“Trust me, there are always ways to use slaves. If the master says jump, you do it. We just need a reasonable job in the area we are headed they would require a lot of slaves. Digging out a new passage, clearing rubble, harvesting something, it doesn’t really matter. One or two guards go with us who are clearly outnumbered.”
Daner considers his role in the upcoming events.“I may not have any magic available to me but get a weapon in my hand and those that shrug off the spell won’t shrug off my blade.”
At Tempest's words, Darion falls quiet for a moment or two, remembering his decision earlier to not let division come between them if they were to have a hope of escape. He nods emphatically in agreement at Daner's words then rouses himself. Dwelling on doubts and maybes would steal their time for action away.
"We of course will need to check on the other prisoner's condition; what we find may well change our strategy in terms of trying to get us all out. Mind you, if we are going to try and bluff our way out, we could always try and just leave through the main entrance. A work party to collect vital supplies from outside perhaps?"
He glances at Daner "Until we can get you a proper weapon, was their anything you have seen in this room you could use as an impromptu weapon?"
He turns to Ellis, concerned. Of all of them, Ellis appeared to be struggling the most, not just physically but in his mind to "How are you holding up, you've had the roughest day of all of us? I think when they time for action comes, we could benefit from some more of those uplifting songs of yours" Darion isn't that great at pep-talks, but he gives Ellis his most encouraging smile.
"So, Tempest, do you want to start getting this grate off - that's step one!"
Darion will follow Tempest's lead for this, and do anything that Tempest requires to help get the grate off.
"Not in here." Daner glances around at the water and muck. "But I did stack a few large bones in the stables that I could use as a club if I needed to."
Daner looks over at Tempest. "Anything I can do to help you out?"

"The main unknown thing about going out the front gate is how many guards and yuan-ti will be outside versus the relatively few if we stay inside and use the river. When we were being escorted to our jobs we saw many passing bodies. I'm fine with either option but I think it will be easier to slip away unnoticed through the river. Either way, I agree we get started on the grate." Tempest says before standing up feeling somewhat rested and renewed ready for whatever path they go down.
Tempest will begin making the pedestals of ice to stand on then hold up the cloth rope in front of Darion and Daner and say, "If you can make sure this stays wet I can move enough water to get the grate started. Then it'll take some strength to slide off." Tempest replies as he slowly directs the flow of water up the cloth rope. You watch as water begins to swirl towards the bottom of the clot rope and completely saturate the clothing slowly moving upward. As Daner and Darion hold the cloth rope aloft they feel the water flowing across their hands as if they were placed in a slow flowing stream. Tempest moves enough water to the top of the pits to have a large puddle then he'll begin to freeze a pseudo slush ramp for the grate to slide down that will reduce sound as well as freeze ice columns beneath the grate to lift it up slightly. When he feels he has sufficient water and ice he'll take a quick look around to make sure no guards are coming into the room and step down. "Alright Daner, you look to be the strongest of us. The grate should be pretty easy to slide but it's still heavy."
Ellis had listened to Darion, surprised to hear that he also knows the Sleep spell too. "I-I also know that spell too, for putting people to sleep. I also have a spell where I can calm the emotions of a group of people too." he had said back, agreeing with him about Liss'ard being hard to put to sleep without hurting him some first. He listened to the others, Tempest talking about how he could transform into something large and have him ride on his back if they need to move quickly in a worst case scenario. Ellis knew that he was the weakest link, slowing the others down since he can't move as fast with this broken ankle. He would like to save the other slaves too, knowing that they are worse off and would want freedom too but not having magic or a way to fight back like him, Tempest, Darion, and Daner do. Then he had heard Darion ask how he was holding up and that when the time comes, they could benefit from his songs, surprised and smiling back a bit. "I'm alright, physically I am feeling a bit better now thanks to the healing and the splint that should help with my ankle. Really? I guess I can do that then, thank you." Ellis had said back to him with a nod, listening to Tempest. Soon he watched as Tempest, Darion, and Daner were working together to get a puddle of water up above and ice to help with sliding the grate off.
Tempest peeks his head up to see that there are no guards present in the prisoner pit room, nor are any of the guards peeking into the room through the portcullis. Tempest hears Liss’ard and his compadre loudly going on about the dice game. It would be a tall order to be able to do this without making any noise, but perhaps it could be done quietly enough to not warrant a look into the pit.
We’ll want an athletics check with advantage (thanks ice) to move the lid to the side far enough to be able for someone to slip out. We’ll also want a stealth or sleight of hand check with advantage (thanks ice) to be able to complete the action quietly. Both will need to be rolled by the same person. If anyone thinks up of a clever way to assist the DC could be brought down a notch or two. I am assuming you to be creating the opening on the south west side of the circular pit; the most out of view from the portcullis entrance. Essentially, a thick stone wall is all that separates you from Liss’ard.
Darion feels that strength is not really his thing. He doesn't have any particularly useful ideas to help whoever is moving the grate, however in time-honoured fashion he will watch them while whispering helpful advice like "try and be a little quieter! A bit to the left! No, my left! MY LEFT! Sorry, I meant my right" and things like that!
Daner climbs on top of the slab of ice and reaches up to grasp the bars of the grate above him. He takes the weight on his arms and makes sure that he is securely set upon his perch. With a barely audible grunt, he pushes up to try and move the grate.

OOC: I guess it doesn't move, but at least I was quiet about it. Can I take a moment to breathe and give it another try?
Everyone watches Daner with bated breath, their stomachs sinking into their guts as they wait to hear a hideous grinding noise as the rusty iron scrapes across the floor. However, to their enormous relief, they hear no such noise.
Daner, with intense focus and a sweaty brow, deftly forces the lid of the grate aside so as to not generate much noise at all, and it glides nearly perfectly along the slicked-up floor. The chain connecting the grate to the pulley on the ceiling clinks discreetly as it is slightly repositioned. Now, a small breach is made- enough for one person to crawl through at a time. Anyone who emerges would need to largely hug the wall to remain out of sight should any guard decide to get up and look into the room.

(Yaaaaas!)
Tempest will use the frozen cloth rope as a guide, propping it against the wall and pedestal freezing it in place on both ends and moving a bit more water along it to create spokes on either side to be used as a pseudo ladder. He'll then carefully and quietly climb out of the opening and hug the wall looking out for any sign of the guards. If there is none he'll peek his head back over and give the rest a thumbs up to come up.

Darion lets out his breath that he had been holding tensely. A grin cracks over his face as the gap appears. Fed up of being caged, and eager to finally actively be able to do something, he turns to the others.
"Let's get ourselves out, then set up for a little ambush!" he whispers.
He will start to climb out, moving as subtly and unobtrusively as possible, aiming to get against the wall and leave room for the others to get out. He will listen out for Liss'ard and the other guard, trying to tell if they heard anything.

OOC - I don't know what happened with the above post, I went to edit to add the luck point in, then it put the 'manipulated dice roll' warning. I went to edit again to add a comment about that, and when I re-posted the rolls actually had changed?!? First stealth is still rubbish, Luck roll was higher as I think perception was. No idea what I did wrong. Do you want me to re-roll luck point? Sorry about this.
