 The woman carrying a round shield and a broken spear turns and faces back in the direction from which they came. She puts down the youngest child and screams at the youngest two children to catch up with the rest of the family. Eight kobolds stream out of the alley on the family’s heels and fan out around the woman, who looks determined to delay the creatures for as long as possible.

On my turn, I run over to the family, putting myself between them and the kobolds. I place a firm healing hand on the father’s butt cheek and with a light pat say, “get these kids outta here!” In my other hand I ready my handaxe.

On my turn, Yagsi casts Burning Hands (all creatures in a 15ft cone must beat a dex saving throw of 11) 

don’t know layout of enemies so please assume this is casted in the most optimal way to consume as many kobolds as possible 

That was my surprise attack. But since it failed I’m gonna go ahead and for my turn: a frustrated halfling slams on his drum for a second time 11

for damage of 3 to everything in a 10ft radius. And then swing out with my blade 12 for 8 damage!! To the nearest kobold
