Chronero - Single Player DnD

We are quite the team. I was not sure how things would go for me leaving my home, but you two have made my exile like a paradise. Come, let's gather our loot, collect my little sister and head home. We have much to celebrate, yes?

Lucia agrees, "Yeah! Since we don't have to worry about the gangs until we make our move, we have all the time we need to celebrate and set things up."

Grabbing the loot the party swims back to the room with the murky water and rejoins with Ingrid.

With the dungeon complete, what do you do now?

Let's head back to the city and collect our bounty.

It was the second day on the way back to town. While walking though the forest, the party hears heavy footsteps, as if a whole squad of troops are moving through the forest. It's getting louder and seems to be heading in their direction.

What do you do?

Tomoe will tell the group to be prepared to defend themselves but only defend, let who ever is out their show aggression first before cutting them to pieces.

They are met with a team of soldiers, 6 strong. They are equipped with light armor and armed with guns and Bastard Swords. They have the emblem of Korcaxal on their arm. There is a strange shadow obscuring their face. Their eyes glow red from behind the shade. The group aims their rifles at Tomoe and Co. The leader barks orders in a strange language. However after they repeat the words it appears to be an extremely old form of Common. Lucia translates, "You there! We are the 31st Division; Ghost Squad. We are requisitioning your equipment for the war effort. Surrender your gold, weapons and rations"

Tomoe asks Lucia, What war?

Lucia shrugs. There is no war and she has no idea what these guys are talking about.

Tomoe asks her to translate as she only just knows her homelands language and modern common. She introduces herself I am Tomoe Gozen, First daughter and heir of my Nobel house in Edo. We do not recognize your war nor your claim to our supplies. Leave us in peace and we shall not form any greavence with you and yours.

The commander stares Tomoe down before saying, "Your social standing is of no concern to us. Our requisition license is bestowed upon us by the great Emperor Aesop Gramm. We ask again that you surrender your gold, weapons and rations. We reserve the right to execute any who refuse."

:Lucia whispers, "Something's wrong. Aesop Gramm was the emperor during the start of the 3rd star. He's been dead for who knows how long."

Why can we never encounter someone normal. She replys to Lucia 

To the soldiers she says. You risk starting another war, what is your rank?

Lucia translates Tomoe's words to the soldiers. The commander says, "We do not risk starting a war. It is you who would risk a war with us. Our empire is one of the strongest military powers in all the known world. Your country has done nothing but cease all communications since the end of the last age. If you are who you say you are, I wonder how you managed to even come here with the heavy isolation policies of Edo. I am Doplh Rubiko, Officer rank of Iron Wing."

Tomoe whispers to Lucia What is the likelihood of us not having to fight them?

Lucia whispers, "I'm not sure. Maybe we can outrun them? I am getting the sinking suspicion that they might be ghosts or spirits of soldiers from when our kingdom was expanding all over the place. It's going to be a tough fight if we face them."

(We should be with our cart ,yes? I'm not sure if I specifies but I thought we had taken it on this adventure.)

Ghosts? How wonderful. How do we convince Ghosts to go away?

Lucia shakes her head. She is not sure how to get the ghosts to leave. "I'm not sure... maybe try passing as a Chronero Spy that is back from spying on Edo?"

My knowledge on this country may be a bit to limit and my accent, as attractive as it makes me, is impossible for me to hide. Perhaps you could give it a try?

Mystery will puck up these queues and subtlety cast Guidance on Lucia.

Lucia decides to give it a try. Lucia talks to them. Due to her studies and education she does understand Old Common but speaking it is a harder thing to do. Still she tries her very best to sound fluent and convincing. "Officer Rubiko, I am Lucia Fey. You have not heard of me because I was employed as a spy in Edo. This Tomoe Gozen is who she says she is. We've managed to smuggle her out of the country and into Edo. We have vital information regarding the state of Edo and their current military might that we are to deliver to Emperor Gramm. I am under strict orders to not report this information to anyone other than the Emperor himself. You are currently delaying vital information from reaching the Emperor. Please let us pass and do not delay us any longer."

Deception: 16 + Guidance: 4 = 20 (Wow. Lucia would have failed that if it wasn't for guidance. It was an extremely high DC)

The officer stares at Lucia and thinks very carefully. Then she says, "Alright, Ms. Fey. Though I suggest you put on more proper clothing before you reach them emperor. Such clothing is very indecent." He turns to his men, "Ghost Squad! Move!" The slink back into the forest and simply disappears before your very eyes.

The cart continues forward and Lucia lets out a sigh of relief and reclines back. "That was a close one."

You have been rewarded with 1000 XP towards Legendary Gift.

After the ghost soldiers disappear, Tomoe proudly congratulates her girlfriend. Have I told you lately how absolutely amazing you are? 

Mystery doesn't tell anyone she magicly aided Lucia.

Kate, who isn't as well-learned as Lucia and also had a hard time keeping up with the conversation asked, "Don't get me wrong, I'm really glad Lucia got us out of there without a fight, could we have won a fight if it came down to it? We did slay a Deep Demon after all. Are Ghost Soldiers from way back when really that much worse?" Slaying the Drowning Vine, has given Kate a boost in confidence.
