Darion takes a moment to peer into the darkness in the dinosaur room and he finds two glassy eyes peers back at him. Darion’s eyes suddenly begin to shoot through with pain and he develops a sudden splitting headache. He is overcome with the urge to look away but it is as if his neck is stiffening like stone. Make a DEX or CON saving throw to fight to turn your face and eyes away.
Rather than look away, be it out of fear or curiosity, Darion peers deeper into the set of eyes that stares back at him. Darion’s compatriots see him suddenly jerk to a stop as he fixes his gaze upon something in the darkness.
Darion’s toes start to go numb, and then his feet. Stiff as a board he finally averts his gaze to look down at his fingers which had turned the color of stone. With a groan and what could have been a last gasp, Darion falls forward, sweating and breathing heavily; the taste of rocks in his mouth. He knew that he had barely avoided petrification. A basilisk, surely. He recalled a saying about curiosity...
You return to your group of fellow imprisoned in the altar room, where they look tired and afraid, but their countenances brighten when they see you return, fully armed. (Who would you like to give the scimitar to?)
The next duty would be to ratchet up the portcullis and enter the prisoner pits where you would stand before the teleporter pad. Darion figures that he could get the four of you through without the need to make another check, but if it were a mass exodus of all prisoners at once, that would be another issue. It should only take about 12 seconds to complete the incantation to trigger the teleporter to activate for a group teleport of 4 people.
Snake Arms gives you a knowing nod. He is a devotee of Fenthaza and he now makes no attempt to rescue Liss’ard and Slizzy from the pit now that he recognizes the plan.
Daner walks up to Kanush and hands them the scimitar. “Thanks for your help earlier. We will probably need it again.”
Daner looks around at the group. “We are going to need to split up I think it’s goi g to take a couple of trips to get us all through. I think 3 of us go through with one of the others, Kanush can bring some through and Tempest, you bring through the last of them. How does that sound? We just need to make sure we all end up in the same place.”
Ellis followed the others back to the altar room, thankful to now at least be a little more helpful with having a weapon to use. He then saw Darion look into the dinosaur, now at a stop as he keeps staring, a little worried. "Darion, are you okay?" he asked before now seeing him fall forward, sweating and breathing heavily. Darion just said something about how it's good that they didn't try and release that thing, confused. Ellis could only guess that the thing just tried to do something to Darion, thankful that he managed to survive it. Then he listened to Daner's idea, thinking and nodding back. "Yes, that sounds fine." he then said back, nodding in agreement to the plan.
Darion thanks Ellis for his concern, giving him a slight smile "I think there is a saying about curiosity..."
Darion nods at Daner's plan. "I think this is all or nothing now. It will be extremely dangerous for everyone taking on Slithotep - but even more dangerous to leave anyone here. Since I still look like Liss'ard, shall I go through first, then come back? We have a couple of options for destinations so do we want to see which one works first? Or shall will all try the same one together at the same time - though if we get it wrong we will all have to teleport again!"
"I think it's better we all stick together. It may be slower, but the first time your disguise doesn't fool someone, you may not be coming back at all."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Darion nods, "Yes, Tymora is a... fickle patron"
He bends down over the teleportation device. He will choose a sequence at random (not the brothel!!!) then activate it, showing the others how to do it. When it is active, he turns to the others "Right, let's see where luck takes us". He gestures to the other wizard Lormar to stay put "You may be needed to work this thing out if I get it wrong - I'd suggest going in the last group with Tempest." Darion then points at the Firenewt "Why not join us for the first trip?" In truth, Darion is curious about this creature, and despite the extreme danger they are in is dying (hopefully not literally) to observe at close hand and ask questions! He checks that Tahvo is due to go in the middle group, wanting the boy to be as protected as possible, and neither first nor last.
Darion will then usher the first party through the teleportation circle (him, Daner, Ellis and the Firenewt Gorvax?)
OOC: Not sure what you want me to roll for the chance, but if in doubt rolling a d6 is always fun: 4
Daner steps up beside Darion as he uses the teleportation device. The groups seemed about right. Hopefully this went as planned and they dont end up in 3 different locations. That would make things a little tough. Daner tries to figure oout how he is supposed to act on the other side, but realising that he is now fully equipped again, he can't exactly play the slave. The best deception he might be able to pull off would be a servant or companion to Lissárd, but even that would be a stretch. He decided that the best bet would simply to be battle ready, so he held his greataxe at the ready.
(Sweeeet. I forgot you got the sequence to the brothel, so I guess that improves your chances. So you are attempting to take the entire prisoner revolt right into Slithotep’s chambers, right?)
Gorvax cannot reply in common, but he shows he understands as he slams his fist into the palm of his other hand and gives an eager nod as smoke puffs out of his nostrils. Lormar gladly receives the opportunity to not be first and confirms he can operate the device. Tahvo is obviously terrified. He nods along in agreement with the plan and he continually whispers his prayers to Tymora.
The first group steps upon the teleportation pad and Darion begins to trace the sigils in the air; calibrating it to eliminate the possibility of arriving in the harem, at least. Then a bright flash and, poof, nothing but a puff of smoke is now seen by those staying behind.
((Probably too much to type on this next part from my phone! Will try to get it posted when I get to a computer later! Thanks for sticking with it guys!)
The forward group poofs through time-space into a new room. Shadows dance over this opulent bedchamber. Cushions lie in one corner, and decorative shields line the walls. Treasures are heaped around the room: gold and silver coins; a gilded harp; a jeweled wine flask; pillows of silk; and fine clothes draped over wooden mannequins. To the east, where you now stand, an engraved stone disk is set into the floor of an alcove. To the west, a rectangular steel plate mounted on the wall is polished to a mirror-like sheen. To the north, massive silk cushions and fine silken sheets form a bed where an enormous serpentine figure is coiled. The creature gives a start as the bright flash of the teleportation circle fills the room.
Immediately the figure springs upward and lumbers forward a few paces with wrath in its gestures. Slithotep is covered in moldered, flaking scales and cataracts cause his eyes to appear mostly white. His massive serpentine lower half is coiled, ready to spring with an old but overwhelming strength, and his upper torso, also covered in scales but humanoid, is broad as an ogre's. He looks at Darion, disguised as Liss'ard, bristling with anger, "WHAT is the meaning of thisssss? You DARE enter my chamber? No doubt you thought you would arrive in my harem!" At this, Slithotep grabs a humongous scimitar which was laying next to his bed and raises it menacingly.
He looks at the others, "and what are these, worms; bloodmeal.... doing in my chamber!? I prefer not to have my fineries doused in their blood!"
Daner, seeing how enraged the Yuan-ti is at there mere appearance, realises that there will be no chance to reason with it. From it's initial actions, it was ready to kill Liss'ard for simply coming into its chambers.
Daner doges to the left (west, toward the steel mirror and immediately attacks the creature. He has little doubt that Darion does not want to be struck by the scimitar.
Daner swings with his great axe, desperately trying to strike the creature, his momentum immediately propels him into a second swing (action surge)
Well that went well!

(shew! 13 was the number you had to get!)
:O
Darion looks around sheepishly at the others "Well, perhaps it's a good job we didn't try and release that thing!"
He will then hopefully return to Fenthasa without problem, and do his best to pretend the whole incident never occurred!
