As Fae watched Ethan try to open the Behir's jaw, there wasn't much she could offer to help physically, but she'd listen intently to his musings on how it produced it's lightning breath. Thinking about an organ inside the throat, the wizard would tilt her head back and start to feel beneath the back of her jawline and neck. Organs? "Something with or in the glands maybe?" She'd add to Ethan's thoughts.
As the artificer would move on to setting out his tools and wave her over, Fae would head over to take a gander. Some of them she was familiar with from working with Ethan before, but there were some new ones. So many to choose from! Not that she was surprised. The wizard would pat her nose as she did while she contemplating which tools to grab. She'd move to pluck some scales while Ethan worked on the horns.
When Zeke would open the Behir's mouth, Fae's eyes would flicker black. She'd see flash backs of the crackling breath building in the beasts mouth. Blinking back her vision, the divination wizard would shake her head and stare the ground to get her bearings. She'd glance back up to Zeke and the Behir to confirm she stood in the right sense of reality before she'd look to Ethan. Fae wondered if he'd like to do the honours, or rathered not. She'd wait to judge how the artificer would respond to wanting to take a look around inside the creature. He did seem quite keen on finding out how/what produced the lightning. If he'd rather not, Fae was maybe a little eager to crawl on in to get a closer look herself.
"Oh, um I didn't mean to take you from your current activity. If you want to head back to town, that's ok."
"Um, could you maybe help us open the mouth of the creature before you go?"
At Fae's suggestion of the glands, Ethan nods enthusiastically.
"Yes, exactly!"
"Not that it would do us much good, I think. While there are magics to maintain flesh once it has been removed from a creature, it is well outside of my area of expertise."
"Flesh magic like that wasn't a common subject at the university. I think there was only one professor who actually worked with, wet works, like that, and...well... he was kind of strange, so most students and even the other professors tended to leave him alone."
"But non-perishable body parts were often used in designs, drawing on the magical nature or resonance, of the creature they where taken from."
"Although, there was a lot of potion recipes that called for those kinds of body parts, now that I think of it, but again, not my area of interest really."
Fae would nod along as Ethan would break down some of his thoughts and experience on flesh and flesh magic. When he circled back to 'non-perishable body parts' and their uses, the scholars mind would break off into two different thought directions. He had reminded her of all the uses for the non-perishable items and flesh magic, but there was something else at the tip of her memory that was trying to come forward to add to those.
As the wizard would take a pause to think, she'd become aware of the adrenaline subsiding and her heart returning to a resting heart rate. "The heart." She'd blurt. "What about the heart as well?" The heart is a source of power and very symbolic in most rituals. Something to consider when they were looking at the perishable portions of the beast.
When Ethan would circle back to the thoughts on how the creature produced it's lightning, Fae would add some new thoughts that had come to mind through the artificer's musings out loud. "What if it's not necessarily just flesh?" She'd start her thought. "What if it were some sort of cartilage or bone that sparked or conducted the electricity?"
Tarja takes a look at the massive bulk of the dead behir, wondering what the remains could be used for. Perhaps the bones could be, eventually fashioned into armor? She offers to help with the harvesting. Perhaps the residents of Phandalin would find some use for the creature; would be a shame for it to go to waste.
To start, she casts Guidance on Zeke and offers to help him saw off the claws, using the tools Ethan has helpfully provided.

"Oh. Uh. Sure. I'll do my best." Fae would take the saw offered. Reflecting back on her knowledge of Behir's and how they were harvested, she'd use that knowledge along with Tarja's guidance and Ethan's help, to work on the horns. She'd start from the notch Ethan began earlier.

Tarjacontinues circling the Behir, casting Guidance as the rest of the party harvest what they can. Dismantling the creature takes careful work and time. When enough of the bones are exposed, Tarja asks Ethan to give her a hand to try to carve them into manageable pieces. Such things could be useful materials - perhaps a behir-bone shack in the woods, or maybe Behir-bone armor? She'd have to figure it out later, but for now, just getting them into manageable chunks would have to do.

Fae would smile softly in relief from successfully harvesting the horns of the Behir with Ethan’s help. She’d make sure to return the tools she used to the artificer’s pile before stepping back to observe Tarja and Ethan work together on their tasks.
The wizard would accept the knife handed to her by Ethan. With an affirmative nod, she’d move in to gently and meticulously cut away the hide with him as Zeke pulled.
When it did come time for them to complete the extraction of teeth, Fae would move in close, rocking up on her tip toes to point out and help Zeke identify the best teeth to pull.

Zeke strips off his armor and dives in, helping the wizard and the artificer dismantle the beast. Planting his feet, he uses his hatchet and a dagger borrowed from Fae to work loose the creature's teeth and claws.
Fae stood attentively, accepting the teeth as Zeke harvested them. As he’d hand her the last tooth, a little cracked from the tiefling’s natural strength, she’d linger for a moment. She’d look up to him, “You were amazing with those little ones Zeke.” She’d say softly with a warm smile. He was so tender, gentle and understanding with them. It was honestly a beautiful moment that most likely had a profound impact on them. And she just wanted to recognized him and the good that came with it. “Would you like to check on them once more while we finish up?” The wizard would tilt her head slightly, encouraging him if he desired. They were very grateful for his assistance with the harvesting. With the same smile and her hands full with the bundle of teeth he collected, she’d offer him a nod of thanks for lending his time and strength. Fae would hand them off to Ethan to store in his gauntlet when he comes around to collect.
"I'm sure Elra has brought them home safely, her faith is a shield strong enough to see them back to the village.' the barbarian would go about cleaning up the tools and strapping his armor back on as he feigned indifference about the fate of the children. 'But perhaps we could peek in on them when we get back? To see if they need anything?'
It occurs to Zeke that the money in his pouch might do them some good as they rebuild their lives. He certainly has no use for it, couldn't even imagine needing more than what he already has - companions worthy of his protection, food in his belly and a blade in his hand.
Once he was fully armored up again, he'd turn to Fae, 'I'm glad you weren't harmed too badly in the fight with those creatures. The powers you and the others wield are incredible and I'm grateful to have you at my side when we face the darkness. I suspect that darkness will one day swallow me, but I can only hope to hold it at bay and keep it from harming those around me before it does.'
Elra leads the Dendrar family back up through the manor's basement to the ruins and open skies above. When they can see the town and know they will be safe, the mother breaks down and starts crying. Her children hug her and soon Elra has taken them back down to Phandalin. Before they can reach their small home in town the astonished locals gather to great them and make sure they are well.
When asked about other captives Elra is told with confidence that they saw no other prisoners but heard talk of capturing a specific family of dwarves if they are seen in the area.
Meanwhile Tarja and others discuss exploring the cold, dark chasm...
Fae would nod in immediate agreement with Zeke's confidence in Elra and her faith. They were in good hands. Her smile would tug further when he'd add checking in on them. "We absolutely can." She'd say assuredly, happy to accompany him if he'd like.
The wizard would take the moment to look back over the chasm, considering the options Tarja had presented them. She did have an idea to add to the mix that she's been keeping to herself. Perhaps now may be more practical. It was at this point where Zeke would turn to her again. Her violet eyes would trace his wings for a few moments.
Although a smile tugged at her cheeks at his first words, Fae's eyes softened by the end of his last. She'd glance down a moment to look herself over before looking back up to him. Thanks to Zeke, and everyone in the party, working so well together as they do, she had come out without a scratch. "Shadows threaten us, in all forms, shapes and sizes. My hope is that none of us will be consumed by them and fall into total darkness." She'd swallow her own words. Fae's next words came out as if she's heard and said them many times."A shadow can only be cast when there's a source of light. Sometimes we just have to face the right direction to see it. And reach for it." They were words of comfort told to her that allowed her embrace some darkness that shadowed her. After a moment, she'd nod once again. "I have faith there's light to fight the darkness when we work together."
"Shall we explore the darkness?" Fae would gesture to the dark chasm below with a hint of a smile.
As Fae watched Ethan try to open the Behir's jaw, there wasn't much she could offer to help physically, but she'd listen intently to his musings on how it produced it's lightning breath. Ethan looks at the large head of the Behir.
"Still, it would be interesting to see if we can work out how the creature produced the lightning."

After helping Fae with the horns and once Zeke and Tarja have finished removing the claws, Ethan assesses the eyes of the behir.
Looking over to Tarja, Ethan holds up one of his sharp leather working knives,
"Could you help me with this?"
"We are going to want to cut the alternating muscles at the same time, or the eye is going to roll in on its self."
Ethan gets to work with Tarja's help, trying to remove the eyes of the behir without ruining them.

Once the eyes and teeth of the behir have been taken care of, Ethan sets his attention on the hide.
"I think I'm going to need everyone's help for this one."
"Zeke, if you can apply tension to the hide as we cut it away, Tarja, Fae and I can go about cutting it loose."
Ethan hands a sharp knife to Fae and then starts to cut away the hide, giving a flap for Zeke to pull on.
"Don't pull too hard, just keep it tight and we will cut it loose."
Ethan starts to do just that, directing Fae and Tarja to assist in getting the hide loose evenly as the group progresses down the body of the beast.

Once the hide is clear and Tarja asks for help removing the bones from the flesh, Ethan nods enthusiastically.
"Sure, yeah, almost forgot about them."
Ethan joins Tarja in cutting the muscle away, exposing the bones beneath and then cutting the ligaments and tendons, to free the bones from the body.
"Nicely done. Its obvious you've done this sort of thing before."
Ethan looks impressed with Tarja's work.
Looking around at his friends, Ethan smiles.
"Well done everyone, great work."
