Tefkae remained vigilant for at least a few moments longer than most. But eventually, seeing no more forces pour out of the mist, their guard visibly relaxes enough to start regarding people once more. "Greetings. This one is to be called Tefkae. And these-..."Gesturing to everyone each in turn, she rattles off a name before turning back on the captain. "Inquiry. Is it then uncommon for them to change forms in general? And that this is merely a new variation?" They ask curiously. "If not, this matter may be something that required further investigation into, least the town find itself in increasingly dire straits. But with your support, perhaps we may avail you with our unique services."

"You do not need to concern yourselves, travellers." The guard captain speaks to the group, his tone cutting through the area. "It is the role of the guards to defeat the creatures of the mists, even at the costs of our lives. You are not guards, so you do not need to risk such things." He looks to Tefkae. "Any new threats we present the information to the scholar. The scholar will then catalog them and any interesting traits they had. The huntress will most likely travel out and check the nearby surroundings once we have informed the scholar, so rest assured things will be well."
The guard captain's tone seems almost rehearsed, but there is resolve in his tone. In the meantime, Eight-Bit patters over to where the blood patches are on the ground and begins to mop them up, removing the dark grey stain from the ground. Captain Obaysch stands before the guard captain. "Yes, as one captain to another though, you should always value your crew. If it weren't for these rascals you would probably have to have a recruitment drive, heh." He chuckles to himself. "Now, given we have saved your fair village from the worst of it, perhaps some sort of reward might be in offer."
A couple of the guards take the man and woman off to one side, consoling them somewhat before directing them to head off inward into the village.
With the man gone, Zack makes his way back to the group. He stands near the back and doesn't say anything... as usual. He just observes what the others are saying.
"Our captain does have a point. If you would prefer, it is not wholly un-negotiable to wait until you have perhaps reported this to the mayor to dispense a suitable reward. As is overwhelmingly clear, we are new, and would just like to be of assistance, though in exchange for the tools we may need to move on." Tefkae tries to emulate Captain Obaysch. She is not very successful. "That matter aside, we would speak to this scholar then. As well as the huntress. Are there any rituals or notable rulings in place to hinder interaction? Or might you or one of your own guide us to these individuals?"

Ankor feeling the effects of the battle expending his divine favors plus the exhaustion he has felt since landing in this strange place opts to find a seat nearby perhaps the steps of the church. Speaking out loud but not to anyone in particular "Perhaps they can let their people know of what happened here tonight. As Tefkae stated. Let them mull it over tonight and we can reconvene in the morning. For now, after that fight, I sure could use a drink and a bite to eat" Looking at the guard captain "Give word to this scholar and the mayor of the deeds done here this night. Where could we find you in the morning?"

"The rules laid down by the mayors of old state that travellers may come and go as they please." The guard mentions. "However, those whom take on a position in the town must adhere to its rules. Perhaps after some rest, you should speak to the mayor again, or go seek the scholar. For now, perhaps the innkeeper will have their first travellers shelter there since they assumed their role." The guard gestures back the way you came. "If you make your way back to the crossroads, cross and rather than turn, keep walking. You will see a larger building with a tall angular roof and double doors. It has a wooden symbol in the shape of a bed upon its signpost."
Tefkae looks people over once more and subtly nods. "Expediency would be preferred by this one, as the current inhabitants of this town are... odd. But, I seem to have underestimated the constitution of you more organic constructs. Let us be off before collapse in the streets."The warforged spins on a heel, and would lead the way to the 'Inn' if someone else did not beat them to the punch.
Once the group reach their destination however, the warforged opts to stand vigil outside. The dwarf-sized construct even remains standing when the dim light of their eyes eventually winks out altogether. Though before rests them, they take a moment to go through the ritual of summoning Mr. Pepper, burning through fast diminishing materials as others had gone inside to get situated.
So Victoria begins to search for Sailor and where the scared pup went. If she could make a Wisdom (Survival) check to try and find out where he went.
(It is up to the group if they wait and help her find the dog. If not, see below.)
Following the directions of the guard captain, the group finds an inn. It is moderately sized, but looks larger due to most of the houses around the area being on the smaller side. Hanging over the front door is an old wooden sign that has a resemblance to a bed, but the definition of the carving appears to have worn away slightly over the years.
Upon entering, the inn emits a warmth that hasn't been felt outside of the tavern earlier. There is a thick mat to wipe feet on, and the walls are lined with small lanterns fixed about seven feet of the ground. To the left there appears to be a waiting room, large enough for about ten people to take a seat and relax, and a polished wooden desk, smaller and less grand than the mayor's, is positioned ahead in front of two doors. Upon the desk is a thick tome, opened onto its first page, the pages are lined, but nothing is written upon it.
"H-hello?" A dreary voice calls, as slowly stepping out from the waiting room is an elderly looking man. He is hunched over, garbed in very plain clothes, like most of the villagers that have been sighted so far, and uses a cane to aid in his step. "Who is it?"
"If you insist upon wasting your sleep cycle upon that rogue ration, you should start by the church." Tefkae will gesture in its general direction. "It had bumped into me while I was attempting to complete preparations."The Warforged turns as if again readying to lead back to the Inn. Though after a moment's pause, they shake their head, and join Victoria in their search. "As I do not require rest, the rest of you should proceed. We will be there soon enough." Tefkae offers by way of condolences.

Zack stays for a minute to look in the direction of the Church. He wonders if he should join in the search of the dog. He doesn't show it but he is rather fond of Sailor. However, he heads back to inn with the other members of the party.
When the old man at the inn asks them, Zack says, "Uh, Um... We are guests here. We wish to spend the night at the inn."

(Second roll for Victoria): 7
In the dirt on the tracks nearby the chapel, a couple of little pawprints are found. After a few moments of searching, a little whimper is heard from beside chapel, Sailor hunkered down with his ears drooped. They perk up after seeing Victoria as the pup scuttles over, yapping a couple of times in recognition.
"What, visitors!?" The elderly man says with a weary excitement to it. "Hoo my, the light has surely blessed me after all these years." The elderly man staggers as quickly as he can using his wooden cane towards the group. It is made obvious as the elderly man approaches that his eyes are cloudy, his vision greatly impaired. "N-not to worry, my fine guests, you will have the greatest hospitality found this side of the mists." He cackles and guffaws to himself. "Real guests, honest to goodness guests! Ah, yes, the ledger!" The old man slowly heads to the desk and fumbles around for an inkwell and quill from a drawer. "Now... I need to record names, yes, names..." He tells himself.
(Anyone with Passive Insight 11 or higher can tell that the tone of his voice shows this elderly man, despite is potential experience has probably never had guests stay at his inn before.)
Zack's social skills being best described as "non-confrontational as ****" goes along with it. He tells the old man his name, "My name is Zack Ravengar. We are 5 people."
The old man reminds Zack of his grandfather, who was a great scholar and an equally great leader. He went blind in the last days of his life.
"I fail to see why you care so much for something that has even lost its usefulness as rations. Do you intend to raise it into a battle companion, knowing the risks that entails? Or perhaps as a helper similar to Mr. Pepper? Or will it become merely another mouth to feed once we leave this place?"Tefkae kept her voice neutral throughout the questioning on the way back to the Inn. But the undertone and near constant leering at the pup in Victoria's arms makes their disapproval clear. No matter the answer, Tefkae remains outside once the arrive at the Inn, committing herself to standing silent vigil by the doorway.

"Don't forget our scavanging friends, Zachary!" Captain Obaysch says. "We have a couple out on the prowl looking for the ship's dog."
Tefkae and Victoria arrive outside of the inn, seeing the door is open and hear the loud voice of the giff captain from within.
Zack says, "Don't worry captain, I didn't forget about them." Giving the short sighted, man ample time to write each name, Zack will list off the names of each of the party members.
