Fang helps build the pyre and attempts to use mending as much as it is useful. Fang is a bit disappointed that he wasn’t able to find any game to make a meal for him and Mushu. He’ll try his luck fishing when the group gets back to the boat. (OOC are we able to bring all of the items in one trip back to the boat?)
Shae couldn’t help but chuckle when Maxine would be the one letting out a breath of relief for their safety. She was the one who was in worse shape. Not only that, she travelled to them, by herself, injured. And no one blinked an eye. Shae would put her hands on her hips to playfully ready up to chastise Maxine up and down like she would her if the shoe was on the other foot. But in truth, she was just glad things worked out. So far... She still worried for the others left on Hope.
Nodding along with Maxine and Berrus’ suggestions to take everything, she’d help load what she could. Most importantly though, she’d focus on helping the injured onto the disc and completing another check on them before they’d set out.
Although the funeral ritual is a quick affair, you can feel that it is important to the survivors to properly say goodbye, and you spend about ten minutes or so, watching the flames and listen to them reminisce or quietly shed a tear.
Once they are ready, you start to load up the supplies and the wounded. The food, water, and camping gear plus Noska take up all the space you have available on the disc, but you all shoulder as much of the remaining equipment as you can, resulting in a very odd looking marching column fo the return trip, with Berrus carrying two shovels and two pickaxes, as well as his battleaxe on his shoulders, Shae shouldering the expensive-looking cartography gear and trying her best not to get the map cases entangled in the fauna. Even the Professor is helping to carry additional supplies, having two coils of rope on his shoulders for the trip back. Fang, crafty as usual, has taken one of the ropes and with a few hacked off plam fronds has fashioned a simple sledge that he loads up with some supplies, before lashing them together with the rope and fashioning an improvised harness. That way, you're able to carry all the supplies with you in a single trip back to the boat.
Heavily laden as you are, the return trip takes you almost twice as long as getting to the digsite did, but about nintey minutes later, you emerge on the beach, to find the battered and bruised Brax resting on deck, while Bertrand and Falx have almost finished with the repairs. The splintered skeletons from the confrontation earlier are still left in the sand, proof to you all of a vicious skirmish that happened in your absence, but that everyone seemed to have escaped alive, even if Brax looks exhausted and badly hurt.
Falx looks at you all in amazement, before calling the other two to attention and excitedly waving at the new faces: "Hey there, what's this then? Reinforcements?"

"Food," very seriously answered Maxine, thinking about other matters. Then the words she said sunk in properly and she elaborated: "Rescued expedition and their supplies. Seems like we can make to to the Port now with all the helping hands, guides and nice people in general." (The latter notion was supposed to correct first accidental blunder)
Before beginning to help unloading, she went to check if her mending magic is still required to finish the rapier. "It seems the jungle here is full of undead on top of everything else. We better hurry with sailing off."
Maxine, you do notice the tabaxi in particular looking at you with a very worried expression, still vividly remembering Fang's seemingly first instinct towards their dead, and the relative calm from everyone from your group towards this. When you call them "food" she at least seems to be drawing some conclusions. Turning to Shae, the tabaxi asks: "How many were you at the beginning?"

Maxine sighed - it was going so well! "Three Earrings? I am sorry again - I was thinking about something else, truly. Was expecting Brax to ask about craters and answered the question he never asked." She tried to look as convincing as she could. "You see, we did spent quite a long time with the locals. Maxine was out of her full polite vocabulary - if that did not work, she would call Shae.
Between Berrus and Maxine, the tabaxi was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, keeping a watchful eye on the treeline while the rest of the equipment, as well as Noska, is being loaded onto the ship. With about half the equipment already carried by you all, it takes little time to move everything to the ship, the only hitch comes when the Professor slips and struggles to get back up from underneath the waves with the relatively heavy load of the wet rope weighing him down. Putting it onto the floating sphere, he then gets to move, or rather swim in the ches deep water for him to reach the boat safely, where Bertrand and Falx start to help load the crates of food onto the ship.
About an hour later, all your gear is stowed, and Berrus and Three Earrings make their way onto the ship as well, Berrus having taken off his chain mail and holding it above his head to avoid getting salt water onto it. As the sun sets and the moon slowly rises above Kitcher's Inlet, you slowly haul up the anchor and cast off, onwards to port Nyanzaru.
Between the additional people and all the provisions, the ship is very full now, and the small cabin is used strictly for the recovering wounded, and to store the books and other important documents of the group, while Fang and Bertrand are using some of the packed up tents to create improvised shelter against the sun or the rain on deck.
Beyond this, who wants to take what shifts with whom, and what do you want to do during your days on the ship?
To list all the people and potential things you might want to achieve. This list is by no means exhaustive, it's just an attempt for me to figure out what you all might want to do with your time on the boat now. You can choose to do things beyond that, and I'm happy to allow you to start learning skills to further your proficiencies in something, if you let me know what you want to work on.
Three shifts of five people
Thessalandra: Happy to focus most of her attention on getting you all home safely. Falx: Happy to work on his own skills with Berrus, perhaps sparr with him Brax: needs to spend some time recovering, and won't be much help other than advising on sailing the ship Bertrand: Hopes to learn more techniques from Berrus. Cliff: Hopes to learn more techniques from Berrus, or Brax. Zip: Is eager to work on the illusionist bracers that you found in the hag's skull. Berrus: Might want to continue training with Shae, and support her as she's figuring out the source of her new power and the strange figurine that Berrus found Shae: Might want to continue training with Berrus, might want to commune more with Kam, might use the new cartography equipment to make more accurate maps of the coastline to add to the Professor's gazetteer. Maxine: Might want to work on finishing the notes section about plants and potions. Might want to figure out more mixtures, might want to further her arcane studies. Content to keep the ship moving forward to port. Fang: Might want to fish for something bigger, to feed Mushu and to get some materials to cover the Professor's gazetteer with. Might want to practice his archery or magic Professor: Might want to finish his notes in the gazetteer, might want to spend some time on arcane studies, might want to sit down with Zymion to check out the ancient artifact. Zymion: Might want to use the mirror to find out more about the history of the artifact that their expedtion found and that was stolen by the undead. Corrin: Needs to spend some time healing from his burn wounds, will want to discuss with the leader of your group about the planned route, and the plans thereafter. Noska: Needs to heal from almost losing a leg, but happy to work with Thessalandra to keep pushing forward. Three Earrings: Though suspect of Fang, might want to engage with him after seeing his skill with a bow and as a hunter and fisher, since she is a ranger and scout herself.

All of the above for Maxine. Plus, considering later events, she might join melee training to get a few pointers, though, the same events convinced her, that "alchemy" is not only potions, and anything igniting or exploding might be of use too. She is quite determined to recreate the fire-breathing potion.
Once he is properly dried out from his impromptu bath, the Professor will indeed get lost in a discussion with the fellow arcane scholar. First priority was to use the mirror on the stolen artifact, then secondarily to compare notes on their respective expeditions and record the important bits in his Gazetteer and Journal. Third priority was to see if there were any spells they wanted to copy off each other.
Also, the Professor will periodically do the Unseen Servant ritual to help with minor tasks around the ship and generally make people more comfortable.

Fang will spend his waking hours on the ship during the next travel phase fishing for himself and Mushu. He is unsure how to cook his catch on the boat and would seek out Glasses help to cook his food using magical fire.
He will also begin (and hopefully finish) work on a larger quiver (20 arrow capacity to 40) hopeful that the recovered supplies and raw materials from his fishing is enough to complete the task.
Further he will do his best to help make Glasses Spellbook waterproof and in an attempt to not cause more trouble will keep as much distance from the tabaxi as possible.
As the crackling flames of the funeral ritual echoed in the silence, Shae would take a tentative step forward. Staring down at her feet, she’d wiggle her toes as a soft melody began to build in her throat. Taking a soft inhale, Shae’d lift her head and begin to sing.
Let it be, let it be Let it be, let it be Whisper words of wisdom Let it be
And when the broken hearted people living in the world agree There will be an answer, let it be For though they may be parted, there is still a chance that they will see There will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be Let it be, let it be Yeah, there will be an answer Let it be Let it be, let it be Let it be, let it be Whisper words of wisdom Let it be
And when the night is cloudy there is still a light that shines on me Shine until tomorrow, let it be I wake up to the sound of music, Mother Mary comes to me Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
A tear would trickle down her cheek.
Taking a deep breath, she’d wipe away her tear. Shae would take her next best step forward to help load the sick onto the disc for the trek home.
Shae couldn’t help but offer Three Earrings a polite smile as Berrus and Maxine worked together to clarify and clear the tabaxi of some of her worries. Truthfully Shae was more concerned about tending to Brax and checking on Falx and Bertrand. She had already begun fussing over Brax’s wounds as he and Berrus called back and forth. The medic would try to hide a small smile of endearment towards Berrus’ ‘tough love’ with them.
“Let’s get you taken care of.” Shae would smile softly.
Shae would do her best to organize and balance her time amongst all her responsibilities. She enjoyed having things to focus on and to look forward to.
Shae would be sure to check in with Berrus on dedicating time slots for training (excited if/when Maxine would join!), and she would take night watches. She would prioritize her medical checks and tending to the wounded. While she’d spend time tending to them, she would be happy to coordinate communication amongst Brax, Noska and the Captain. She would definitely take advantage of the new and improved equipment to update their maps as she could. Should Zip desire to work on the bracers, she would offer them to him to do so.
The morning of the next day, Berrus, Fang, Bertrand, Falx, and Corrin start to work on the various tasks on the ship. Although only Falx is experienced, you see that Corrin is quick to get around, and Berrus helps with any heavy hauling, while Fang is on lookout in the crow's nest. Shae, Maxine, Cliff, Brax, and Noska are still resting from the nightshift, but the Professor and Zymion are seen discussing arcane matters and sharing notes on spells and the workings of the weave.
Professor, Zymion is willing to share his knowledge of evocation combat spells, or the secrets to the mending ritual, and some illusion magic to help with disguising oneself in return for some help in mastering the techniques for either mage armour, or the shield spell, or teaching him how to summon an unseen servant.
Please indicate, if you want to learn evocation combat spells, otherwise you can copy Zymion’s notes and add mending and disguise self to your spells.
When they inspect the mirror for some glimpses into the arcane item that the expedition uncovered and that was stolen they see the following scenes:
A ruby gem with a sharp point, almost looking like a stone dagger, is being hurriedly brought into some room by figures in priestly robes made from parrot feathers, and jaguar pelts, while black pillars of smoke rise from a widespread city.
The red gem is held in the hands of a similarly clad priest. Before him, tied onto a stone altar, is a young boy, pointed in ritualistic symbols. A guard of twelve warriors flanks the altar, clad in woven padded linens with jaguar helmets. Their spears are tipped in iron or bronze. The priest then plunges the ruby into the chest of the young man, killing him. As he expires, the red ruby pulses.
The third scene shows a group of adventurers crack open a tomb, with twelve skeletons around an empty sarcophagus, and the gem lying on the ground. They take it with them, as they walk back through a deserted city.
The last scene shows twelve priests adorned in gold and bronze jewellery gather around a familiar sarcophagus, the pulsing red gem in hand. Suddenly, the gem bursts into a flash of red light. As the light rescinds, the priests lie on the ground, and the mummy rises from the sarcophagus.
At midday, Professor, Zymion, Zip, Three Earrings and Thessalandra take the shift. Thessalandra is training Zip, who similar to Shae has shown an interest in helping out around the boat, while Zymion and the Professor are doing their best to help people with the magic at their disposal. Three Earrings clearly seems ill at ease on the water, but tries her best and quickly takes up the position in the crow’s nest, after seeing Fang do the same in the morning.
Berrus, in the meantime, has taken some of the wooden handles from the shovels and pickaxes, to repurpose them as training staffs for his students. Shae spends about half an hour checking on Brax and Noska, before joining in the sparring with Berrus, Bertrand and Maxine. Falx is content to sit by for a while, silently studying the movements, before taking up a staff himself, and asking if Berrus wanted to spar for a demonstration.
Berrus, please roll initiative, if you accept.
Fang meanwhile has taken some pleasure in finding that one of the crates contained a net, and is using it to fish for crabs and the like, which spices up your lunch.
After her training, Maxine sits down in the cabin, and starts to dig through her notes and her remaining and new ingredients and starts to experiment.
Please roll an intelligence check and add your proficiency bonus for the alchemist’s supplies to see whether you can discover new potions.
After sundown, Shae, Maxine, Cliff, Brax, and Noska take their shift with the boat. As Brax and Noska are both still recovering, Shae takes a close eye on her. But thanks to what she’s picked up already about the tasks on board the ship, she is able to manage fine with the occasional pointer from Brax.
Berrus and the Professor are happily asleep, while Fang sits down to craft. With his sharp Needledagger undoes the stitching on the back of the supple bark that his quiver is made from. Taking two pairs of boots that he had received as his share of the spare clothing they found, but that he was unlikely to use, he cuts them down to a pair of normal shoes for the others, and then goes about cutting the remaining leather into thin strips. Borrowing some sailcloth, he does the same with a similarly sized piece, before he starts to weave them together in a checkerboard pattern, forming four rectangular patches. He then takes some of his strong fishing line, and transforming the dagger back into a needle stitches them together to double the capacity of his quiver to now hold fourty arrows.
Seeing him fashion the quiver, the tabaxi tentatively approaches, trying to strike up a conversation and hoping to apologise for misjudging the situation at the dig site. Corrin and Thessalandra meanwhile discuss the next steps for your journey back to Port Nyanzaru.
Please let me know if you want to act anything out, or what your character would want to do for the second day.
