Queen Enalie nods, you could almost see her wince slightly at the mention of remembering her mother's death,"Very well, we will make sure that you will be able to join us in questioning the assassin. We will also try to see what valuable information we can collect for you. However, it is getting very late, and this should wait till the morning. I think we should all get some decent rest and reconvene at the castle's dungeon tomorrow. If that is suitable for you then I should take my leave before anyone outside these doors starts getting too suspicious."
”A sensible plan. One last thing before you go, if I may. Who is your other... escort?” Gesturing toward the lady who had remained silent during the exchange.
The lady in question, who had spent the entire time standing completely silent by the doorway, looked to the Queen then to Konor awaiting a nod before answering with a familiar voice,"My name is Anastasia, a Captain in the Royal Guard. We've met before Lady Moira."
Moira’s mind races as she tries to place the face and voice. Moira’s face reddened as she recognizes the guard. “Of course. You’ll have to excuse me I was quite destructed earlier and did not take time to learn you face or name. It is quite nice to meet you again.”
Nemeia relaxes as the two parties seem to agree on further plans of action. All Nemeia wanted to do was solve this mystery to bring some sense of closure to the issue and get back to her studies. It did feel good to be in the Queen's graces and not worrying about an additional threat to their lives for the moment. She agreed that the Duke's companion was the most likely suspect and looked forward to learning more of this strange traveler.
The guard captain didn't say anything, she just offered Moira a polite smile and nodded her head.
"Now with that out of the way, we should take our leave. Come to the service entrance of the Castle tomorrow once you are able. Until then, we must bid you all good night."Enalie bowed to the group and began making her way out of the room. Anastasia followed quickly behind her. Konor also made his way out, though it was a much more laborious affair as he struggled to make his way through the room and the doorway that was much smaller then would be comfortable for his massive frame. Soon all three would make their way out of the inn as they carefully made their way back to the Castle under cover of what little darkness remained before dawn.
"That was amazing,"Nemeia says when the room was clear. "I can't believe we just had a secret meeting with the Queen! I can't wait to tell my father about this."
Well, says Witt. They seemed nice. He stands at the window of the room and watches the departing figures until they are no longer visible.
He turns to the assembled party. I feel like... it's only a few days ago we decided to adventure together, and now we're investigating the fate of monarchs and doings of wicked nobles. It's... a little scary. I know that some of you are more familiar with this kind of danger in your lives, but I am not. Could we maybe all sleep on this and then meet up tomorrow morning?
He looks over as Nemeia speaks. It was exciting, yes. I think my parents would laugh at the thought of me meeting a queen. It's... rather an odd combination,he grins and looks a little less worried, though still tired.
After she's sure they've completely left the room, Sora stretches out her arms and neck for some time before giving a quick yawn, "Yeah that went better then I expected. Part of me is surprised we didn't end up in the dungeon. Which, I'm not gonna lie, I was kinda already planning for. Anyway, I agree with Witt, it's getting really late. We should all get some sleep and pick this up in the morning."
9 nods absentmindedly and heads upstairs for her usual 4-hour meditation, after which she grabs a cup of tea from an inn and heads into the temple of the Lady to meditate there for another 3 hours. She doesn’t pray, just thanks her for the visions and meditates on the day and the pure character of Linthe, trying to understand her. When she comes back to the Unicorn pl she sits behind a table and sketches Linthe for the remainder of the time in which others would awake.
Exiting with the others and heading up to the suite Moira is unusually subdued. Not talking much and just getting ready for bead and going to sleep. She does take some time before and after bed to sit and read over her spell book. Hoping to find new spells had once again suddenly appeared.
Kal does his meditations in private and makes his way downstairs around the same time as 9. Given the recent turn of events and the stakes at risk, he waits a moment after she leaves then follows her to the temple. Being adept as at sneaking he is able to find a quiet corner of the temple and watch without disturbing her or being disturbed himself.
The swordsman is relieved that she doesn't go looking for trouble by herself, and a little part of him is relieved she doesn't do anything suspicious like talk to wayward individuals. He waits several minutes after she has returned to the inn before entering himself. Kal sits at a nearby table and shares the quiet of the morning with her. While she sketches he goes through is routine of checking, cleaning and maintaining his equipment.
Eventually everyone made their way to their respective beds for a night's rest. Soon the morning came and a bright clear sky sun along with it.
Everyone gets their Long Rest.
As you all make your ways downstairs you can't help but noticed Gus's absence. However his crew of servants are there ready to provide for everyone's needs. The day looms before you, what will Summer's Treason do next?
Khorzik wakes the next morning and breakfasts on hardtack and ale. He remain utterly confused about yesterday's events. It seems unlikely that the life of the princess could be worth 3 counts of trespassing. Either her life is valued very poorly, or trespassing carries and a much more egregious penalty than the princess' reaction to Sora indicated. He addresses the others when they are assembled.
"It seems that my comments angered the queen when she chose to respond, although I cannot determine the cause of the offense. I will endeavor to remain silent in our future negotiations with her and her entourage. However, I have three issues to bring forth:
1. I require funding to continue this venture. I motion that we demand a modest stipend to continue our work.
2. I am unwilling to participate in any torture of the assassin. I will not interfere with others' methods, just be aware that torture can induce false testimonies.
3. I believe we should disguise ourselves and approach the servant's entrance of the castle separately. We could be under surveillance and servants tend to gossip."

Sora awoke later then everyone else as she was never much of a morning person. After getting dressed she more or less dragged herself to a table and was just finished ordering breakfast when Khorzik addressed everyone with his concerns. She listened to him carefully and openly, nodding along. They were all reasonable requests, in her opinion.
Once her breakfast started being delivered she began digging into the hearty meal as she responded to each of the hobgoblin's concerns.
"You bring up some fair points. Hopefully I can answer them all.
First, we're already being funded for this mission. Count Hakon has promised each of us a hundred gold for bringing him proof of the Queen's assassin. Not that I trust him completely, but I will definitely want to make sure he pays us, one way or another. Besides, I'm sure we can try to find some alternative funding once we investigate Linthe's house. Beyond that we can try to negotiate something with the Queen's people. Like Moira has mentioned they probably owe us for some work we did in Greymeadow. But with things as they are, dealing with the Royal family right now will require a delicate touch. They're not gonna want to pay us simply because we ask them. So for now we should focus on proving our worth to them.
With that in mind, I agree with you about torturing the assassin. He probably just got hired on to do a job the same way we were. If he's remotely worth his salt as an assassin we're not likely to get anything useful out of torturing him regardless. Speaking to him from a more "professional" standing will probably get us better results.
I also agree we will want to be careful heading into the castle, we already know this town is thick with gossip already so they're bound to be talking about us if we show them anything they can talk about." At that thought she turns to Witt adding, "Sound like you really hit it off with the Castle staff, might be a good idea for you to keep chatting with them, keep them distracted so their talking to you, instead of talking about us. What do you think?"
9 quietly regards Kal’s presence in the morning, and goes about her business. While at the table, she thinks of getting the information out of the assassin, “He was hired to do a job, yes, but that job was killing a child, and probably an innocent one at that. And do not worry about false testimonies, I’ll be there for precisely that reason.” , she spoke with a complete lack of sympathy towards the assassin, finishing her breakfast, and getting ready to go wherever they were headed next.
"I believe we could ask for a credit against a realm resource, but that would be something we ask for from Konor or the Guard Captain Anastasia. I wouldn't be surprised if Konor had access to undisclosed funds that could help fund our endeavors.
As far as the assassin, I feel we should first investigate Linthe and her estate. If this person was indeed hired by her then we may be able to find evidence of it. We can use that evidence or at least more concrete suspicion to talk with this assassin. Some of us were not seen by the assassin and could possibly make convincing allies.
For returning to the castle, I could approach the guards on behalf of Lynn-Marie believing she had left something behind in the castle and request the Captain for entrance on this premise. Moria, I presume, could do a similar entrance." Kal speaks in calm even tones. His emotional state having returned Winter, his skin a pale grey and hair inky black with traces of dark blue. As before his eyes glow a pale grey-blue.
Khorzik listens intently to everyone's feedback. "I agree with investigating Linthe's estate before the interrogation. It could reveal valuable leverage. With enough information, we could stage a rescue of the assassin by the those of the party who remain unknown. It is a high risk plan - as the assassin could actually escape - but more information may be forthcoming than an interrogation."
Khorzik turns towards 9. "I assume you can magically detect falsehoods once spoken. Can you compel the subject to answer or know their thoughts while they formulate an answer? My skills are lacking in both these areas."
