Finnian stays close to the light, and by extension, Gniff. Never the stealthiest man either way, he does not try to stealth, and simply focuses on keeping an eye out for movement deeper in the cave.
Gimble and Gerrack you enter a section of the cave where you see six wolves chained up, as you enter this section they turn and start barking at you.
(OOC: because its a small cramped map i'm having the rest of the party sort of still at the beginning of the cave so that it Gimble and Gerrack are still ahead of the party.)
Edmond, you get the feeling this cave is more like a series of tunnels than a big open cave. You can tell that it does have bigger wider chambers from the echos of water drops and other sounds. You see that Gimble and Gerrack have stopped, they must have found the source of the barking.
Gerrack, no sign of any traps, unless these wolves are a trap, the wolves are individually chained and appear to be blocking a steep smaller tunnel leading deeper into the cave.
Gniff, Misty, and Finnian, you can see pretty well thanks to the light spell and the torch. You all can see that the path in the cave starts to turn towards the right, but you can see that there is another pass across the river on the left.
Hati and Conrick, (OOC: i am awaiting your next posts, to make sure you are just following the rest of the party or if you are doing something else.)
Hati, (OOC: read the spoiler)
The sounds coming from the wolves reminds you of the dream. As well as the words from the dream... "...Knowing what to do is part of the test. Destroy, Free, Kill. Destroy... Free.. Kill..."
As Gimble calls Gniff over, Gerrack observes the wolves. His eyes widen and he stiffens as he recognizes the look in each of the animals: wild-eyed, ferocious, and somewhat desperate. Wolves, like all creatures, were meant to run free, not be chained to one place to suffer; as a creature of the air, Gerrack understands that too well. He also is somewhat familiar with the feral look they give off.
Crouching down, well away from the reach of the snapping wolves, he simply waits there quietly and stares into their eyes, feeling an odd sort of kinship with each of the wolves' desperation and fury. Something about his still manner may actually be affecting the wolves as well, for it seems to be aiding with whatever Gniff was trying to attempt with his ritual.
(Gerrack is helping Gniff with whatever he's doing to the wolves.)
Hearing his name, Gniff moves up the tunnel to the two scouts, "Thanks, I will see what I can do." The halfling boldly steps into the room, the barking a cacophony of sound in the small room. He approaches slow but bold, his arms out to his sides.
"Hello friends, do not be angry. We are not here for you, let us talk." He is speaking to the wolves in a confident tone, not showing fear. and trying to use animal handling to placate them. It is usually for domesticated animals but getting a dog to back down from aggression is similar to a wolf though not quite.

Saw that Gerrack was helping after i posted. Here is my second roll in case: 22

the wolves stopped as soon as your spell took affect and your words became understandable to the wolves and the wolves barks became understandable to you.
Wolf 1: (to Gniff) "Friend? You are not part of our pack. Not friend. We are trapped here by the funny green creatures.
Wolf 2: (to Gniff) "Hungry, Did you bring food? do you know where food is? are you food?"
Wolf 3: (to wolf pack) "This two leg creature talks like us, maybe it is friend."
Hati flies over.
All the wolves look over when he does. But then they return to looking and "barking" at Gniff.
With exception, Wolf 4 watches Hati. Wolf 5 looks back at Gerrack who was looking into its eyes.

Without looking away from the fifth wolf, Gerrack says: "We should free them, even if they attack us. Anything would be better for these creatures than to live in this miserable slavery." It might be because he's simply focused on the wolves rather than the rest of the party, but Gerrack's voice is surprisingly firm and free of any stutters.
He nods at Gniff's question, taking some dried meat out of his pack (1 ration) and handing it over.
Gniff accepts the food from Gerrack and although he seems like he wants to smile doesn't, because he doesn't want the wolves to think he is barring his teeth.
Wolf 1: (to Gniff) "You free us and we will not attack you."
Wolf 1 turns to the rest. Wolf 1 snarls at them. Wolf 1: (to the wolves) "No attack two legs."
the wolves sit in their spots waiting. Wolf 2 and 6 are trying to sniff the food in Gniff's hands.
Wolf 4 is still watching Hati. the rest are calmly waiting freedom..
the wolves are chained to iron rods that are sticking out of the ground. both the chains and the rods do not look in very good condition. they are likely things that the goblins have scavenged or taken from traveling merchants.

Gniff speaks to the group, " They won't attack us if we free them, I want everyone's opinion before I do because I am the new person here. I vote to release and it seems like Gerrack does too." He waits to hear from the group.
He does give a long glance at Hati and the wolf nearest him. He sees the connection, something is happening there and it may be a great thing he thinks
Animal Handling 22 because he's about to hand out some food
Edmond, handing out some jerky to the captives, says to all - Aye. Let's set these wolves free. All we ask is leave to clear out this nest of Goblins. He moves closer to the lead wolf, looking at the chain, taking it's measure with a pull (Investigation18) If I do this with my Warhammer it'll be louder in here than that thunderclap earlier. Gniff, can you please help me pull the chains apart, instead?Strength 6
Gimble walks up and says, “If you can promise me I won’t be eaten, I can try to pick the lock. It may be a bit quieter if I’m successful....and if I’m not you can hammer away.”
Finnian gives the wolves, and Gniff, a somewhat dubious look. Then he shrugs and says, "Long as ye're certain that they won't turn on us, sure, we can free them. If it's all the same to you though, I'll be standin' clear." The wizard moves off to the side to stay clear of the wolves and out of their way should they go running out. While the others figure out how to free the wolves, Finnian draws out his spellbook and idly thumbs through a few pages. Soon, very soon, he'll need to make a few adjustments to it...

Edmond, You look over at the wolves, they are all identical to you.
You go over to hand one some food, you think, maybe i should equally distribute it, so you make perfect even pieces (presumably of a ration.) enough for each wolf, and you both present it and place it in a manner in which the wolves do not get offended.
(OOC: you do not know the lead wolf based on your insight roll [DM's comment, not asking Gniff whos been talking to them to identify which is the leader may be a mistake])
You try pulling the chain... the chain does not come free of the rod. your hands actually hurt a little after trying so roughly to pull the chain out.
