"Good night, Magus de Marchant," says the sheriff. "And I will see you tomorrow."

With that the sheriff, Dora, and the two Seeker apprentices turn and begin walking in the direction of the sheriff's office.

Heads home.

With Dancing lights spell by main roads. Just keeping a regular eye out.

It is only a short time before Guilliame arrives home to be confronted by a light-less house and a closed front door. He considers giving the prearranged knock [OOC: See here] but as it is several candles passed the time he said he would be home it is likely that Granny Naomi is fast asleep. 

[OOC: Does Guilliame knock and wake her up or try to find some other way to get in; the shop door has no lock and is simply barred from within. This is not a major problem because Guilliame and Granny would have some 'secret' way to get into the house, if necessary, but that would probably involve going around the back or coming in through the roof somehow. I just want to know if you wake her up because you did arrange for her to let you in.]

[OOC So that's it from me on this particular thread until Phill advises me to rejoin? How strict is that? Can I look back to remind myself of names etc? My guess is no because I will see what Guilliame is doing.]

[OOC: Hi Paul. I have no problems with you looking back over the part of this thread where Dora was involved (for names, etc.) and I am likely to link to various posts as reminders anyway, but I would appreciate you not reading earlier posts or posts Andrew and I make beyond this point.]

Quietly do the secret knock on the front door as arranged and wait a few moments.

A few moments pass and then a few more with no sounds of movement from within.

Go to the back door and enter using the secret method.

[OOC: I would like you to make a Dexterity (Area Knowledge) check at Advantage versus a DC of 8 for Guilliame to achieve what he wants to do quietly, so as to not draw attention to himself. Guilliame has a Dexterity bonus of +2 and an Area Knowledge of +2, so the roll is made with a +4. He will get into the house anyway, but considering the time, I need to know if he attracts any unwanted attention.]

[OOC: Our Christmas has been cancelled due to Amy getting a message classing her as a casual contact and telling her to get tested. She and Lucy have gone home and the rest of the family, who were supposed to come tomorrow, now aren't. Our celebration is now being postponed till after the test results come back and will most likely be on the 30th because of Amy's work commitments. Sigh. It has been a tough year.]

OOC Sorry about Christmas celebration. My mum almost got stuck isolating due to a slight cough but we are proceeding as planned hopefully.

Guilliame heads around to the access road that runs up the middle of the block his family's shop is situated in. Then, making sure there is no one looking, he extinguishes his Dancing Lights and slips the blade of his sword through a gap in the fence to lift the bar on the back gate, which gives him access to the backyard of the shop.

The back door is also barred, which was not totally unexpected, so he then does something he hasn't done in a long time and climbs the back wall of the shop to the rooftop drying area where he fortunately finds the rooftop entry has been left unbarred, as he hoped. 

Using his Dancing Lights again, he makes his way downstairs where he finds Granny Naomi asleep at the kitchen table, a burnt-out candle next to her.

Quietly, go to the bedroom. Write a note and place it in front of granny. Go back to bed and sleep.

It has been a long night and so Guilliame falls asleep quickly... only to be awoken by the sounds of traffic in the street. Blearily, he looks up at his shutters to see bright sunlight coming in around the edges.

[OOC: Guilliame can try to get some more sleep, but if he wants to meet up with the sheriff at the time the agreed upon time, he won't be able to get a Long Rest. He can, however, take a Short Rest and use Magical Meditation to recover his magic. There won't be any mechanical disadvantage for not getting enough sleep at this point, but if he has a number of long nights in a row, he will start suffering from Exhaustion, which does have a game mechanical effect (see here).]

Use the short rest and magical meditation to recover magic to full. Have breakfast and apologise to Grannie. Head to the sheriff's office with Identify components and sword .

Guilliame stays in his bed and meditates back his magic, then he dresses and goes downstairs to find that granny has taken herself off to her own bed.

[OOC: Do you still want Guilliame to talk to her, or let her sleep? There is clear evidence that she has read his note.]

Write another note saying "Heading off to the sheriff's office. Will be back when free."
