"I also wonder what we gain by staying in this town. Getting back to the caravan and on our way to Madame Eva seems wisest, but then again, I could use a cup of tea and a good night's sleep." Olin says, feeling a little stronger than when they'd left the house.
(DM: let me know what he was able to get out of the house still intact, other than the magical items.)
Meepo does not see why we are bothering with the inn... It is morning and seems fairly early in the day to be finding a room, especially if the wagons are still there. He would find a table though, deciding he was fairly hungry,a nd could use a breakfast. As he does so he starts to look for any lost itmes around the place, planning on keeping better care of these ones, since somehow the others were damaged while under his protection.
"Well, if we're going to go back to the wagons to be introduced to Madam Eva and find out what on earth we're doing here, there's a chance we may end up back in this town at some point. And we're here now, and even if we don't stay in the Inn, it's not a bad place to pick up some of the local gossip which we might find useful at some point. Let's not make our first trip to Barovia be solely a restless night in that crazy house!"
"I cast my vote in favor of returning to the caravan. Perhaps our friends can tell us what our next move should be." Kane says. "After all, we are here on their behalf."
Meepo takes stock of the goods on his disk, discarding the old broken bones, and keeping a small mummified hand with sharp claws, a bone knife, a dagger with a rat's skull set into the pommel, a shriveled finger, a 6-inch tall wooden figurine of a mummy, a tiny shrunken head, and a small wooden coffer that is empty.
The group trudges back down the road and returns to the caravan. As they march through the light fog, people on the streets seem to avoid them, keeping to the sides of the road, turning down alley's, or even turning around and heading away. The few people they do spot appear to be human, have pale skin, look thin and have eyes full of fear that they keep pointed directly at the road in front of them. As they march down the street a distant muffled noise begins to resolve. As they get closer, the sound can more clearly be heard through the fog and it sounds like a mournful sobbing noise. It echoes around the street. As the group passes a building on the main street, it's clear the sobbing is coming from within. The moaning sob floating through the still grey streets colors your thoughts with sadness, and is clearly flowing from a dark, two-story townhouse.

Meepo glances up sullenly at Aga. "Meepo no check..." He informs her, though he badly wants to see if someone lost something that he could help them find back. "Aga say stay together..." He says with a stamp of a foot, crossing his arms over his chest. His eyes dart to the house though. He really wishes he had Rat right now to go and take a look... Rat wouldn't need to stay together...
Kane stops outside the house. He is exhausted and his bones ache, but on his countenance is an expression of grim resolve.
”It appears we will have to delay our rest a while longer,” he comments as he casts Produce Flame. Cupping his hands together into a lantern, he holds the flame up to one of the windows and looks in.
Mordekai follows Kane to the window. "Got enough light?" he asks, as he casts Dancing Lights, causing four small globes of light to appear inside the room, one in each corner, lighting the room.

Kane strides up to the door. “Keep your weapons trained on the door in the event that we accidentally release something from imprisonment.” He says to the others, and then attempts to kick down the door.
"Stay together..." Meepo tells Aga as he follows the two towards the house. He might have a bit of gloating in his movements and manner, but it is hard to say with a little koboldt...
(The windows are boarded up, you can't see through them.)
Kane's boot slams into the door. It partially falls off of its hinges, but there appears to be a dresser and a couple of chairs piled up behind it, barricading it shut. A couple more good pushes, and the doorway is cleared.
The house appears to be lived in, with furniture and a few person items, but it is overly dusty, and smells quite musky, clearly not getting a lot of fresh air. The front room appears to be empty. A narrow stairway runs up to the 2nd floor. The sobbing seems to be coming from up there. A hallway runs down to the right of the stairs heading into what looks like a kitchen. A backdoor you can see from here. The kitchen table is turned on its side and blocking the back door as well.

Mordekai thinks about calling it, but then as Aga moves up the stairs, decided to follow Aga, putting more effort into keeping his eyes and ears open than being quiet himself, given that Kane smashed the front door in and shoved the heavy furniture out of the way, but seeing Aga sneak, feels he should make a token gesture at it.

Meepo looks from the inn to the group, then shrugs. He turns and starts towing his disk towards where the wagons were last.

Should we investigate?"Mordekai casts Guidance on himself, and readies his Eldritch Blast as Kane approaches the door.
