"If I hadn't slipped up by mentioning the Spider at the start, I might have been able to strike a deal that would have Gundren standing here with us now. Instead, I spent the entire fight writhing on the ground poisoned."
He puts his hand in his pocket and touches the coin.
"Sorry to bring up spiders again, but do you know anything about their poison? I had some pretty weird hallucinations before you healed me."
"Um..."Elra thinks for a moment, "I know the poison causes paralysis. I'm not sure, but I don't think it causes hallucinations. Why? Did you see someone?"
"Right, The Lady,"Elra says. "The Archfey that doesnt like you talking about her. I can't imagine what it would be like having someone else in your head all the time.... no offense. I mean, um,"she blushes hard. "Sorry, I have a hard time stopping once I start talking."
"Just a thought,"Elra shrugs. "Maybe you caught a god's attention? Loremaster Altervast used to tell me that a lot of dreams the people at the House of Knowledge have are Oghma calling them to go somewhere."
"The gods are always watching us, making notes. You're the one who did something that made them want to talk to you. If it is true, that's really awesome. Oghma's blessed me with images and feelings, but he's never spoken to me directly."
Ethanlooks back and forth between Elraand Arvel, as they have a short discussion about communication with powerful extra planer beings.
"Hhmmm, maybe you're like a magnet Arvel, like for gods and stuff? You know, like the needles in compasses. They attract ferrous metals to themselves."
"Maybe your soul is like that."
Ethanseems to be a little distracted by the thought, before snapping out of it.
"Ah, um, well about where we should rest, I'm not seeing a lot of good choices."
"There isn't really anywhere to hide from view by the castle. And that Spider guy knows we were right here."
"We can try travelling further away, but there isn't much to hide or defend around, close by that I can see."
"We may have to settle for the the cliffs, or think about retreating further."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Tarja checks out the area around the cliffs in wolf form (perception 18)
(Assuming I don't see or smell anything that would make the cliffs a bad place for a short rest, I transform back to Dwarf form to talk)
It's not the greatest resting spot, but it should be good enough. There's a forest, cliffs, some trees. I've seen worse places. I'd be all for taking a quick stop to catch our breaths, grab some rations, and let our goblin friend over there rejoin us in the land of the living. Until we do, I worry we're in no shape to handle, well, much of anyone.
"Hmm," Elra thinks for a few minutes. "I can't do anything about luck, that's a job for acolytes of Tymora, but,"as they finally settle down to take their rest, Elra pulls her journal and pen out of her bag. She hands it to Arvel."Sometimes I have a hard time trying to decipher my own thoughts it helps me to write them down. I usually write them like letters, but you can do whatever. If you don't want me to see it you can just rip it out afterwords, just be careful to not rip out half the pages when you do!" She smiles, then yawns. "I'm going to take a nap now, I'm tired."
Fae would eventually make her way over to the others, hopefully with Zeke in tow. She’d catch a bit of the end of the conversation between the others. The wizard would glance down at her feet before looking up at the others. From the mentioning of Tymora, Fae would feel like sharing, “I said a prayer at the Shrine of Tymora last night... Now able to take a full step back from our situation, I feel as though we have been blessed with luck. Or at minimum, had someone on our side watching over us along with Oghma.“ She’d gesture to Elra, giving credit to the power of her faith. “Things could have gone much worse.” She will pan around, looking at each of her party members. “We are whole and I agree we have gained insight to the strength and ways of The Spider and live to tell the tale.” The wizard spoke softly. She could sympathize with the weight of responsibility that Arvel could be experiencing at this moment, but she in no way feels disappointed or upset with his decisions. Fae trusts him to make calculated decisions and thus why she shared the intel she received telepathically.
Taking a moment to truly assess her own state, it finally sinks in that she could of been one attack away from her own unconsciousness. She was reckless and power hungry, bent on countering The Spider and his minions... Almost losing herself to the darkness if it wasn’t for Elra’s light. Fae would take a look at her hands and flex them again, knowing she’s spent almost all of her magic reserves on the encounter. Any rest at this point is welcome, though she’s wary of rescuing Gundren without her full reserves.
Elra smiles and nods, seeming to not be fully awake. A few moments later she's softly snoring, as fast asleep you can be when you only have an hour to rest.
