When Cryovain recoils from Minsys's blows, Connak watches the head swing around in fury. Seeing an opportunity, Connak lets Tink's force arrow fly at an enlarged and enraged eyeball. The arrow strikes true, boring into the skull before disappearing, leaving behind a neat little cylindrical hole into Cryovain's brain pan.
When the head hits the floor, greyish liquid mixed with blood trickles out from the eye socket in a continuous little stream, pooling underneath the corpse.
Even after the reverberating rumble of Cryovain's massive body hitting the stone floor dies out, Tabesha'l continues focusing on her spell for a while longer, fully expecting the great beast to thrash, rise again and resume fighting... until it dawns on her that it really is no longer a threat.
Cryovain, the cruel hunter who terrified Phandalin from the skies, is no more.
She stares in awe at the great unmoving corpse, then back at her companions: first Connak, still holding his bow after the masterful killing shot; then Minsys, his huge hammer stained by Cryovain's blood now resting on the ground, muscular chest still heaving from the fight's exertion and a big, savage grin on his face; Vaxis, a weirdly similar version of the thing that laid in front of them, yet so different both in manners, inclinations... and color, she recalled, seeing the cleric of Bahamut's silvery crest quivering as he stood over their vanquished foe...
" So... It is done !"
The words sounded like they came from far away, yet she realized she'd been the one to utter them, as she turned to face Tink: the strangely deluded yet genial inventor, an elvenblood like herself, like Connak... even if she truly believed to belong to another kind entirely, that did not seem to matter just then. Tabesha'l smiled at the artificer: a genuine, kind and grateful smile.
" I do believe thou hath saved my life this very day, friend Tink. Rest assured I shan't forget it."
As she finished presenting her thanks, the magus bowed her head down as a rare sign of humility and profound respect.

Seeing Cyrovain finally fall, Tink would quickly rush over and fuss over W.H.I.S.K.E.R., making sure the metallic feline is ok. It is only when she is sure that W.H.I.S.K.E.R. is ok that everything finally sinks in. She suddenly plops on to the floor as the adrenaline leaves her body and the gravity of the situation and what they had done hits her. They had fought a dragon and made it out alive. Even then her mind whirs at million miles an hour trying to figure out what kind of new inventions could be sourced from this moment.
It is Tabesha'l's voice that ultimately pulls her back to the present. Slowly climbing back to her feet she grins and gives the elf a thumbs up.
"You are very welcome. It was just what any gnome would do for a friend. So you don't have to worry your head about that. I'm just glad we all made it to the end."

Tabesha'l suddenly starts to feel very strange...as if the tingle of the Weave were on her fingers, yet she was not casting a spell...Then, her cobalt staff began to glow. Softly at first, but then swelling to near blinding light.
A great flash occurred and when the party's sight returned, the spectral image of an ancient white dragon loomed over the lifeless body of Cryovain. Vaxis stood trance-like as he gazed upon the manifestation of his dark passenger, Tabesha'l in shock as she realized she'd been harboring the dead dragon's ghost... Tink, Minsys and Connak readied their weapons, but to what benefit, they were unsure.
"And now, mortal fools, you will witness the rebirth in undeath of Viathirix The Cruel!" The ghost of the ancient white dragon began to settle down into the body of Cryonvain, whose corpse quickly began to rot as the long unfinished ritual to bring Viathirix into lichdom....dracolichdom, to be exact...was about to be completed...
Cryovain's eyes sunk into it's skull, replaced by two glowing red orbs, its hide receded against the skeleton and scales flaked off with bits of flesh. Tabesha'l looked down and saw the runes of her ritual spellbook glowing and smoke pouring from within its pages. A mixture of fear and anger consumed Vaxis as he laid eyes on the archenemy of his entire family line...
The spectral apparition fully dissolved as the sound of Viathirix' evil cackle faded and seconds later the rotten corpse that Cryovain stirred to life once more...or unlife, as it would seem...

Minsys screams with rage at what was going on. It was one thing to see his foe, the one that killed his family, rot to bones but this raising again stuff was not going to fly. He turns to his companions and says, "This foe is beyond any of you. Run." He then heads through the water wall. Raising his radiant maul high he yells at the dragon in rage, "You died once, this time it will stick!" He then swings hard at the rising beast.
The barbarian nods to his companions, raises his maul and charges through the wall of water...a second later the rest of the party hears his battle cry followed by the hiss of Viathirix as Minsys strikes the undead wyrm with all his might!
"By Gond's name! I didn't know that dragons had in built Revival Emergency Boot Operation Omega Tools!"
Tink eyes widen in shock as she sees the dead dragon rises once more. Still she quickly gathers her wits and urges her metallic friend to dash forward before doing so herself.
"Come on girl. One last fight."
Moving forward, she attaches a vial of golden coloured liquid into her gauntlet and proceeds to mist Minsys with it before retreating to safety.
"Stand strong friend Minsys. We have struck a live one down, we now only have to make sure it stays dead."

Tabesha'l strives to control the rising panic and dismay she feels as she watches things unfold in front of her: the fool half-orc was going to be death of them all, they were no match for a dracolich ! Damn these barbarians and their hunger for epic fights !
Her mind raced as she tried to recall a detail, a piece of information, anything that could have escaped her about Viathirix: his desire to rise in undeath, his ploy to masquerade as her quasit familiar, his killing of his own adoptive dragon mother... She could not shake the feeling she'd been chosen and manipulated into having a whole sequence of events come to pass, and that stung. She steeled her resolve: if she was responsible for Viathirix's triumph now, she would have to find a way to make things right !
In her hand, the ritual grimoire she'd found in Butterskull ranch still smoked, showing a last few tendrils: was this the key to the dracolich's powers ? She knew a phylactery was needed for a ritual such as this one to take place, but it usually came in the shape of a gem of a hard container of some kind. Could the evil dragon have managed to imbue a book with that sort of power ? That didn't make sense, unless...

Tabesha'l notices a strange necrotic aura surrounding Viathirix....thinking back to her studies, she recalls that only an ancient or adult true dragon can be transformed into a dracolich. Younger dragons that attempt to undergo the transformation eventually die, as do other creatures that aren’t true dragons but possess the dragon type, such as pseudodragons and wyverns.
Even as the rotted skeleton of Cryovain assumed its new form as Viathirix, the White Death, Tabesha'l sensed that the profane ritual which created the abomination before them may also help destroy it, if only they could outlast the dracolich's wrath...

Each creature within 10 feet of the dracolich must succeed on a DC 21 Dexterity saving throw or take 10 bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone.
