Elra turns white at the mention of the spiders eating everything else. Or at least the part of her face you can still see with her trying her hardest to hide it under her hood. "Ya," she quietly agrees, still not taking her eyes off the trees, "and I don't want to wind up a spider's dinner. I hope Vincent doesn't get caught up in here if he tries to find me..."
The sun is going down quickly now, so you only have minutes of any light at all left, and the woods are denser here, blocking out the light even further. Tarja knows that the Neverwinter Wood is massive, so there's not likely any end to the forest any time soon. Krikket and Edgar had reported a change in the terrain soon now with steep hills and rocky cliffs rapidly approaching, which is roughly referenced on Tarja's map from the goblin Yeemik. The familiars also are now concerned about flying between the group and the open sky as the treetops have grown close together and are littered with spider webs and the occasional movement. Tarja had estimated at least a couple more hours to their destination but the map is crude at best so the depicted cliffs could be closer.

"Wouldn't the light potentially keep them away, if it annoyed them? I'm more worried about them sneaking up on us unseen, then them being annoyed about the light."
Fae understood why Ethan would want more light, but she still felt like she wanted to respect the spiders space. "Maybe they're displaced? And they haven't harmed us yet... why provoke them?" The wizard would ponder out loud. She'd feel relieved hearing Arvel speak up the same thoughts she did earlier.
Fae would offer a little more light to help view the map and direct it at the ground ahead of their feet. She'd take a deep breath and even close her eyes for a moment. I have faith in respecting these spiders. And perhaps we have a little luck on our side... The wizard would reflect in on herself and her prayer at the shrine the other night. She'd her eyes again and look up to the canopy. She may not be able to see them... We mean no ill will.
The light is fading, and I suspect the spiders will grow bold with the darkness.
We can move stealthily and silently, and hope to find a safer place to rest at the cliffs before we are too tired to continue. I can try to keep us hidden as best I can.
Or we can light every bit of fire and light we have, and hope to keep the spiders scared away until we get to that safer spot. I can try to talk them into staying away, though that may be hard if they're hungry and if there are many.

"I'm not a very stealth person, even with these great new boots."
Ethan looks down and admires the silent function of his new boots.
"I also cant see in the dark, at all. I know the gnomes back on Lantan could see in the dark, and maybe some of you can too."
"But I really don't want to be completely blind, while trying not to get noticed by hungry giant spiders."
Ethan looks like he might be getting a little panicky.
"I sorry if this seems selfish, but I just cant do complete darkness and giant spiders, I'm sorry."
Ethan opens his gauntlet and pulls out a wooden torch. Using his pocket-watch-like device (Prestidigitation), Ethan cause the torch to burst into flame, giving him 20ft of bright light and another 20ft of dim light.
Ethan is looking in every direction, trying not to get caught by surprise, as the group continues on.
Seeing the party's choice to be threatening rather than stealthy, Tarja lights a torch and raises it high, and leads the way towards where the cliffs should be. (Perception: 6).
Let's hurry on, then, and find a place to stop while we still have strength. Light whatever light you can; I have more torches if needed.
Elra flinches at the idea of everything around them going up in flames. She lets go of one of the edges of her hood and reaches around until she feels her amulet and grips it tight, trying to find some comfort in holding it.
Wait, are the webs/trees actually dense enough that carrying a lighted torch through this forest risks setting them on fire? I feel if they're that dense, we wouldn't be able to walk through this place at all at night, I was imagining the webs/trees are still sparse enough that we can navigate this forest without having to get out knives and hack through it. How dense are the webs and the forest right now?

The tiefling and the dwarven druid huddle over the map as the darkness looms:
'We should try to push on to the cliffs at least - much easier to defend ourselves with a sturdy cliff face to our backs.'
Ethan twists his small light stone device, opening its iris and allowing its light to project in front of him.
Ethan turns to Fae,
"Fae you may want to allow your much brighter light to shine in every direction, maybe hold it up, so it gets better coverage."
"Any advanced warning we can get, that something is coming for us, from any direction, the better."
Ethan waits for Zeke and Tarja to finish assessing the map, before following along, as they group starts moving again.
"Are there cliffs ahead? Maybe we could get lucky and there may be a cave or something, to take shelter in."

"More light might annoy the spiders. Let's keep it to a minimum, yeah?"
Arvel glances upwards and gives a negligent wave of his hand. The charlatan then snaps his fingers next to his shoulder and Krikket appears.
"There. Now you can stop whinging about having to fly through the spider webs. Now fade away before they think you're a real bug."

At Arvel's words, Ethan looks up at the trees and webbing, seemingly considering setting everything on fire.
"Maybe we should set it all on fire..."

As the darkness sets in there is faint moonlight against which the party can see cliffs looming shortly ahead...
Can I get a Perception check from at least one of the two familiars that are scouting slightly above/ahead?
