"I am sorry, I do not have the authorization for that," Buhrell says, raising his hands in apology. "I'll have a difficult time explaining 100 gold pieces as a reward as it is. As I said, you are welcome to keep the tooth - you are proven within this town, after all - but I would think twice before experimenting with such an item. One wrong move and we'll all be holding hands in the center of Podol Plaza."
Not many return to the tavern, having had enough action for one day. However, the halfling trio - "Good show, good show!" - are more than willing to take Zelra up on her offer.
"Well then, I guess I'll hang onto it if there can be no trade st this time. Feel free to let your superiors know I have it and if they would like to make an exchange they can contact me," he says politely. "In the mean time, I'll study it when I'm able and maybe I can make something useful out of it.
With that said he'll head over to the others. "I'm going to see if I can find something to keep this in. Thinking a glass container, then a padded wooden box and lastly tucking it a leather bag. That's three layers of insulation that should help."
Uragum will then hit any stores in town that may have those types of things.
Before Uragum leaves, Zelra suggests buying something that came from the Quivering Forest, just in case the lightning escapes again. "Honestly, don't know if it's a good idea to keep it considering what literally just happened but meh, up to you."
Uragum takes a deep breath and sighs, he then turns to Buhrell and holds out the tooth. "Here, take it then. But once you figure out some more about it, send the information back to me. It's not the first dragon related item/event that's happened with us and probably not the last. Having any information related to safeguards against these items would be useful. I trust, that much is acceptable." With that he gives a slight bow of his head and lumbers back into the tavern.
Sitting next to Zelra he says, "I spose that's part of the value of a group. Keep each other grounded and from makin stupid mistakes." He flicks a piece of broken glass off of the table and says, "But don't tell me you'd turn down a blue dragon tooth dagger that shocks those stabbed."
Zelra sips her drink and squints at Uragum over her cup. "Why you gotta make me regret my decision like that?"She laughs and shrugs. "Oh well. What's done is done.... but damn that dagger does sound nice..."
Buhrell Caah grins and clasps Uragum's hand. "I'll do you on better than that. Why don't you join the Emerald Enclave? We can do with more folk that want to keep the elements in check, and our knowledge will be readily available to you. I'll be around for a few days. Consider it, and if you share our interest in preserving the natural order, come find me."
The half-orc digs into his pouch, removing a small potion of healing. "I appreciate your trust. Here, take this. The Enclave won't frown at me for giving away my own stock, and I won't need it today."
A long afternoon, evening, and night of drinking brings a close to yet another successful mission at Madame Freona's - A Shock at Evenfeast has been disrupted.
OOC: Removed 5 gp from Zelra's inventory for the drinks.
For determining the pattern of the lightning without any assistance, each character has received 25 XP. For capturing the lightning within the tooth and preventing its dark ritual from completing, each character has received 75 XP.
Who would like to take the potion of healing?
We now begin another five days of downtime. What would everyone like to do with this time?
Ola reported about event to the Lords’ Alliance and returned to the Temple's hospital. She was getting more and more accustomed to the healing. When she was not there or practising her crossbow shooting (she was pretty much convinced it is pointless, but tried nevertheless), she was at the sea - she managed to find a quiet spot under the storm-beaten pine tree, where she could (in her terms) "commune with the ocean".
By the way, she made sure the potion of healing went to Uragum, in case he neglected to take the gift himself.
Sylyra again seeks the Harper, the moon elf named Olisara Lightsong, at The Laughing Goblin to talk about the goings on and learn more about the Harpers. If she is not there, he will spend up to two days trying to find her. He will also ask her if there's anything he can do for her.
If Olisara has no task for him or the task doesn't take the whole downtime, and if Uragum returns to the pits, Sylyra will accompany him to watch. If the goliath does well (only wins the battles he watches), Sylyra will fight one battle.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Uragum will conduct some research during his downtime. He is looking for magical item formula. Specifically imbued wood focus (wands that give a bonus on specific element damage). That said he would be happy if he found any. 50 go initially then I gain a +1 for each 100 gp spent additionally. Going to go with only the 50 hp for now.
Some are there to learn from "Arnald the Keen", whose lessons in archery are quickly becoming a staple in Phlan, some are there to hear the tales of your adventures and the enemies your skills have been used upon, and others are there simply to see Sly and marvel at your accuracy. The crowd you draw this time around is slightly larger than the last, but missing once again is Villonah, the studious gnome who attended your first few lessons.
OOC: Removed 5 gp for living expenses.

"Thank you for your report,"Brother Keefe tells you when you check in. "First the signs of an attempted dracolich, and now a powerful artifact made from a dragon's tooth. There is certainly a pattern to this. Stay safe, and report back in if you learn anything new. I will contact you if something arises sooner."
Work at the temple is light this week, but enough to cover your living expenses.

Now that you've had your taste of the strategy (or lack thereof) of most of the brutes of the fighting pit, you have an absolute field day with your bouts this week. Still relatively unknown, you are matched up other new entrants to the pits, who all have no answer to your sheer speed. It is a simple enough task to wear them down before landing a pinpoint final blow, and you win all three fights put before you without breaking much of a sweat, and only taking a few punches at all.
Chaab has no work for you yet. He will contact you if any jobs arise, but asks that you continue to report in - word has spread of the "Shock at Evenfeast", and the continued theme of dragons has him concerned.
OOC: Added 195 gp in winnings minus living expenses.

There is still no sign of Olisara at The Laughing Goblin, but a large bumbling human named Markoth Hasselpond is waiting tables when you arrive and motions you to join him by the bar.
"One of our regulars left a message for you - an elf named Olisara. She only stopped by for a few minutes, but asked me to tell you to stay here in Phlan for a while. Said she doesn't know when she'll be back, but work may find you before she does...whatever that means," he says.
Uragum does not go to the fighting pits this week, but Zelra is there when you arrive, dancing circles around her opponent and laughing as she pesters him with quick but forceful kicks to the side of his leg. A greasy, weasly looking half-elf holds a stack of parchment while a Black Fist guard stands behind him. He looks you up and down and says, "Eh, you look like you can handle yourself in a fight, but you've missed this round. Come back next week if you want to sign up, but understand what you're going up against here - even the worst fighters here are scrappy brutes, and one wrong punch can land you in a rough spot. If it sounds like your alley though, you can make yourself some nice winnings. Three fights a week. Your money comes from the bettors - 50 gold for a win, 100 for two, and 200 for taking all three."
OOC: Removed 5 gp for living expenses.

Through searching various shops of arcana in Phlan's Podol Plaza, you uncover the basis of what it would take to craft that which you seek - the key ingredient being certain types of active magic that can activate the arcane properties of such an item. However, more research will be required to track down where this magic can be found in Phlan.
OOC: Removed 55 gp for research costs and living expenses.
Sylyra blinks down his nose at the half-elf. "Thanks for the warning." After Zelra's last bout, Sylyra congratulates her genuinely, though his tone of voice causes her to wonder if he's being sincere.

Zelra quickly stops by the Havenstone Family house and drops off 50 gold with a little note that says "Am I done yet?"

In what seems like a lifetime ago, you were told that Madame Freona's Tea Kettle was the place where adventurers could find work and avoid the hassle associated with other places in Phlan. So far, that has been true. Madame Freona, a stout and officious halfling who runs the establishment with her five daughters, has proven an excellent hostess. You arrived here two tendays ago alone, but through four successful missions, you have found yourselves the beginnings of a tried and true adventuring party.
This day, as the sun finally sets in the west, you settle down for one last beverage. Whittlee, one of Freona's daughters, sees to the late-night crowd. Her startlingly white hair is pulled back in a tight braid. She expertly juggles pots of tea, tankards of ale, flagons of wine, and other assorted mugs and cups.
The door to the Tea Kettle opens, revealing a worried-looking gnome. He wears patchwork clothes and wrings a floppy hat nervously in his calloused hands.
He peers around the room pensively, until his eyes focus on your group, and on Arnald in particular. He quickly walks toward you, ignoring the stares and whispered jibes from some of the other patrons. "Arnald the Keen, yes? Are these your friends? Are you adventurers? My little girl is in t-t-terrible trouble. Will you hear my story? I can pay!" he sputters.
In the Temple Ola saw enough of grief and hard distress to recognize seriousness of that little gnome troubles. "Of course,"the gnome asked them all, right? "Sit with us Master...?" she made a pause for the gnome to introduce himself.
"Rillo, thank you," the gnome says, taking a "seat" at the table, standing atop a chair so that he can speak at eye level. "My name is Rillo Leadstopper, I am a tinkerer in town. But this is not about me, it is about my daughter, Villonah. She has been in t-t-trouble with the law before...ever since her mother died, she has become quite wild and inconsolable...but last night...this time, is different, I am afraid."
He stops to collect his thoughts and lets out a worried sigh. "Most of the crimes she has committed have been minor offenses, enough to earn her small fines or a few days in jail. She has become a sort of 'usual suspect' for the Black Fist guards, but last night while she was visiting my home, they arrested her. They gave no indication of the charges, they just barged in!"
Rillo plops down wearily in his seat, straining to keep his head over the table. "With her past incidents, she was held in Castle Valjevo; I would go there the next day and pay for her release. But this time, when I went to Stojanow Gate to inquire about her, the Black Fist guards there told me she was not in the castle jail. I bribed guards, I called in favors, but...not a one knows her whereabouts."
"So in a panic, I went to the seedier parts of town to ask about her. I found a cutpurse who spoke of a secret prison that a small group of Black Fist guards use covertly, unbeknownst to their leadership. Rumors flowed that a gnome girl was taken there after stealing something valuable from one of the guards. They...they said the prison is used to t-t-torture and murder prisoners without their leaders finding out. If she is..."
Rillo stops for a long moment to collect himself, eyes watering and lips quivering. "The cutpurse told me the prison is located beneath the ruins of the Lyceum of the Black Lord. The burnt-out Lyceum itself is a makeshift shelter for the displaced and injured, but the guards must have found and taken up secret residence in some chambers beneath it. He said the entrance is through caves on the shore of the River Stojanow."
"I can take you there, but I need some with the strength and ability to navigate this darkness. I can pay fifty gold pieces for information on how to obtain her release. I don't expect you to be able to get her out of there yourselves, but if you can I can throw in my finest magnifying glass...it's the most valuable thing I own. Please, I...I know she attended your lessons, Mr. The Keen, and I...I fear those new talents may have gotten her in over her head."
Little Villonah was a criminal?! That was a lot to swallow. Probably with some strong drink for help (not that Ola practised such helping). But Villonah was also a cute little child, always there, practising, listening, more than Ola, actually... "Surely even the most corrupt among guards would not hurt a child! Your ... informant could be lying to get your money. And if I get it right, we are supposed to attack officials. Even if they are doing something illegal - they are still official guards." "I am not saying we refuse to search for your daughter,"she tried to reassure desperate father, "but there is a lot to think about."
"I am sorry, I do not have the authorization for that," Buhrell says, raising his hands in apology. "I'll have a difficult time explaining 100 gold pieces as a reward as it is.
