Tempest will quickly usher the other prisoners to the canoes and stand guard with Daner. He'll wait for all the others to hop in before joining them. If Daner protests he'll say to him, "Go I still have two transformations and can freeze my way out."
Sure enough, as your company is loading themselves into the boats, the double doors open. Inward strides a tall, muscular bipedal snake-headed Yuan-ti covered in sleek highly groomed black scales who wears two bejeweled scimitars at his waist; he carries what appears to be a Yuan-ti body on his shoulder. He is flanked by two haggard-looking Yuan-ti purebloods who bear obvious signs of battle.
First without looking into the throne room the black-scaled Yaun-ti begins talking, "It isss I, your humble Sekelok. Sssssire, it is jusssst as you sssaid, there's a full-blown mutiny afoot, led by that traitoroussss Fenthaza. The temple is in chaos! I am glad you have emerged unharmed." He throws the corpse onto the floor before him- you recognize it as Snake Arms-- before looking up and says, "we could not overcome her, but with your help we will ssssslaughter the rest of her faithless ones like this o----" he cuts off. He looks up and sees you and your cohort, and his mouth hangs agape. "What is this!? What have you done!?"
At this point, we will say half of the group has boarded the boats, but the others are struggling to find space without tipping the boats over. Kanush, the wizard, the tabaxi, and the goblin stand flat footed on the shore and have not yet boarded the boats. The water is murky, but still fresh compared to the stagnant cell-water from before. After about 15 feet the low ceiling of the cave opens up and an underground river opens before you. Stalactites hang low over its surface, and dripping water echoes in the dark. It is dark and difficult to tell how far the river runs, but you can tell from the echos that it is a large expanse. Each of the three canoes features a small bell at the bow of the boat.
Ellis watched as Daner and Tempest didn't get in the boat, standing their ground as Tempest said that they could catch up by freezing their way out. So he would notice half the group not getting in the boats yet, encouraging them to get in and helping if need be before hearing the doors open as more Yuan-ti appeared. One spoke, not yet realizing the truth until just now and yelling at them. "Come on, everyone in the canoes! Hurry!" Ellis said as he would use the Help action to quickly help with getting everyone else in the canoes first.
Darion hears Sekelok speak and looks up, weariness banished by another wave of fear. It takes him a moment to collect himself, then calls out to Sekelok "Wait! Think this through Sekelok! You have seen some of the carnage we have caused, and we outnumber you. With your skill and power perhaps you and your followers can beat us, perhaps not. But whichever way you will be injured, weakened and vulnerable. How long do you think you will survive Fenthasa then? She wants your head as much as your master's. We were offered a choice of targets by Fenthasa - you or Slithotep. She has even conspired with your alchemist to develop a poison that can kill Yuan-ti so great is her treachery. Why waste your energy fighting the weapon" Darion gestures at the group of prisoners "when you should be focusing on the one who wields it! Do you and your followers want to die? Or live and rule?"
With that Darion will steel himself for whatever happens next.
Tempest will look at the group and whisper, "Go! I'll hold them off as long as I can."
(Don't know I'll you'll allow it but if so, Retcon: While the first half was loading Tempest would use Shape Water to freeze an area roughly 3 inches from either side of the canoes to aid in keeping them stable and allow for more area to board. The canoes would still be floating but would keep them from completely tipping over.)
((That actually gave me a good chuckle, hah! If I were Sekelok I might be convinced... but evidently I am not))
Sekelok is incensed at Darion’s bargaining. “Sssspoken like a true pawn of Fenthaza! I will sssstop you now before you carry out the next park of your blasphemous plan!”
He looks to his left and then his right and barks orders. “Sliptongue, go gather help, quickly! Zurd, with me, stop them!”
Sekelok and Zurd both move 30 feet towards the party, stopping 30 feet shy of the canoes and 25 feet shy of Daner and Tempest. Their eyes glow a mesmerizing purple and their heads bob back and forth in a hypnotizing unison. Sekelok targets Tahvo the boy and Zurd targets Darion with the Suggest spell.
”Come towardssss us, away from your misled friendssss... they only want to sssssee you be eaten!”
Darion and the boy make WIS saves! Tahvo has a 0 modifier.
The increased stability thanks to the ice, and Ellis’ helping quickly expedites the loading of the canoes. At the start of the player’s turn, all but the goblin and Kanush have taken a seat in a canoe, and nobody has tipped out despite the frantic jostling- even some prisoners trying to elbow others for position.
Tempest will say, "I'll oblige you." and use wildshape to transform into a Brown Bear and charge towards them lashing out at Zurd with his sharp claws and follow up with a bite. If the claw attack kills Zurd, Tempest will turn and bite Sekelok.

Darion Wis Save: 20
Tahvo: 18
If Darion passes, he will urge the remaining prisoners to get on the boat, and cast Create Bonfire at Zurd (or Sekelok if Zurd dead): damage 6
If he passes but Tahvo doesn't he will try and grab Tahvo to stop him moving, whispering "Do not listen! It is a magical enchantment on you" grapple: 15
If he fails, he yells angrily at the world "What stupidity is this! I'm not going to get myself eaten because of your silly games" and will get out of the boat and move towards the Yuan-ti
Ellis will encourage Kanush and the goblin to get in the canoes, glad as others have gotten in. "Come on, get in the canoes you two!" he would say before seeing the two Yuan-ti and could tell what they were doing, worried for Darion and Tahvo. "Don't listen to them guys!" he would say before turning around. "Leave him alone! Pick on someone your own size!" Ellis would yell at Sekelok as he cast Vicious Mockery at him.

Tymora smiles upon her chosen as Darion and Tahvo shake off the enchantment and remain in their seats on the canoe.
First Tempest charges upon Zurd tearing into him with his bear claws, scales go flying. However, the followig bite does not connect. Immediately following Daner cuts into Zurd with his new weapon. It is a glancing blow- perhaps Daner is thrown off by the unfamiliar weight of the new weapon, but even such a minor hit deals damage. The unfortunate Yuan-ti then attempts to save against the barrage of cantrips: DEX- 4 WIS- 21 .
Sekelok first uses his movement to skirt around Tempest's flank, opposite of Daner, and then places himself opposite of Zurd, between Tempest and the canoes. Sekelok unsheathes his glittering scimitars in a fluid motion and attempts to plunge them deep into the great bear flesh before him. Attack 1: Attack: 19 Damage: 4 Attack 2: Attack: 18 Damage: 8.
Zurd starts to burn, but he can't move or take opportunity attacks, so he uses the disengage action and moves 30 feet back towards the door, where he started. He shambles away hissing, clutching his wounds, nearly falling to the ground.

Darion climbs into one of the boats, sitting by the young lad, offering words of encouragement. He nods to the others when they are ready to move.

Daner quickly assesses the situation to see if there will be enough room for everyone on the canoes.
There will be enough room, but the canoes will be packed to capacity with little to no room to maneuver.
