Ethan tries to remember the last time he stunned himself badly during a failed construction back at the university.

Ethan half rolls his eyes up and lets his mouth hang open and drool starts to seep out of the corner.

He stumbles along behind Arvel and the others as the group enters the room.

Ethan keeps up the act, not pay much attention to anything going on.

"Mighty King Grol, I present to you the annoyances that have plagued our steps. Those who sought in vain to free Rockseeker. The killers...of Klarg! Come! Look upon them in their captivity!"

Grol suddenly looks a lot more interested in the visit from the Spider.  He quickly sits up, stands, and grabs his large mace.  The bugbear, adorned in loose yellow and red fabric and mismatched, spiked leather armor, towers several inches over even the tallest party member.  Waking from slumber behind Grol's throne is his pet displacer beast, who comes to join his master and sniffs at the air around the new arrivals.

King Grol's raspy voice  yells "YOU?  You puny humans killed King Grol's great warrior Klarg?"  He snarls.  "Klarg would squash you like a bug!"  He points his large mace at Zeke.  "Maybe this one can fight, at least.  Maybe King Grol will lock you in with his bear-owl so you can show Great King Grol how you defeat Klarg for to believe this!"

"Maybe we take rest and chain them up and take anything shiny while they are under magic."

Elra keeps staring ahead, not liking how close the beast was getting to them. "Don't panic, don't panic. Don't give anything away. It's fine, it's fine..." she keeps chanting in her head.

"Do not be so hasty, oh mighty one. These miscreants have many secrets. Some of them have already been divulged to me regarding our...your treasure."

The Spider looks suspiciously at Azzinax and the displacer beast.

"But those secrets are for a king's ears only."

(Well he fully believes you are the Spider, but give me a straight up Persuasion roll on getting at least Azzinax to leave.)

Persuasion: 11

Grol seems irritated by the Spider's insistence, but chooses to listen anyhow.  "MY PET CAN'T HEAR YOUR SECRETS?  Fine!  Priest, go."  He looks to his pet.  "You, go, go!"

Grol sits bag down as they leave, his mace across his lap.  "What about Great King Grol's treasure?  You said you were already going to get it to make see how great King Grol is!"

As soon as the party is alone with Grol,

"Azzinax and your pet have betrayed you. Go and lock them in the cage with the owlbear. Then relax and disarm yourself."

"Wai...WHAT?!!!  King Grol hates betrayal!  That is why he sent Klarg to watch the road, so he could not try to take King Grol's throne!"

Grol goes and rips the door open again and steps out into the hall.  He yells "AZZINAX!" "BRING MY PET!"

Azzinax appears around the corner a minute later with the displacer beast in tow.  "Yes, Great King.  Should we lock them up?"

"Come here, Azzinax."  Groll drops his mace and picks Azzinax up by the neck and starts walking toward the tower where Yeemik said the owlbear would be.

"WAIT, GREAT KING!!!  WHAT DID I DO?  I ONLY WISH TO SERVE THE GOBLINS AND THEIR GREAT KING!  NO, NO!"

Grol easily yanks off a wooden crossbar keeping the door closed and tosses Azzinax into the tower.  The goblin protests with a few more pleas of "NO! NO!" but is smart enough to go silent immediately once inside the tower.  All in quiet for a moment until suddenly the owlbear has been disturbed from it's slumber and the following loud sound is heard...

Meanwhile, King Grol tries to surprise the displacer beast and shove it into the tower as well.

With an initial surprise shove and then a strong kick to finish the job, Grol swiftly sends the otherwise impressive beast flying into the tower to join the chaos.  He slams the door and bars it again, saying "no one betrays Great King Grol" with satisfaction.  The loud sound akin to that of a predatory cat join the fray inside the tower and all signs point to quite the battle happening on the other side of the door.

"King Grol is going to go relax now."  The bugbear starts making his way down the hallway back to his room.

(give me a few minutes to resolve this unusual encounter in the tower...this is hilarious)

While faint, low thunder can be heard from the belly of the cat-like predator it is the owlbear that screams incessantly during the wild melee inside the tiny tower.  At first the cries are full of feral rage but soon shrieks of pain are added to the mix.  In all of 20 seconds the tower goes quiet but close observers can still hear the low rumble of a beast from within.

As Grol re-enters, Arvel taps Zeke and Ethan. 

Elra stares at the door with a mix of horror and disgust once Grol leaves, any thoughts of pretending to be anything out the window.

As Arvel taps Ethan on the shoulder, Ethan snap out of his "stupor" with a jerk, sucking up the drool at the corner of his mouth, a mild look of embarrassment on his face.

Ethan looks around, seeing Zeke getting ready to tangle with Grol, Ethan, quietly and slowly, pulls the releases to his bindings, but lets the rope hang loose over his wrists.

Ethan nods his readiness to the others, waiting for Zeke to take the first move.

As king Grol steps back into the room, Zeke takes a deep, practiced breath and focuses himself for the battle to come.  He shakes off his false bindings and draws his blade, shaking it out and swinging it in one swift practiced move.

Grol lazily drops his massive mace near the base of his chair and sits, tossing one leg up over an arm.  It is then when Zeke suddenly strikes, leaving a gash up Grol's left arm and through his shoulder.  "AAARRGHHHH WHAT IS THIS?  YOU WANT TO SHOW GREAT KING GROL THAT YOU CAN FIGHT, PUNY ONE?!"  He begins reaching for his mace on the floor.

(no mechanical action by Grol since he's surprised, reaching is just part of the narrative)
(feel free to start anywhere reasonable on the map below, I just threw people on there...I don't see any reason why anyone shouldn't be in range for just about any action)
(admittedly I was lazy and didn't create a new marker... Klarg's old brown marker is King Grol)

Tarja lunges at Grol with a bite attack: attack 15 damage 4 piercing damage, on a hit must make DC11 CON save or 7 poison damage (half on success).

Ethan shrugs off the ropes and moves into the room, behind Zeke, turning nobs and pushing buttons on his gauntlet.

With a flash, the disc of Ethan's Eldritch Canon pops-up out of its slot, and Ethan pulls it out and tosses it to the ground beside him.

The Canon takes form as the magic streams out of the disc, condensing into solid matter.

The Eldritch Canon turns its turret, taking aim at Grol, and letting off a vortex of force energy with a whine and a womp.
