"Well, the damaged towers leave us some great options for entering in my opinion but it would take some stealth to really get in among the shifting debris. The back door is an option but I bet it will be locked. We could also try climbing some of those plants by the back door too to try and get in from the top of the place. Whatever we choose, we face a lot more numbers but in a cramped area so we can do some things to block them off," Gniff details as he eats a few berries and feeds some to Quinn.
Quinn happily eats out of your hand. But he does give nervous looks to the castle, even at this distance.

Gimble asks Misty, “Does your owl see any paths that may be used by the goblin for patrols? We may be able to use those same paths to stay away from traps outside the towers.”
A tall half-elf wearing a faded green travelling cloak approaches the party as they are huddled together along the trail. HIs blue eyes blink in surprise when he notices you. “Well met, travelers! I am Stannic. How goes your journey?” He suddenly bends over and grabs a discarded feather off of the ground, muttering to himself before sticking the feather into a crevice of his worn leather armor, which is adorned with shells and other tokens. Leaning against his staff, he refocuses his gaze back on the group and just then notices a halfling feeding berries to a deer. “Hello, good sir”, he nods to the halfling “that is a noble friend you have there.” Turning to the rest of the group, he asks “What brings you to these woods?”
A pretty chestnut-haired woman stands with ehr eyes closed, face turned up to the sky. She wears half plate armor over a long tunic. At ehr waist is a rapier and crossbow, with a component pouch on her opposite hip. She does not respond to the greeting of this newcomver, her attention clearly focused elsewhere. (Misty still would have no idea of anything going on here, not until someone nudges her to let her know.)
The lavender-skinned tiefling in chain mail moves his hand away from his war hammer's handle, lowers his shield and relaxes his stance. A holy symbol of Tyr is prominently visible on the shield, marking him as a militant follower of the god.
"Well met, Stannic. I'm Casmir, and I'm sure glad you're not a goblin." He then turns to Misty and nudges her gently: "we have guests"
A rock gnome wearing deep gray and black studded leathers, turns about, daggers in hand, at the sound of an unknown voice. Once seeing no threat, he sheaths the daggers and quietly says, “We’re here because we have been assigned to take out some unruly goblins. Now unless you want to give us away, keep your voice down. And unless you desire a fight, pointing in the direction of the tower, I suggest ya leave.”
Gimble intentionally does not give his name and turns back to eye the fortress.
The slightly dirty halfling gives Stannic a big smile and a wave, "Hi Stannic! Well met! To be honest, we are on a specific mission concerning some Goblins.
"Perhaps we could ensure that you are not a vile brigand of the Red Brand variety however. No offense or anything but we have not had much luck in certain areas. So," Gniff starts and gives a serious look, "Are you a Red Brand Bandit?
“My goodness, goblins and bandits” he chuckles. “Your group certainly runs in exciting circles. No, I am neither and based on the look of Master Gnome, I should be lucky that I am not. Just a seeker of wisdom and harmony. Now, these unruly goblins, what have they done to incur your wrath?”
The beautiful chestnut-haired Misty opens her eyes and glances around. Those brilliant blue eyes land on the half-elf and narrow, a hand reaching for the fancy longsword at her side. The hand pauses as she sees that no one else seems alarmed or drawing weapons. Misty gives the newcomer a raised eyebrow.
"Sorry, i was scouting through my familiar's senses, so may have missed your name." She says with a glance to her companions. "We are the Fated Eight, though that name should likely be changed here at some point. I am Misty..." She catches the last of the conversation concerning the goblins. "As to what the goblins did, they kidnapped a dwarf we are looking to rescue, and were attacking caravans bound for Phandalin."
“A kidnapped dwarf, caravans in distress, no, that is not right at all, those poor souls..” he mutters. He turns to Misty “The pleasure is mine, Misty. My name is Stannic. And while I was not looking for a fight,” He stares at the gnome, “I do not shy from one when needed either.” He offers a deep bow “My skills, limited such as they may be, are at your and your companions service, if you will have me. I can provide some aid with healing, may be able to help you approach the castle without being noticed, and I am not without other talents as well”
Misty looks at the half-elf for a long moment. "Very well, we can't exactly turn down help when offered." She glances to the rest of the group. "Anyone have an issue with him joining us, at least for the castle here, we can always reconsider things after that is done, if things aren't working out." She smiles at the half elf as she turns back to him. "You could always be one of those damned redbrand bandits in disguise after all, and we have had more than enough trouble with them up to this point."

“Well, if it’s one more for the fight, sure,” Gimble says quietly without turning his head. “Names Gimble, pleasure, I’m sure. Shall we get a move on? Misty, was the owl able to see patrols or paths of any sort? Otherwise we may have to search for traps along the way. As far as which way to go in, my votes for the hobgoblin quarters.”
