A sliver dagger? Elwin shoved it into his own belt. No need to leave the assassin with a weapon.
The map proved to be the most interesting item he found, but there wasn't time to thoroughly examine it. Elwin folded it into quarters, then carefully tucked it into his pants behind his belt, where it should be missed by a pat down.
The gold... was tempting. But those damnable guards! Cursing his fortune, the adventurer tossed the coin purse into the dirty bathwater. Between any grime and leftover suds, he doubted the tub would be searched, and if it was, the dwarves could claim the coin was theirs and had been knocked in. Not that he was THAT into charity, but better the family with damaged property get it than that it get confiscated, or taken by possibly corrupt guards. True, they didn't need ALL of it, but... well, no point in dwelling on it. He felt Tam's eyes on him as the purse made a splash, but at this point he didn't even try to guess what was going through her head.
He sighed as he stood. The entire situation had gotten extraordinarily messy. In fact, they didn't even both need to be here to explain the assassin... he thought of suggesting that Tam run off with whatever-that-was back to Gavin, to guarantee that at least one of them brought something back. But at this point, he had no clue how she'd react to anything he said. Attack him out of fear? Possible. Get suspicious and smash the bottle onto the floor? Another option. "No, best to leave well enough alone," he thought. "Guess I'll just be winging it. Just my luck."
She's had enough of this crappy situation and exits the room through the bathroom door.
Walking towards the guards, she says with authority, "The incapacitated halfling on the floor killed Florence Quickblade, the other one had a hand in it and took his stuff. Feel free to search him; I'd start with that dagger in his belt."
To the older woman, "Madam, my sincerest apologies on interrupting your bath and scaring you." Pulling out, the bottle with the larva, "I did manage to catch this little bug in one of your jars. Not sure you wanted it in your bathroom. Would you like it back?"
OOC: Ooooh... should I roll Perception to see if Elwin hears that? Hmm, just in case...
Perception Check:11
EDIT: If the roll isn't high enough, Elwin will just be awaiting the guards without knowing what was said. However, I've included a bit below in a spoiler for if he DOES hear Tam.
It took Elwin a few seconds--Tam had already started speaking to the old woman--before what she had said registered.
"WHAT?!!!"
The remainder of Tam's dialogue confused him at first, but then made his blood run cold as the possible implications dawned on him.
"It couldn't be..."
His first thought was that it was time to abandon ship. He could just jump out the window and bolt off... he was pretty certain he could sneak back to the Hanging Chicken without them catching him.
But something about all this seemed... off. Wrong. Like he was being toyed with. Elwin grit his teeth... he didn't like it when things got complicated. But he had to remember--he didn't set out to become an adventurer just for the fun of it. He had to deal with this if he could.
Physical danger wasn't unavoidable just yet--there might be a time to flee, but it wasn't right now. He would face these guards. He would beat this situation, despite Tam's bewitched influence.
X still holding the drunk and carrying him along as his legs dragged against the ground continued to follow Tori into the 4th room before looking around the room that they where given
"X, why don't you go shower of? I'll be in to wash your back shortly." she croons with a sultry smile. "Feel free to drop that drunk anywhere. I'll deal with him. You've worked hard enough, Big Boy" she gives him a wink.
Torment grabs a seat and motions for the flabbergasted Alchemist to do the same. Turning to the the man, she motions for him to give him her vestments back. "I think I'll take my robes back now. I believe the disguise was a major success."
“I have an offer for you, my friend. Since you are obviously safer hiding here than at your shop, you can feel free to consider this your safe-house until I’ve dealt with your friend the Cookie Monster. However, I feel like some quid pro quo is in order here… What say you help supply us with what we need to defeat the Boogie Dough in exchange for protection?”
Motioning around the room with an airy wave, she smiles – “I’m sure we could get some adequate air flow and there seems to be plenty of work-space. If I provide you with ingredients, room and board, would you be able to craft us potions and cures for poisons that we may face? If we’re going to defeat the Dough Ball, we’ll need all the help we can get, I’m sure. I have some minor skill in herbalism, so I could be of some help I imagine, maybe even learn a few things.”
Scooting her chair right up next to him and sliding her knee in between his thighs, she leans in close and licks her lips with a forked tongue, eyes turning a bright golden, sprinkled with falling snow“I’m sure there are many other benefits you’ll be able to cash in on staying here in the room…”
Suddenly a quizzical look crosses her face - “What’s your name anyway?”she laughs merrily, realizing she doesn’t really care, but will listen to the answer.
Torment shrugs and realizes this is completely pointless.
Spending an hour in meditation, she focuses all of her power into spells of maximized destruction. Taking a deep breath, she grabs her pack and tosses it over her back, then she sets off to find Tamlynn.
Seeing a the chaos and confusion left in the wake of the assassination, she pretty easily follows the signs of struggle that Tamlynn and Elwin left, ending up below the window.
Shouting up to the window - "Tam, if you're still up there, I think it's time that we moved along. I've got a lead to follow."
X was finishing up with cleaning off and polishing his chest up when he heard Tori's voice from outside and decided to follow behind her as he opening the door now covered with shining armor

As the 3 Guards enter the House and find a scene of pure Chaos hysteria and confusion, they look at the old woman and her son, screaming incomprehensible, they look at Tam with her glass jar containing the strange alien-like larva, they look at the bathroom with a dead Halfling on the ground, and they look at Elwin standing right next to him.
Their heads keep turning from one to another, until the Lead Guard speaks out. "Okay, what IN MORADIN'S NAME is going on in here? Everyone's got some serious explaining to do!"
Meanwhile, Tori and X, leaving the Alchemist at the Hanging Chicken (he is obviously still in Shock from the break-in/assassination attempt), make their way to the Grand Marketplace in the Lower Peak, where they find Tam and Elwin in the middle of quite the legal Pickle...
"Well, she was right that THIS--" Elwin jabbed his thumb toward the halfling, "is the guy who just killed Florence Quickblade. The ranger there and I had just gone to him to ask for knife throwing lessons, when this $#!@% bastard shot an arrow through his throat." He kicked the assassin in the side, more for emphasis than to actually hurt him.
"Don't know why she thought I had a hand in it, since we BOTH helped catch the guy."
He then turned to the old mother dwarf and her son.
"Apologies for the mess, we tried to keep him from getting others involved. Don't worry... I'll make sure he compensates you for the damages." He delivered another kick to the assassin's side, this time channeling a bit of his frustration at not being able to keep the miscreant's gold for himself.
Elwin avoided looking at the bottle Tam held. Without knowing where exactly the guard's loyalties lay, it was probably better to not point it out yet.
The young man stepped to the side, raising his hands. "He's all yours. We had to get rough, but no worries, we bandaged him well enough that he'll live to be questioned."
Elwin will still have his shield donned, a large, round buckler strapped to his left arm. He's also still concentrating on his Hex, targeting the assassin's Dexterity, although I presume the halfling is out cold at this point.
Seeing that no one is interested in the bottle, she pulls it back in and pockets it. While Elwin is speaking to the guards and showing them the assassin, she steps behind everyone and makes her way out of the building to Tori and X.
As she quickly pulls up on the duo, she says to Tori, "This adventure has been better than meeting your pops, but not by much. Can we leave now? Oh, and if you ever break up the group again, I'll murder you, puddin'." Tam then slaps her ass and nods at X. Eyeing Tori to make sure she gets the gravity of the situation.
“Oh, there you are!”Torment beams as she leans into the friendly spank.
Her tail curls around Tam’s leg affectionately – “I’d like to see you try, we might have to wrestle to see who kills who!”she says with a cheery laugh.
Looking up at the X, she pats his shoulder.“Don’t worry, I’m not scared of this one. Not even a little bit.”
“I happened to kill an assassin while X and I were out and about, and he was carrying this map”she takes on a conspiratorial tone and motions for them both to lean in. "It looks like one mark on the map indicates the tavern we have already visited… well, the outside of anyway. The other mark is further into town. I think that could be our next stop if everyone agrees.”
Raising an eyebrow, she looks up at Tam – “Where the dickens has the Warlock gotten off to?”
She cups her hands around her mouth and shouts up at the window,“Hey Elwin, let’s get the hell out of here!”
Was that...? It was, he recognized the voice. As the guards approached, he had noticed Tam slip away, and figured she'd found the others.
He had to admit... he really liked the idea of just leaving with everything they had, but the thought of fleeing from the scene, especially after a murder, bothered him. A little. "We should have worn disguises," he sighed to himself as he realized what he was about to do.
"Great, he's now in your custody. That's a load off my mind..." He lowered his hands nonchalantly, then reached up to his chest as if to scratch an itch under his armor.
A few arcane words later, and the spell had been cast. Darkness flooded the room, extending to cover the assassin, the guards, the dwarves and himself. Through the commotion that erupted, he yelled out, "I normally charge for tracking down scoundrels, but this one's on the house!" Without another word, and as silently as he could, he fled through the window and toward the direction he heard Torment shout from.
His mind flashed back to the gold. He could have easily grabbed it in the darkness! He chided himself for a second before violently shoving the thought from his head to focus.
He looked around; all three were present. He spoke as he finally doffed his shield:
"Everyone's here? Good. We found a couple clues, but if you've got another destination, I say we head there right away before the local law chases us down."
Elwin will reach for the crystal under his armor to cast Darkness, which his Devil's Sight allows him to see through. He's going to concentrate on it until the team leaves the area.
Seeing the Warlock appear, she shoots a disgruntled look at Tori, saying, "We too found an assassin, but he murdered our contact in front of us as soon as the G-hole's name was mention. The bastard halfling is currently up there tied and roughed up."
Pulling out the bottle, "I managed to get this off the floor. It was wriggling in his eye...so weird." Then looking to Tori, "You specialize in bugs and weirdness, ever seen something like this before?"
X after hearing about the worm and seeing the bottle then spoke up remembering something similar “wait... wasn’t there something like that in the drunken man’s eyes”
