Walton stops in his tracks, not wanting to get hit and/or killed by some manner of booby-trap; he valued his life greatly, and he didn't intend to die in some musty tomb. Letting Xan pass him to go fiddle with that plate, he looks ahead of the bridge for anything off, in case there was any other sort of treacherous obstacle.
(Xanlanann inspects the pressure plate. It's raised about 2 inches off the rest of the ground. It looks like a standard pressure plate trap: If something heavy enough goes on it, something will happen, and it probably won't be good.)
Walton stands back, and lets the thief do his work. He never really liked roguish types, though he certainly had to admit that they had some skills he would never master, even if they weren't exceptionally trustworthy.
Xan, please roll a Dexterity Check. You can add your Dexterity modifier (+3) and your Proficiency Bonus (+2) because you're proficient with the Thieves Tools. So +5 total.
"I wonder what that trap does?" Erhorn has walked up right behind Walton and now he rests one hand against the cleric's shoulder. One good shove from the Warlock could probably send the party healer falling into the abyss below the bridge, although Erhorn appears to be far more interested in what the Thief is doing.
"Do you suppose he learned how to that from books? I wonder what library he's a member of?"
"Self-taught or taught by another thief, if I had to fancy a guess. I don't imagine the idea of a guidebook for thieves would go over well with any government or constabulary."
The priest replied, trying to shrug Erhorn's hand off of him. It goes without saying that Walton didn't like Warlocks, mostly out of principle; the idea of fiendish patrons left a bad taste in his mouth.
(As Xanlanann uses his mirror and tools to try to disarm the trap, everyone stands a few feet back to let him work. A click is heard. You all stand at attention for just a moment...
...
but nothing seems to happen. Xanlanann has successfully (DMs note: Just barely) disarmed the trap.
On the other side of the bridge, you come to another door like the one you came in thru. It is open just a crack.)
DM's note: I need perception checks from everyone, please. Also, just an FYI, DC was 10, so you all came close. :)
Xanlanann look at Erhorn as he begins fiddling with the mechanism. "You learn what you need to survive." After he hears the click, he waits a moment to see if he was successful. Since nothing happened, he motions everyone forward. "Let's go." He says as he stands and starts moving.
He approaches the door and presses his ear to the crack
Walton states as he moves onward, stepping across the disarmed trap with care. He takes his mace from his belt as he comes near the door, positioning himself right next to it so he may get the drop on anything coming out.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Erhorn Perception: 13
Spoiler for Frederick:
As you peer inside, you see a large Bugbear, a kind of super Goblin, who may be the leader. He looks pretty tough, with thick furs and armor, and a giant Warhammer over his shoulder. Next to him, a regular Goblin in robes stands before a makeshift altar, chanting words that appear to be part of a ritual. You adjust your angle and see that there are 2 Goblins standing about on the right side of the room, talking among themselves, not really paying much attention.

Next to him, a regular Goblin in robes stands before a makeshift altar, chanting words that appear to be part of a ritual. You adjust your angle and see that the makeshift altar is in front of a large statue that looks like the leader of the Delian Order, Sextus Varius. You adjust your angle again, and see that there are 2 Goblins standing about on the right side of the room, talking among themselves, not really paying much attention. As you make one final adjustment, you see that on the far left corner of the room, a small girl is squatting in a small cage, her dirty, tear-stained face covered in dirt and mucus. She sobs softly, as if she has been crying for hours and hours and is just about cried out.
"Don't stop", bellows out the Bugbear at the Shaman Goblin (in common), "we're so close. Soon, this place will become a proper temple for the Goblin God, and we will consecrate it... with the blood of the innocent! Nothing will stop us!"
The Bugbear lets out an evil laugh as the Shaman Goblin continues to chant and perform the ritual.
DMs note: Guys, I know you're all busy and such, but you're almost there. I'll even give it to you so you don't have to check the spoiler tag.

Erhorn leans away from the door and softly closes it after everyone has had a good look. He keeps his voice low.
"I'd give someone in there the gift of laughter, if I could. As it is, I could potentially make the big guy paranoid." He waves his hands. "Hearing voices, that kind of thing. I'm not sure what words I should make him hear, though. Telling him the Name of my patron might distract him, but it's a very..." He pauses, counts on his fingers, frowns a little, then shucks off a boot and wiggles his toes a little. "Nope. Patron-naming like that is out of the question. Bleeding ears and extra tentacle arms might be the least of what happens, and I'm not that insane. Not yet. Anyone got any ideas?"
He spends a little time putting his boot back on.
(I dislike how work seems to wax and wane. One day I'm busy, and the next day I'm not. It got so that I very nearly forgot about this.)
"Hit hard, and hit fast. We've got the drop on them, so we'd best press our advantage while we've still got it."
Walton whispers in reply, straightening his straw hat and taking his holy symbol in his hand. He was not going to let evil go unpunished, and he certainly wasn't going to let those filth sacrifice a child to desecrate this tomb into some ghastly parody of a holy temple.
"Cowabunga it is then" Xanlanann says with a grin as he draws his rapier in one hand and a dagger in the other "On the count of 3, we rush 'em. 1... 2... 3...."
