Stannic follows the Guard as he leads the way to get an ID Card, looking in amazement at the city and crowds along the way “Why does one need this card? Does it control access to the city? How do so many people live here, surrounded by stone? Do you have a grove or green space within the city?” Stannic is full of questions, but he follows the guard and responds to any instructions necessary to get his card.
@ Gimble, the mood is fairly calm, people having drinks, its not a merry time, but people dont seem sad or depressed either. You get an unpleasant aura emanating from Grista. It seems as though Mr. Chin hasnt noticed you. Grista is wiping a mug. Grista: (to Gimble) "He's here, whether or not he wants you to bother him while eating, I can't say." She says as pointing to him in at the table in the dark corner.
@ Stannic, City Guard: (to Stannic) "I believe the original purpose was allowing typically hostile races a chance to live among us. It does serve as proof of who you are. Lots of liars and magicers out there. Truth be told, people could just steal those cards, but Im not the one who makes the rules. I'm sure theres some logic to it. For all I know theres a spell put into those cards. Cities have always had large populations, but how they've risen so high is due to the great war. People fled to the big cities to hide behind their walls. Not wanting to get caught up in the fighting being out in the open. Or so it is said, Its not like I was around back then. Nope, you'd have to get out of the city to see some green. I mean people got plants and such, but nothing that would make a druid happy. You're not one of them types are ya? Well your an elf, maybe its because you elves love the woods. The Triboar Trail is right there. Conyberry and ThunderTree are towns within those woods. "Can't say for sure if we made the land around here any safer or not." Misty replies to the innkeep with a shrug of her shoulders. "We did find a few things to see if we can sell here in town, but nothing overly large as far as treasure goes." She orders the wine that comes with the room. As the innkeep moves away to get that, she listens in, trying to overhear anything of note...
Perception roll is an 11, so doubt if she gets much...
“Wow, so I guess I shouldn’t lose my card, then” Stannic follows the guard into the ID building and follows any instructions necessary to get his card. He treats his card as a valued item and looks at it proudly, being sure to secure it in his belt pouch, before asking directions to the Stone Hill Inn.
(Up to the DM. I am happy to skip forward to the inn.)
"I will be heading to the temple of Tyr for some news, as well" Casmir tells the group. "I will meet you back at the Inn."
@ Casmir, You let your companions know where you are going and you head to the Temple of Tyr. Upon entering the temple you are greeted by a human, Mor Bunav. You've seen him around the temple before but do not know him very well. Mor Bunav: (to Casmir) "Welcome back, Casmir. We've heard tales of your adventures. Have you come to pray, or perhaps you are going to give another generous donation." As you enter the temple you do notice people staying in. People staying at the church is not uncommon, but it does catch your eye. The number of people is not a lot so it is unlikely that anything serious is going on.
"Thank you Mor. It is always good to be back in Tyr's house. I have come to pray and learn of what happened in my absence. I will come back later with my donation." Casmir gestures at the people staying in and continues "Speaking of which, there seems to be a little more interest inTyr's kindness than I remember from last time..."
(OOC: Casmir will donate 10% of his share to the temple after the math is done)
@ Gimble, Grista: (to Gimble) "Ask less questions." She grumbles.
@ Misty, Toblen quickly fetches your wine. You manage to hear a conversation: Freda: (to Utliz) "So how's adventuring going? You helping to make the city a safer place?" Utliz: (to Freda) "Well, I'm still new at this sort of thing." You also notice Stannic entering the building.
@ Stannic, The Guard gets you to the I.D. building, You meet with one of the works, they give you an exam, its quick and mostly painless. You get your card and are free to go. You eventually get back to the Stonehill Inn. People are eating, drinking and talking. Elsa the server is going around to the tables and helping the customers. You see Misty at one of the tables.
@ Casmir, Mor Bunav: (to Casmir) "Yes, mostly refugees i'm afraid. Coming from one problem or another. Nothing really new has changed, I was hoping you might bring good news. What good have you brought in your adventures? Perhaps some of these refugees can safely returned home if you eliminated a problem."

Misty takes note of the conversation with Utliz, but does not make any move in that direction. She sips her wine until she spots Stannic come in. "Over here." Misty calls out, waving to Stannic.
@ Gimble, Mr. Chin: (to Gimble) "Yes, come sit. You got news? Perhaps you found that ancient treasure you spoke of. If you did I could probably line up a buyer in a week or less." He continues to eat while listening to your response.
Gimble moves to take a seat at the table, making sure to keep his gold pouch close to chest.
Thanks for seeing me, I will attempt to be brief. (OOC Gimble idea of brief is speaking many words fast lol)
First, no, we didn’t come across the treasure. Our intel must have been bad, just some busted up merchant. However, you were correct on the goblin stronghold being heavily defended. As requested we eliminated all the goblins defending the castle. We eventually came across a goblin king who seemed to be working with a drow. The odd thing is that it wasn’t a drow. Once it was killed, it’s clothes disappeared and it’s appearance changed into something unidentifiable. Even it’s bugbear ally seemed to be surprised by that. We did get a name of whoever is running the show, ‘Black Spider.’ Perhaps he’s the other group you were thinking is looking into this city.
Second, I was thinking about the two options you gave me as far as working more in your outfit. While I’m looking for a perfect opportunity for the first option (OOC arrested with intel) I was curious about the option of being your voice. In Nisras I was trained in intelligence and espionage. I don’t know if that’s helpful to your organization or not, but I was thinking it may fit. If not, I may find I’ll be able to use those skills while in the Crowns Guardians.
Lastly, we talked about equipment before. You showed me an amazing dagger. But you also asked about my favorite weapon of choice. I don’t like to get close and dirty if possible. I utilize daggers and a hand crossbow. Something tells me that dagger you showed me would be great for up close, but may not quite fit my fighting style. Am I correct in that?”
And with that Gimble exhales and inhales as if he had said everything in a single breath and awaited Mr. Chin’s response. He also takes the moment to continue keeping an eye on his surroundings.
@ Gimble, Mr. Chin: (to Gimble) "Very good. Thats a lot to process at once. You cleared the castle, very good. Here is the 600 gold as promised..." He puts down his utensils and digs around in his pockets. He then plops the big bag of gold on an empty spot of the table. "Feel free to count it. Black spider... I'll have my people see what they can dig up. This spider character was able to get the goblins to raid the merchants... but why i wonder. I haven't heard of anyone profiting off the raids, except the bandits, but thats cause they are raiding the merchants. I will do what I can on my end, but if you could figure out this spider's goal, or if possible capture him alive, I would very much appreciate that."
"Hmm, I'm not sure I trust you enough to be a field agent just yet. But being my voice/messenger boy, I actually procured a little gift for that job you can have." He grabs an item that was next to him. You did not notice before due to the lighting of the table. He hands it to you. "This satchel will have letters in it, i expect you to deliver them in a timely fashion as you notice them appearing. Yes, appearing. This is a magic satchel. I expect you to not read the letters, and if for some reason you cannot deliver a letter, please write a letter explaining that and put it in the satchel. That is interesting that you were a spy for the dwarves, why'd they let you go i wonder? Is it because you weren't a good spy? or maybe its because you are not a dwarf. Maybe you were smart enough to know that you shouldnt work with dwarves. Everything is clan and honor with them. I try to keep my business above ground. If its not a dwarf sticking their nose in your business when you are underground, its a kobold. You plan on joining the Crown's Guardians? Thats not worth the trouble to me. If The Guardians are after me thats that. The whole point of business is staying in the dark. Its why I didnt want the RedBrands to be destroyed as they were. I wont stop you from joining or working for the Guardians, but i'll let you know now I'm not interested in buying information you might take from them." (OOC: You may add a Documancy Satchel Rank 2 to your inventory. If you want I can add it to your characters inventory if thats easier for you.)
"That Dagger I showed you works like any other dagger, just a bit more special. Like I first advertised, its best used for revenge. Someone who really wronged or hurt you, you use it, and they will suffer even after they are dead. It is hard to come by and it is expensive. It sounds like you are less interested in it. No worries, I'll find a buyer or a use for it. If you did still want it, its still 502 gold."
Mr. Chin continues to eat. He motions to Zefwyn, the halfling server, to bring him another drink.
You do have your eyes peeled, but they have trouble focusing on anything other than the conversation with Mr. Chin. Most of the patrons of the bar do not look in his direction.

You do have your eyes peeled, but they have trouble focusing on anything other than the conversation with Mr. Chin. Most of the patrons of the bar do not look in his direction.
Gimble does indeed begin to count. He feels safe enough that no one would interrupt Mr Chin’s business arrangement. Once the count is complete he responds to Mr. Chin.
”I thank you for the opportunity to do business. Let me know if another job along that line pops up. I’m working with a pretty solid mix of people. I’ll keep you posted on the Black Spider, and please let me know if you are able to dig anything up.
As for being the voice for you, I appreciate the opportunity. If I understand you correctly, this satchel will have a letter to deliver. If I can’t deliver it, for instance, I’m out of the city for a period of time, I can just drop a note back in the satchel letting you know?”
Gimble begins attaching the bag to his belt in order to keep it close. (OOC could you please put that in there? I didn’t even know you could)
“I didn’t get an opportunity at a job. Training was completed, but as you say, I’m obviously no dwarf. Maybe I was to quick and hasty in leaving to soon to find out. But sometimes, one needs to explore a bit before finding a place to settle down into business. I assume you can understand that one.
As for the dagger, I get a thrill out of being on the cusp of something dangerous, I enjoy living with certain comforts. But revenge is not something I look to. Maybe a day may come, but for now, something more along the lines of aiding in my fighting style would be better appreciated.
I have nothing else for you Mr Chin. I don’t wish to take up more of your time. Unless you have anything else for me, I’ll let you be.”
@ Gimble, (OOC: I have access to everyone in the campaign's character sheet, I generally dont touch, but in this case I did add the item.) Mr. Chin: (to Gimble) "Very good, This will probably be the last face to face for a while, just pay attention to that satchel and the letters will explain themselves. Now I'm going to finish my meal, have a good day." Mr. Chin goes back to eating.

Gimble thanks Mr Chin again, then moves to the bar. He goes back to Grista.
“You seem to be having a kind of day. I hope it gets better.” He leaves 10gp on the bar in front of her and with not another word, he leaves.
Once outside, his stomach growling at him, he checks his surroundings and heads in the direction of the inn to meet up with the others. Keeping both his gold pouch and new satchel buried deep in layers and close to chest.
Stannic’s face beams with recognition as he hears Misty’s voice and spots her across the tavern room. It had been an interesting journey here, weaving through the crowded streets, but he was only lost a few times, and people were generally kind enough to point out the direction of the Stone Hill Inn.
“Thank goodness I found you, or you found me! Did you know I did not pass a single tree on the way over here? Nothing bigger than a patch of weeds. Have the others arrived yet? I am starving” As the server comes by the table, Stannic orders a vegetable soup or similar menu item.
@ Stannic, Elsa the barmaid comes by, when you make your order. Elsa: (to Stannic) "Do you have a room or are you just buying a meal?" (OOC: its 1 gp for a room, 5 sp for the meal by itself.)

(OOC: You may add a Documancy Satchel Rank 2 to your inventory.

I wont stop you from joining or working for the Guardians, but i'll let you know now I'm not interested in buying information you might take from them." Gimble does indeed begin to count.
@ everyone else, (OOC: read previous posts.)

@ Gimble, You make it back to the Stonehill Inn, You see Misty and Stannic sitting together, Elsa just arrived at their table.
@ everyone else, (OOC: read previous posts.)

Gimble goes to sit down, saying hello as he does so. To Elsa, he says, “I’ll take a room and a meal please.”
“Stannic I see you got your card alright.”
