How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Kasaaptu raises the alarm, casting her spell to make her voice louder, shouting to the group. Everyone is abruptly woken by Kasaaptu's loud voice shouting the alarm. She then takes a few quick steps to the opposite side of the camp. A large bonfire erupts a dozen feet outside the east side of the camp. The blue mist swirls in eddies from the heat of the flames, but doesn't seem to ignite. The layer of fog covering the entire side of the jungle continues it's slithering, silent advance, creeping between trees and bushes. It seems to progress around the fire, not being stopped by it, but also swirling around it's outsides rather than going through the flames. You figure standing in the fire you would probably be safe, but otherwise it doesn't help. Kasaaptu finds a tree that's relatively easy to climb and scampers up the side onto a higher branch that is fifteen feet up and well away from the crawling mist.
Badger awakes abruptly, looking around before figuring out the situation and summoning magic to him, his body vanishes and appears on a large branch high up in the trees.
Kasaaptu's Hammu pulls at his ties to distance himself from the unpleasant fire, but will soon be enveloped by the mist. The rest of the group is waking up. Gregory, Boris, and Sedrik all hop out of their hammocks and look to Sir Darak for direction. Azaka sees the mist and repeats, "To the trees!". She runs up the trunk of a tree and leaps gracefully to a high branch, pulling herself up easily, turning to look around.
Sir Darak Darkhall: Awakened abruptly by the sudden booming voice of Kasaaptu, Darak draws Onyx as he scrambles from his tent. Seeing no immediate danger, the Knight quickly surveys the area, seeking the cause of the alarm. Noticing the blue fog approaching and Asaka scurrying up the nearest tree, he turns to his Retainers and shouts, "Climb!"
Darak then slashes Hammu's tether before slapping the beast's rear with the flat of his blade. As the beast runs off, he chooses the largest nearby tree and begins to climb, lowering down his rope before tying if off on a stout branch.
"What in the world!? Are we under attack?" Silas scrambles out of his hammock before he comprehend what he was told and scrambles up one of the trees his hammock was tied to. If he can get clear of the fog, he would like to examine it to determine it's nature.

Sickle rolls out of his hammock, with his tent set over the top of it as he had learned from Kasaaptu, and looked around wildly for danger. He saw the mist moving in, and heard Kasaaptu calling from above, and he ran towards the nearest large tree. As he ran, anyone watching would have seen a curious transformation take place, as he almost seemed to fall forward as he ran, his hands morophing into thick paws, and his body transforming itself into a hairy feline form. Sickle, now in the form of a mountain lion (Panther) uses his clawed paws now to scramble up the nearest tree (climb speed 40 feet)
Hammu, freed from his tether, is slapped on it's leathery hide by the flat of a blade. The creature turns and growls at Sir Darak. Sir Darak looks at the 500 pound scale covered, bipedal dinosaur. Not a horse, he thinks to himself abruptly. There's only so much you can do for animals though. (Sir Darak, feel free to interject another action or two here, the mist is not moving so fast as to make you flee immediately). Then Sir Darak grabs for the nearest tree and hefts himself up it. Gregory, Sedrik and Boris follow suit. A Panther tears up the side of a tree and reaches a perch. Seeing the situation, the orc Yroc also pulls himself up into a tree.
Only the dinosaur is left on the ground, and realizing that it's free, it regards the mist and slowly stomps away from it towards the river.
The blue mist slithers about five feet off the ground, across a wide swath of jungle, slowly advancing. Anyone hefted up into a tree is well above it's creeping presence.
Silas examines it. It's certainly not natural. There is no wind pushing it, it seems to be pushing its way through the jungle of it's own volition. Flowers close up on it's approach, and he notes that insects don't seem to react in any special way to the mist.
The mist creeps along, eventually filling the whole forest floor beneath the group. The jungle is silent as the party waits. In the distance the party can see the mist reaching the edge of the river where it seems to hit an invisible barrier and begin flowing both up and down the edge of the river. It's perhaps 30 minutes later that the mist finally thins, the last of it's wisps drawn away.
Kasaaptu finds Hammu wandering between camp and the river. Unless he'd gone into the water, which he hadn't because he appears to be mostly dry, he most certainly must have been caught in the mist, but doesn't seem any the worse for wear.
Heading back down into the jungle from the tree tops, the mist does not appear to have left any sort of residue behind, and all your tents and equipment seem to be intact and untouched by the stuff.

Hammu is tracked down and returned to camp. As everyone is packing up their bags for the evening, Sickle summons the power of the forest and earth to him, funnelling it into his senses to detect the corruption of poison or disease. As usual, it's a riot of different disease and poison all around, but focusing on his allies he determines they're all free of disease, however when he turns his attention to Hammu he detects that the creature is infected with some sort of disease. He focuses on it to try and determine the type....realizing it's unnatural, and seems to be an affliction of the mind.
(Let me know what you do to try and deal with that, if anything. Hammu does not appear to be acting any differently.)
The party breaks camp and pushes on, continuing south. Twice during the day you're forced to follow branches of the river to find crossings, once Azaka actually gets the party to turn around, realizing that a secondary water way she'd be following was the wrong on. The rivers, water ways, and swampy areas in this jungle almost feel like they out match the amount of dry land most of the time. Azaka mentions that the jungle away from the rivers can be a lot drier. Even she seems overwhelmed by the task of traversing so much water. Part way through the day, (unless the party did anything about it), Hammu starts to follow Kasaaptu more closely. He seems to continually be right beside her, often nudging her with his snout. He frequently scans the surroundings, huffs a bit, and then rubs himself against Kasaaptu. The first three times its endearing, then it gets rather annoying having a dinosaur snout constantly in your face. Attempts to get him to stop cause him to act in an agitated fashion.
That afternoon a light rain falls. Azaka has the party pull out the rain catchers to replenish water skins and the water barrel. The head returns after, like a sweltering and humid wall of air. The party continues to apply their bug repellant, lending some to Yroc. The insects stayed away when he was near the frogs, but now they were getting nasty so the salve was appreciated. The party also continues to stay well hydrated, drinking water consistently throughout the day.
That evening the group makes camp, no near death experiences aside from the mornings mist. The evening passes uneventfully and by morning Hammu has stopped being weird. When Sickle checks, his disease is gone. The next day the slog continues, wading through rivers, stomping through ankle deep mud, pressing and chopping through thick underbrush, and keeping a constant watch out. Monkey's are seen in the trees but don't approach. Snakes, lizards, spiders, ants, are all seen. At some point you see a massive triceritops pressing through the jungle with a young one behind it, but it avoids your group, making it's way away from the group quickly.
That night, you set camp and praise yet another day free from any sort of violent or dangerous run ins. The boots you're all wearing are the most valuable piece of gear you think you own. Azaka was right to have you purchase these special tight boots that don't need to be emptied of water every time you walk through a creek, that slough off mud and gunk easily, and that seem to get relatively dry relatively quickly. Still, at night she suggests they all get dried by the fire and cleaned as well as possible, she gives you all tips in keeping them well maintained, including doing a bit of sewing on a few when leather pulls away from it's threading.
The next morning their is a light mist as the group presses on. It's only an hour into the day, the mist is done, when Sickle, you press a hand against a leaf to push it away and feel a sticky film. You absently bring your hand up to look at it and see thin threads of sticky spider webbing on it. You look up and notice that there are webs all through the jungle around you, and ahead it seems to be getting more thick. You call a halt. Everyone looks around and sees the webbing is throughout this part of the jungle. Tiny spiders, and many not-so-tiny spiders crawl around on the webs. Above, looking up, you see hidden in the shadows the whole jungle is full of webbing. Several rather large spiders, a couple feet across, hunch, silently observing the group from their webs. The group stands motionless for a moment glancing around and becoming aware of the situation.
From through the bushes above, four massive spiders, the size of a pony explode from cover above the party.
Everyone roll initiative. Let me know what you plan to do with your first action. The spiders are out of melee range until they drop from above on their turns.
