Badger will stay inside the man's head long enough to learn his name and the names of the other Red Wizards in Omu, as well as where in the city they have their base of operations, and then break the connection. He will then turn to his companions and publicly relay all the information to them, flaunting the information he has stolen from the wizard's mind and revelling in the glory of winning the mental battle.
What shall we do with him now? he asks his companions as loudly as possible. Leave him here tied up, and see whether the snake-people find him before the feathered T-Rex? See how far he can run and let Grenk practice his long-range bowmanship?

Badger determines that they are staying at the gate house by the entrance to the city, which they won from the Yuan-ti after leaving the site of the battle with the T-Rex. The only wizards are himself, Dyrax, and his leader Zagmira.
He growls at Badger, "Zagmira will never surrender her cube. Perhaps if we come to some arrangement...after all, we're all, more or less, after the same thing."

Mal will move Marchant away from the Dryax and then question him about the red wizard camp, motioning to anyone else who wants to join in. "How have they been treating you? Are they still as obnoxious as ever and treating everyone like slaves? Have they talked more about what their ultimate plans are going to be? I have my opinion about them but what is your opinion about the wizards, can they be trusted?"
Grenk laughs heartily and then abruptly stops and spits on the ground. "Want the same thing. You think we want to capture the Soul Monger? Laughable. It will die and I should kill you and your filth for even thinking of anything but destroying it."
He finds himself breathing heavy. His anger and rage clearly visible. His fists are clenched and he's near ready to strike him. He throws a punch and then stops his fist just shy of the man's face and then just flicks him hard in the forehead and moves himself several feet away, still in a bad mood.
Marchant shrugs in reply to Mal, "Glad to see you alive after that beast attacked as. I'm still having nightmares about that thing. The Thayans haven't changed. Secretive, hold council only with themselves, and treat everyone like slaves, as you say. Their camp is, as he says, in the gatehouse, though it seems like these Yuan-ti live in this city somewhere...so I wouldn't be surprised if we come back one evening to an ambush. It's a shit situation, but they pay consistently and honestly, I'm in the middle of nowhere with them. Getting back to Nyanzaru by myself from here would be crap journey I'd be lucky to make. So...I'm stuck with them. How about this group you've fallen in with. They seem....strange and pretty cocky and....should I say forthright? But the magic they unleashed on the Yuan-ti was...startling...they're clearly powerful."

Just like a Thayan to propose an alliance ... and just like one to double-cross, too, spits Badger at the wizard. The gnome would not countenance any alliance with the Red Wizards ... but he'll hear what his friends think first.

Responding to Marchant, "They are impressive and if it were not for them, I would have died myself. I was able to make it away from the beast but I was severely injured and had one of those funky diseases this jungle is known for. They also appear to be doing the exact opposite of what the Thayans are doing and to be honest I am good with that as well. I understand your desire to make it back to Nyan and wanting to stick with the Thayans. If my group decides to let the wizard go you might gain some prestige with them if you are able to get the wizard back to his group." Then she will lean in an whisper, "If you are able to I suggest you ditch them as soon as possible. I would hate to see more of my friends perish due to them."
"Enemy of my enemy is an ally but not a friend," Silas recites from his temple lessons before turning to the wizard, "We may share goal, do not believes are friends or we will pretend you could be one. At most we are allies when convenient but we have fought off these Yuan-ti twice and you have been reduced to his state, it would be inconvenient for us. As you have shown yourself incapable of defending yourself, we will take charge of this cube. You are not in any position to protest with any strength if you are as smart as you think you are," Silas will swinging his warhammer over his shoulder and walk walking over to Badger and whisper, "Anything useful? As much as I may not like him, it would be cruel to take away all of his spells,"

Sickle swishes his tail annoyedly at Silas’s mention of giving back the man’s spellbook. Letting him live seems good enough to him, but since he’s verbally incapable, he just continues to stare at the wizard menacingly with his panther eyes.
Marchant to Mal, "I appreciate you looking out for me. My deal with the wizards was always to get them to Omu, but not to help dive into ancient tomb. However they took away my options once we were here. I think I may find someplace to lay low here until someone wants to leave...and I can escort them back to civilization. If you do get things sorted out here, look for me near the gatehouse. I'll keep an eye out for you and get you all back through the jungle alive."
He wanders over to Dyrax, "Good riddance wizard."

Cruel? retorts Badger to Silas. I have no pity for this filth. Return his book and he will continue to turn the power of the Weave to his selfish, evil purposes, caring not who suffers for it. Better to be cruel on the guilty than risk cruelty on the innocent. He has his life, that is more than he deserves.
Then turning back to flipping through the spellbook he continues: Yes, I think I can make use of some of these, although they will take considerable mental effort to decipher.

With the cube and spellbook in your possession, and what seems to only be personal effects and survival gear in the backpack (after a thorough search), minus his coin which amounts to 87 gold, 25 silver, you prepare to leave. Pushing his pack back into his bounds hands, the group turns on their way, leaving the scowling wizard behind. He quickly begins digging for his dagger through the bag so he can unbind himself. Marchant thanks you each, and heads west towards the tree bridge. Just as you get to shouting distance from the wizard you hear, "Thay will not forget what you've done!"
With Sickle in the form of a panther next to you, the group picks their way along the side boulevards until they reach the edge of the lava lake. Again, the sharp tang of sulphur buffets your senses, and the heat flowing upwards from the massive pit ripples the air and smoke that it's pushing upwards into the sky. The column of rock that rises 200 feet above the lava is only 60 feet from the cliffs edge at this point, the closest it gets to the cliffs of the city on the edge of the lava lake. You see a walled compound appears intact upon the summit of the column, with overgrown palms poking out from within. From this angle you can see a monolith that marks the presence of a shrine to the trickster gods. Between you and the shrine is a 200 foot plummet to the lake of lava, though with the steam coming off the nearby river that falls into the lake, plus the burning chemical filled smoky air coming upwards, its difficult to look directly down and see much other than a wavering smear of red, white, and grey.
"I can get myself and one more across, ideally one who would struggle with the method we can determine to use," Silas tugs on his cape, "This is quite dangerous venture no matter how you see it. Should one full in, I doubt can heal them from that,"

Badger looks helplessly across the fiery chasm and mutters to himself. My magic won't transport me that far ... Mandra had magic enough to fly ... If only I could sprout wings, what manner of magic would that require? ...
Finally he says: Neither this book nor my own possess the necessary spells to transport us all across. Silas, your cape is the only way, although I suspect it contains sufficient daily power for only one journey.

Then one person crosses at a time with a rope attached around the waist so if they fall we can catch them with it. the second to last person holds the rope on the far side and then I'll go last so if I fall, i fall to far side."
