. Her heart would pound in exhilaration witnessing Tarja's sheer raw strength as a bear. The scholar was in awe.
She could feel Ethan's presence behind her during the whole event, but it wasn't until he broke the silence that she'd pull her eyes away from the scene. Fae would look over her shoulder to him before turning around all the way to study his body language and expression as he spoke. Her eyes would focus on him, then through him as he walked away with Elra and Arvel, remembering flashes of comments and expressions made by him previously during their adventures.
Fae agreed with Elra. She had no desire to rush off to travel back to Phandalin tonight. There was a lot for them to process and review from the day. When she mentioned the brazier again, her heart sunk, remembering the images of destruction Oghma shared in her dreams. The wizard has yet to inspect and see for herself what Elra had found below.
While the Arvel, Elra and Ethan continue in the other room, Fae would finally turn to look at Zeke. A gut-wrenching feeling would churn in the pit of her stomach as she comes to the realization that she had unleashed the first attack(s) when normally she would follow his lead. Did she act out of place? Did their protector freeze? Hesitate? Fae would start to chew her lip in concern as she'd begin to take steps to check on Zeke when Ethan would return back to the room.
Ethan's enthusiasm for his next project would perk her up with genuine curiosity, especially when he would ask to inspect Zeke's wings. Still silent, Fae would tip-toe over to shadow him, hoping she might be able to help. She'd been guilty of wanting to inspect and touch Zeke's wings since the first time he flared them.
Fae would be a little surprised by Zeke finally breaking his silence with matching enthusiasm in his booming voice. With pink cheeks, she'd take a couple steps back when he would suggest Ethan to tinker at a later date.
Turning to Elra, Fae would finally crack a smile at the conversation about restoring Oghma's shrine coming forward. "Elra. Will you show me what you found?" She's had a hint of anxiety in her heart since she saw Elra and Zeke return with the brazier. "I would like to see it... And I'd like to assist with the restoration if I may."
The goblins tell the party "you can have the hobgoblin beds for the night." "Not sure when the Spider might come back, but he's been staying away longer and longer and is usually gone all night."
Yeemik looks at Arvel and says "terms?" "We helped you get your friend, we get the castle. You can leave the big guy though too, if you want. He'd be a good guard to have around." The goblin is a bit smug especially regarding the last part, and doesn't necessarily seem to actually expect Zeke to stay and serve him.
Elra looks at Arvel and Yeemik when Fae speaks up, "Huh, oh ya! It's really cool! Kinda dirty, but with enough elbow grease it should all come off. It could do with a good polishing too, but that can wait till we get to Phandalin. I want to go check on Gundren first, and try to get him to bed. First Gundren, then the brazier," she nods, then pauses, "err... maybe I'll show you to it first. Take Fae to the brazier, check on Gundren, then go back to clean the brazier." Elra leads Fae to where she had Zeke place the brazier.
Fae would smile from Elra's excitement and indecisiveness, "How about we do both?" She'll follow the cleric as she leads her through to the next area. As they approach the brazier she'll let out a little chuckle to herself. "Sorry Elra, I should have specified. I meant to ask to show me where you found this. The shrine." The scholar would still take a look at and around the brazier, remembering Elra cleaning it earlier. It does already look better than what she remembers from her dream.
"Hmm? Oh no, I wasn't planning on doing any modification work right now, I just wanted to gather some information for later."
Ethanlooks as Zeke's spread his wings,
"If you could hold them apart like that for a moment, I can take the measurement."
Ethanducks around under Zeke's wings and tries to hold his measuring device up, to get the distance of the gap between Zeke's wings.
"See, I have this idea to modify that armour we found earlier, so you can wear it, but still have your wings free."
"I was thinking of cutting the back panel so that there is a flap in the middle, hinged near the top, and some gap between it and the sides of the armour, so your wings fit to either side."
"So you would push the flap up and get into the armour, and then spread your wings aside and let the flap come down between them."
"Then the flap can be secured at the bottom to the rest of the armour using straps."
"I think it should allow you to get into and out of the armour in a reasonable time, and still have your wings free, and without compromising the protective qualities of the armour."
Ethantakes a quick measurement of the distance from the top of Zeke's wings, where they come out of his back, to the base of his neck.
Ethanrecords the measurements along with a simple diagram of the layout of Zeke's back.
Tarjalingers in bear form, feeling its strength and power. She gives a growl in the direction of the goblins before transforming back.
She would return to check on Gundren. Perhaps with some rest he'd be able to recover more; or, for the next day, she could try to prepare a spell to help him heal.
"The Royal Army of Leilon. They're nosing around after the dragon, something about a lost wagon. But you have no interest in that. And, of course, the Spider will be making his way back very soon. Good luck with the castle!"
Fae will follow Elra to the next area, where Oghma’s shrine had been desecrated. “Thank you Elra.” She’ll say softly, giving her a nod of thanks so that Elra could take her leave should she want to go back to Gundren.
While left in the room the scholar would do a sweep through the area, as if she were able to finally walk freely through her dreams. Opening her journal, Fae would compare if there was anything out of place here compared to what was shown to her in her mind. Oghma showed us this for a reason... was it simply just to find it? The wizard wasn’t so easily convinced. That’d be too simple? She’ll pace around the room as she pondered, running her fingers along the walls. Although not expecting anything, she’d feel as she went, in case she might stumble upon a secret area.
