(Exactly how I assumed it would go, not exactly how Endurance assumed it would go. But hey, at least we now have a sense of how deep it is and at least I am sinking from heavy armour and not by giant zombie squid)
Glory swims over to Endurance but she is unable to lift him out of the water. Grappling Endurance she casts Misty Step which takes both tieflings to shore. This experience has made it clear that even though there wasn't any monster that attacked you, the river is too big to swim across. You'll have to find some other way.
The wolf pup barks happily when the two of you come back to dry... er land.
Yuldra casts Prestidigitation to warm up whatever under-garments Glory's wearing, to assist with drying.
"I can admit when I was wrong. That was more fun than watching the pup."
She checks her rations, and if she has anything that's suitably meaty or doggy-biccie-ish looking, she takes a few steps towards the pup and leaves some on the ground for it, then steps back. Both to see if it comes for schnuggles and food, and to see if it will come close to the slightly unsettling riverbank
(I know that but I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to bring one person with you if you grapple them. I'm ruling Misty Step can be used this way)
Summoning a small dagger into one hand, pressed out of sight against her leg, Yuldra offers a little more food from her other, sing songing "it's just in case, yes it is, but you're such a good boy I won't need it will I schnuckums?"
That devalues thunderstep somewhat but as a misty step user I don't give a ****!
"Don't waste too much of your food on it, we dont know how much we will come across, and he..." Endurance stops to check the wolfs gender "(insert correct pronoun) will eat raw food and parts we won't eat. We will make sure it gets food but if someone doesn't get food, the pup isn't the one who will be fighting and need the energy"
"Don't presume to use magic on me like that, I'm just as capable as you." says Glory, using prestidigitation to finish arranging her hair and such before donning her armor.

Endurance uses mage hand to pet Yuldra, while talking to the pup "O well done pup, you found us a mascot. She doesn't look like she can look after herself well so you can protect her."
Varis looks over at Glory: We'll call that a draw, shall we? He leans down and looks at the wolf pup. Kind of scrawny...won't be much good for food unless we can fatten it up some. Glad you'll be the one taking care of the thing he smiles at Yuldra. I'm not one for pets. I daresay we still need to get across this river...and the lady's idea seems much better than the two of you could come up with.

"This is practical. The puppy's alive and uninfected. So it's either incredibly lucky or knows something we don't - either way, a resource we would do well to acquire."
She dismisses her dagger, summoning a long, fine whip, tying the end of it into a non-slip loop around the pup's neck to secure it without choking. She pauses a moment for the inevitable sting of Best Engarde's bite, but it seems he's not overly concerned by her constant demands for more and more exotic weaponry of late. Interesting.
"So we were headed north west, the river runs southwards, we'll need to follow it north and look for a crossing point or come to this smaller road leading to the Cathedral. Unless the river *is* the smaller road leading to the cathedral, I mean he ended up a ships captain, maybe he just really like bodies of water. And was shit at drawing maps?" - aside to Endurance - "you *will* I hope keep your despair in check if we're staying close to the water. I'm not sure how many more rescues your friend has left in her..."
After walking for some time, the "forest" starts to get noticeably thicker. You also notice some trees that are alive but just barely. These trees are even more infected by the moss than the dead ones. It seems that the moss is keeping these trees alive for whatever reason. You come to the border where one can officially say that the thick forest begins. To the east, you can see a faint light. The light is very dim and weak. If the captain's map is to be believed, to the east lies a grassland where the road splits off to Slalutz on the east and Swamp Gorgoth to the West. However, the fact you have encountered a river that wasn't on the map and a missing road calls into question the credibility of the map. Regardless it's the only map you have.
The puppy is following you by the way. It barks from time to time.
What do you do?

The pup goes over to the food bits and eats it.
(Hate to be the bearer of bad news for Endurance, but Misty step is one person)
