Grenk initiative 7

The gray frog, slobbering and looking more than a little 'insane' continues swinging down it's greatsword at Badger Attack: 26 Damage: 14, then swings at Mal ... Attack: 18 Damage: 12 ... then attempts to bite Badger with his slobbering jaws...Attack: 23 Damage: 5!  

All the meanwhile in your heads you hear, "KEEP ME HERE?  BORING NO MOVING SPOT FOR HOW LONG?  BLOOD WILL COVER YOUR ALTER!  DIE LICH SERVANTS!"

You'd consider trying to talk to him, were he not clearly seemingly totally mad.

Mal curses as the blade bites deeply into her as she stands up bringing her crossbow to bear and fires.

H. Crossbow: Attack: 30 Damage: 21

Sneak Attack on 1st hit: 6 (Crit Damage: 6)

She will also use a Maneuvers: Trip Attack on the 1st hit that strikes: Adding 2 (Due to crit) and the creature, if large or smaller needs to make a STR DC 17 save or be tripped and be prone.

"Badger get back!" Grenk roars and releases a curse of binding on the creature.  He then moves forward to attack it while saying, "We don't" swing, "follow no" swing,  "Lich."

Bonus action: blood curse of binding.  He needs a strength save of 13 or it's speed is reduced to 0 and can't take reactions.  

Attack: 14 Damage: 8 + 7 fire + 1

Attack: 27 Damage: 5 + 6 fire + 4

Badger's magic armor isn't enough to prevent the next sword swing and the bite, and his blood starts to spread over his Chultan robe. Thinking quickly, the wizard conjures an image of himself, prone and bleeding, in the same location that he currently stands. The moment the image forms, Badger shouts a magic word and vanishes from the circle, to reappear on the far side of the room behind the sight of the frog-creature. 

"Hold steady, hold fast, hold still," Silas casts Hold Monster

Wis Save: 16

Mal shoots two arrows that stab into the creature with wet thuds...it gurgles a bit in rage as they jam into it.  Then Grenk leaps into action, his blade slashing it once, but the second attack is turned aside by the creatures blade.  Badger...blood seeping from his wounds, weaves magic but nothing appears to happen...

Then Silas steps forward and his magic wraps forward toward the creature...7...entangling it, but it's demonic heritage shrugs off the magic with a grimace. 

Sickle moves at an angle...and then mutters some words and magic shimmers around him, and a lightning bolt rips through the creature. 18 vs DC 16 or take half from 33 lightning damage.

The lightning blasts the creature, though it ducks out of the way of the worst of it, and then rest seems to have a reduced affect on him as lightning crackles over his skin. 

You see some of the wounds you've inflicted on the creature healing as it fights...  

The creature responds, "RAWWRR, KILL YOU ALL!!!" and begins muttering arcane words...and attempts to unleash a fireball, filling the room with fire, including itself....30 DC 14 Dex save for half.  

Silas Dex Save: 17

Silas will cast Cure Wounds at level 1 on himself and trying to put distance between him and froggie.

Healing: 7

Mal Dex Save: 15

Mal grimaces as she pats out the flames spreading across her clothes as she reloads her crossbow and continues to fire, yelling out, "Why is it healing who knows anything about this creature?"

H. Crossbow: Attack: 25 Damage: 12

H. Crossbow: Attack: 28 Damage: 8

Not sure if anyone else is in melee combat with it but if they are sneak attack: 7

The first hit that strikes I will use a Maneuver - Pushing Attack: Damage: 2 STR DC 17 or be pushed back 15'

If the pushing attack fails I will use my bonus action to Disengage and move back into a corner away from the thing.

And then will use my Action Surge to fire off two more bolts at the creature.

H. Crossbow: Attack: 28 Damage: 7

 And on the last hit I will attempt another Maneuver - Trip Attack: Damage: 6 STR Save 17 or be knocked prone.

Grenk sees the creature trying to cast a spell and strikes out at it.  He then turns his shield to deflect the flames and continues his assault.  He hacks twice and slams it with his shield.

Lots to unpack here...mage Slayer and shield master feat.

Reaction  attack against spell cast within 5ft of him.

Attack: 23 Damage: 5 + 4 fire + 3 radiant

Dex save and if successful no damage from shield Master feat  21

Attack: 25 Damage: 7 + 7 fire + 1 radiant

Bonus action shove with shield to knock prone

Contested athletic/acrobatic check or be prone 25

So with two crits add 15 fire and 9 radiant 

Badger DEX save: 14

Breathing raggedly, Badger will Disengage from the fiend's reach and move as far away as possible (back out the door if its not blocked).

The mighty strikes from Ketch and an onslaught of arrows from Mal, not to mention it's own fireball....is way too much for the demonic frog who collapses in a pile of gooey frog remains....leaking stinky fluids everywhere....

Badger, has withdrawn back into the passage, looking charred and stabbed...

(combat is over)

Grenk stands above the gooey remains and lets out a mighty roar.   He huffs and puffs for a few moments and them steps back.  "Right, so that was a thing.  Everyone okay?"

"I am fine for now." As Mal moves to the sarcophagus and starts to search it for traps and then will open it if he does not detect any traps.

Perception: 16

Mal doesn't detect any traps, and removes the statues from the lid before heaving it off.  It's heavy, but she gets it done.  Inside, she spots a clay urn with a stopper, a potion wrapped in a piece of cloth, and what looks like a petrified egg.  It glows with magic. 

Badger simply groans in response to Grenk's query, and slumps down in the corridor, breathing heavily. After resting a moment or two, he looks around to try to determine what might have caused the sudden wind... Investigation? 29

Badger frowns, looking around puzzled. There is no obvious source of the wind....except the hallway.  There is that weird bottle back in the hallway, and the secret door was open.  Grenk had been standing just inside the doorway.  Obo'laka whispers to him, "It was that damned I'jin. He must have caused that wind and almost got you killed....I know it..."

Mal will look around to see if anyone is paying attention and then will reach down and grab the potion and the egg, pocketing both of them. "Badger, need you to check out what is inside this sarcophagus, seems to be some kind of sealed urn."

While the party is investigating, poking around and what else, Silas will take a corner and starts casting Prayer of Healing.
